  • "Was lovely to walk into a property that was clean and welcoming."

Cooker could have been bigger when catering for 10 people. Mirror on hallway kept falling off when walking past and could do with proper fixing. But a great holiday with amenities close by.Thank you

We were very pleased you enjoyed your stay Thank you for letting us know about the mirror. We will get this fixed. Property Owner

  • "On first entering, the cottage looked clean and welcoming; the welcome pack, baskets of towels & toiletries were much appreciated."

We enjoyed our stay very much much but offer the following small points for improvement which would make a big difference to what is a lovely house. Cleaning - It is a big house to clean and turn around between visitors but more attention needs to be given to cleanliness particularly under toilet seats which were dirty & under beds, sofas etc where we found sweets and other bits & bobs. Rubbish & recycling facilities - this really was inadequate with no access to bins beyond an instruction to leave bin bags in a certain place - there were 10 of us and over a week, generated a lot of rubbish which piled up and began to smell. Incidentally, on attending the local church service on the Sunday, we received a complaint from one of the neighbours about rubbish from the cottage filling up the bins which we did not even have access to. Maintenance- The downstairs toilet door needs better repair as it kept falling off the fittings (it’s a plastic concertina caravan type door); The gripper rods on stairs need attention - they poked through the carpet at the back of the steps and we had several skinned heels as a result; The gardens need attention beyond cutting the grass - borders and paths and the area around the hot tub need weeding because it just made the place look unloved. Some helpful additions would be enough wine glasses for 10 people (there were loads of pint glasses clearly relocated from the pub but only 6 wine glasses) and enough garden chairs for 10 people too. This is meant to be helpful feedback rather than a-complaint

Hi Sue, Thank you for your feedback - we appreciate your points and have discussed them with the housekeeping & maintenance team and will ensure they are fixed for the next guests. There were lots of wine glasses so I guess a few have been broken recently which is what happens in a rental property Thanks again for booking with us Property Owner

Comfortable beds and plenty showers/bathrooms/towels for everyone. The kitchen was eqipped with everything you could need and the welcome pack was just that! Everyone enjoyed the garden and the hot tub/bbq area was ideal for us, a real suntrap. We really enjoyed our week in Prudhoe, a very friendly and welcoming town and a great location for accessing Newcastle, Whitley Bay and Hexham. Thank you Jackie!

Thank you for your feedback - we love it when our guests have such a great time and so pleased the sun shone for you and you were able to enjoy the outside facilities Property Owner

It was big enough to comfortably house the 10 of us for a family get together, even if the weather wasn't great. Prudhoe is a nice little town. Eat out at Ollie and Joe's, takeaway from Ball's, and drink at the Falcon.

Thank you for your feedback - we are so pleased you enjoyed the house and the village . We are sorry we cannot organise the weather. Thank you also for the feedback regarding the facilities in the town Property Owner

  • "Cottage was in a great location close to Newcastle for a night out."

Cottage had everything we needed lots of towels, shower gel, tea coffee. It was always very tidy and we enjoyed the outdoor space and hot tub immensely. The only downside was lack of communication, we were panicking a bit on the lead up to the visit as we didn't have the code to get in and were unable to get a hold of the owner or sykes cottages. Eventually we got the code from sykes but still had little communication from the owner which was a shame.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the cottage and the location. We can only apologise for the communication issue, our housekeeper had an unexpected personal issue. I am pleased that Sykes managed to sort this out for you before your arrival & you & your group enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Hot tub inaccessible and unusable the downstairs rooms bar the bedroom were ..."

Hot tub inaccessible and unusable the downstairs rooms bar the bedroom were dirty and uncomfortable would never recommend this property and I will fight for a partial refund

It's unfortunate that you felt you couldn't use the hot tub - we have had no other complaints regarding its accessibility and position. There are clear pictures of the hot tub and where it is positioned on the web page so I am not quite sure what you were expecting. We were very disappointed to find the property left in such a poor state - soiled bedding, broken bedhead, stained carpets, ripped wall signage, evidence of sickness & party aftermath & dog poo bags left in the garden & we eventually managed to find the cutlery you had hidden. We have sent you time stamped pictures of the damages and are waiting for reimbursement for the extra cleaning costs that we have incurred. Our housekeeper was very upset after receiving an abusive telephone call from yourself . This has been a very upsetting experience for us all - we love the property and love when guests come and love the house and area as much as we do Fortunately 99% of guests do and that makes it worthwhile Property Owner

  • "We arrived to a freezing cold house as the thermostat had been turned off."

We turned the heating on when we arrived, but the radiators were just tepid. We had to sit under blankets on the sofa on the first evening and could see our breath as it was so cold! We expected that the heating would have kicked in by the following day, but there was still no improvement. The pans in the kitchen were also not fit for purpose as they were rusty and ruined the scrambled eggs we tried to make on Saturday morning. The shower upstairs was dirty and clogged with pubic hair. We had to clean this as well before we could use it. Sinks and baths were also dirty around the taps and also needed cleaning too. When we came back after a day at Beamish on Saturday evening the heating still was not fit for purpose and the hot tub water was green and smelly. This was very disappointing as the main reason we booked Prudhoe Cottage was as a treat for our granddaughter who has had a difficult year with type 1 diabetes and she never got to go in it. We called out the maintenance man who, to his credit, fixed the boiler, cleaned the hot tub and got us some new pans. Despite this we felt very disappointed as these things could and should have been sorted before we arrived and it ruined the start of the holiday for the rest of our family who were only there for two nights. We had no recycling bin either as described in the information book.

Thank you for your feedback. We take guest comfort seriously and were pleased that our maintenance team responded within an hour of your call. Heating: we are sorry to hear that the heating did not come on - it was tested the previous day and there were no issues. We are pleased that Ryan got the heating working straight away. Hot Tub: It was checked and everything was working the day before your arrival so we do not understand what happened - Again we are pleased to hear that Ryan reset the settings and the issue was resolved quickly . Pans: Apologies for the pans - these were replaced by Ryan during his visit. Bathrooms: Ryan was keen to sort out the complaint you made regarding the bathroom but was unable to as you wouldn't let him go upstairs to check the issue. We were disappointed to find the damage to the bathroom wall after you had checked out . We understanding that accidents happen, previous guests have always informed us of such damage and offered to cover repair costs, allowing us more time for pre-arrival fixes. Recycling Bin: We apologise the bin was missing - a new one has been purchased for future guests. Property Owner

  • "House was gorgeous and in a great location too."

The rooms were large and spacious with comfortable beds. Loved the open fire and the property had a large dining table with plenty of crockery and utensils. Large washing machine and dishwasher which was made full use of. Unfortunately did not get to use the hot tub and couldn’t find any spare towels. On the negative side there only appeared to be a wardrobe in one of the bedrooms and a small rail in the other double room. The rooms were plenty big enough to take a wardrobe. The twin rooms just had a rail too which is not ideal as we were staying for a week. There were only 2 dishwasher tablets left and one toilet roll per bathroom. Due to accommodating 10 guests I expected to buy extras but thought more could have been left. Even though the lounge was spacious it could’ve probably taken another chair/two seater in order that we could’ve been a little more comfortable of an evening. We also asked for a cot which was available but did not appear to have any fixings to hold it together. We didn’t ask for the high chair but I would have assumed they would have also made one available. Only minor issues which I am sure can be addressed. Due to our booking being over the Christmas period and we were cooking a full dinner we had requested a visit to the cottage prior to see what utensils etc were available. Maz very kindly met me there and showed us around which was very good of her. On the whole it was a beautiful house and we had an absolutely fantastic stay over the Christmas period. Would definitely recommend for a family gathering and also close to the train station for visiting Newcastle/Tynemouth etc. Would definitely stay again and we had a wonderful Christmas there.

She was very helpful about days out and really wanted us to enjoy our stay. It was our 50th wedding anniversary and Maz had got us a card and a bottle of prosecco to enjoy on arrival. We had a problem logging on to the WiFi and she came round to help immediately. The house was lovely warm and cosy and we really enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. The beds were comfy and we wanted for nothing. It was truly a home from home. Prudhoe itself is a lovely village and I would love to return again for another stay. Thank you Maz for making us feel at home. PS The Falcon in the village does the best carvery in the UK!

  • "Prudhoe Cottage is perfectly positioned within Prudhoe, with shops only a stroll away, however peace and quiet was enjoyed."

We had really good communication from Maz who manages the property. The only disappointment would be the hot tub (which was the reason for booking Prudhoe Cottage as a surprise for my mum and her friend).... the lid of the hot tub is not hinged to the body of the hot tub and therefore very heavy and cumbersome to move, especially hitting the top of the wooden pergola above the hot tub.... we only used the hot tub twice due to the lid issues, my mum and her friend are both in their late 60's and I couldn't move the lid on my own.
