  • "The cottage was ok and in a good location."

But it was a shame to see that previous feedback had not been acted upon and we encountered similar issues with cleanliness, lack of some basic things like loo roll and the towel radiator still not working. This, combined with no washing line (for a house next to the beach) meant it was tricky to dry swimming gear/towels each day. Having a wet room as the main bathroom was impractical, meaning the floor remained wet for some time making toilet trips/teeth brushing tricky. There were damp/mouldy patches on some walls and window blinds and the bed linen in the children's bedroom was worn out and bleach stained. All in all, not what would be expected from the price.

  • "So much is great about this property and it’s our third time staying."

Location and layout of house is excellent. However it’s getting a bit tired and grubby in places and needs a proper clean! Popularity of the area has pushed all rental prices up but please spend some on new toilet brushes. A long handled sweeping brush, for those sandy hard floors too please.

  • "Carpets had obviously needed cleaning prior to us taking up occupation of the holiday let: unfortunately smelt unpleasant for a couple of days until they dried out."

..!! Garden & garden furniture a little tired...( my son is in Gardening & lawn maintenance) comented on the state of the lawn; understand being in Bamburgh your not going too spend much time in the garden!! I did report main bathroom heated towel rail & floor not working ( maintenance came & put new fuse in to no avail) A long sweeping brush/broom would be useful for in the house...if was overall & comfortable family holiday home & we did enjoy our stay. Thank you

  • "Some more basics such as dishwasher tabs, black bin bags etc would be helpful."

  • "For a property costing £2k for a week, two toilet rolls for a family of 4 was a bit stingy."

Toilet seats all loose and moving. Dishwasher not working intermittently. TV too small to see from sofa. Spiders in corners of living and bedroom been there a while. Great location but attention to detail in cleaning and maintenance poor.

  • "Location ideal, short walk from the castle and village centre, and less than 100 yards from the bus stop for routes north and south."

Excellent refurbishment from the top-notch bed-linen and the efficient CH to the quality of the fittings and equipment in the kitchen and bedrooms.

  • "This wonderful cottage is tucked away in a peaceful location with open views across fields."

The Dunes is within easy reach of the village and amenities and, of course, the amazing beach and castle. Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean we couldn't have asked for more - I am sure we will return. It was a winner with all the family.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
