  • "Excellent stay."

Only issue is that in the property instruction book it is not clear that there are two pages. Didn't find the second page detailing location of fusebox initially after lighting circuit tripped.

  • "Absolutely stunning location and I would be back in an instance if they changed the mattress on the double bed."

Extremely uncomfortable even after a mattress topper and an airbed topper.. also could do with a decent hoover.

  • "Perfect in every way except for one thing."

The mattresses need replacing as the beds were uncomfortable. On on wof the single beds I could feel the spring in the mattress. Gorgeous cottage in perfect location. If the beds were sorted it would be definitely somewhere we would return to.

  • "Fantastic property and location for exploring and walks."

Beds a bit uncomfortable but the welcome pack and cleanliness was out standing. Thank you for the Grandkids sweets.

  • "The place was just as it stated ,very clean ,very comfortable and so peaceful."

The enclosed gardens were so important to us,to be able to let our dogs run free was a god send,as they both are escape artists. Such a relaxing break. Will definitely return and recommend to friends and family. Thank you.

  • "I did leave a complaint letter for whoever looks after the place which i thought was fair."

The weather wasn't good Wed/Thurs/ Fri so we didn't go out. The problem was there was workmen in the property adjoining our cottage and there was considerable noise. i Did manage to speak with one of the workman, but he said that there wasn't anything that could be done (They had to earn a living) which on the face of it he was right. But the owners of the cottage should liase with who ever has the property next door and try not to disrupt people who have paid their money to have a decent holiday and not have pressure to speak to workmen. Also kitchen tap needs a new washer constant dripping. No egg cups

  • "Only thing we noticed was the upstairs sink was slow to drain."

Second time we have stayed at Middlemoor, this time with a toddler and the only thing that would have allayed her mother’s fears would have been a baby gate at the top of the stairs. She was never out of sight so we had no concerns as grandparents. We were very happy with the accommodation and garden. A* rating

  • "Our 40th visit to the area but first time at Middlemoor cottage."

The location is fabulous and property very nice albeit with a few negatives. The good, garden, location, peacefulness and most of the facilities, plenty of books, games and a big TV. The not so good, comfort of beds and living room furniture (though we appreciate this is a personal taste), only 3 logs in starter pack of wood and no firelighters. We would have liked to have a couple of trays, toilet brushes, a pen and a nicer welcome pack. The wi-fi is hit and miss. All in all whilst the good outweighs the negatives I don't think it's for us but don't let that put you off.

Thank you for your feedback, it's always useful for us to have comments from our guests. We appreciate the positives that you mentioned and will give consideration to your suggestions for improvement for future guests. Jane and Alan Property Owner

  • "Middlemoor Cottage is a great little cottage for a short break."

Easy to find, extremely clean, well-appointed with everything you need. Great shower! The information provided about the surrounding areas was particularly good. Beautiful Alnwick, Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle are close by. Lindisfarne and Bamburgh only half an hour away. We really wanted to try the nearby Horseshoe Pub in Rennington for dinner but it was completely booked up! That’s a recommendation in itself. Only downsides are that nothing is walkable from the cottage - you have to drive or cycle to get anywhere. Plus, while the sofa is comfy, the armchairs are not!

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
