  • "The cottage is an ideal base to explore the area."

We climbed the nearby Yeavering Bell and my dog enjoyed evening walks in the nearby wood and down the nearby lane to a stream where he could have a paddle. My Grandchildren loved playing on the grassed area in front of the cottage. The Co-Op in Wooler was excellent. I felt very relaxed in the cottage and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

  • "We enjoyed staying at Croft Cottage."

In spite of the weather, we found it a great centre for exploring the coast and also the borders. The chickens provided a somewhat noisy backdrop - and we felt inhibited by them in letting our dog out. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable.

  • "We couldn’t stay in this cottage."

On arrival we found a note had been left stating that the water supply was from a spring and to boil all drinking water and/or purchase bottled water. The fridge was full of black mould, there was water running down the interior and the salad crisper was half full of water. The cooker controls were greasy, the ceramic hob wasn’t clean, the inside of the glass door was covered in grease as were the metal racks and baking sheet. The washing machine had a ‘jelly’ of mould on the door seal. And the bath wasn’t clean. Extremely disappointed to lose our holiday.

  • "Pleasant cottage in a lovely quiet location."

The owner was very helpful and people locally seemed very friendly. Real fire was nice in the lounge and having somewhere to store our bikes was really useful.

  • "Very clean, well maintained cottage in a magical location."

The owners were friendly and welcoming. The farm is teeming with domesticated and wild animals, lovely walks from the front door and a river nearby. If our children were a bit older we'd have attempted Yeavering Bell which is right in front of the cottage. The nearest village, Wooler, is sweet and had everything we needed. This part of Northumbria is very unspoiled, but there's lots to do.
