  • "Excellent property and location."

However check in time was between 5 and 6 to allow for thorough clean and unfortunately the clean was not thorough. A bin even still had dirty tissues in and some cutlery had bits of food on it. It was stated it had central heating. It didn’t, but had individual heaters in each room so it did actually warm up quite quickly but manually. The apartment did have everything needed for a comfortable stay so overall ,enjoyed the visit

The flat was generally quiet but the live music on two evenings was quite noisy.

  • "Simonside apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped."

The flat is in the centre of Rothbury so is close to shops and eateries, and it has a pleasant outlook over the village green. In a week when the weather was hot and sticky, the flat was a haven of coolness. We would be more than happy to stay there again if we were in the area.

  • "Comfortable and well equipped apartment."

Perhaps a folder of instructions for the various equipment would be useful. One or two minor issues which were quickly sorted out by the owner. I actually contacted Sykes Holiday Cottages via email about the above issues on the day of our arrival (Sunday) and didn't receive a reply, which incidentally didn't resolve the issues, until Wednesday - not very satisfactory. Fortunately as previously stated the owner quickly resolved the issues. A very good base for seeing Northumberland, plenty of places to visit and things to do but not enough time to do them all. Must mention that been above The Narrow Nick is not a problem regarding any noise, even when they had live music one evening. All in all a very pleasant stay.

  • "This clean, comfortable, homelike and well-equipped apartment was the perfect centre for a holiday exploring the wonderful county of Northumberland."

Perfecrtly positioned in terms of geography - with easy access to both coast and uplands - it is also perfectly situated within Rothbury, being right in the middle of this lively but peaceful town with all its useful shops, pubs and eating venues within a few steps of the doorway. A big bonus is that each of the major rooms boast large, sash windows looking over the pretty, bustling marketplace. The level of facilities is very good, with the unusually well-equipped kitchen and the exceptionally comfortable bed being worthy of special mention. Little touches like the scroll-top desk in the bedroom and the thoughtful, attractive decor are much appreciated. The owner is friendly, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. I had a superb holiday and Simonside apartment contributed greatly to its succes.

  • "Nice apartment in lovely friendly town, with plenty of facilities and good for exploring Northumberland."

No noise issues with bar (great place for a friendly pint with the locals) or the Co-op (understand Co-op is moving to new premises later in year). Items to consider: could not get TV to work; light in alleyway much needed very dark at night and easy to trip up step into alley from street; grab rail for bath as very deep; instructions on where to find hot water and jacuzzi controls.

There was everything in the apartment you could possibly need. The village of Rothbury had everything on hand, lovely shops, restaurants and a Co Op. Everyone we met were so friendly. We would definately recommend the property and would certainly visit again.

  • "The only comment really is that you are close to the Co-Op and deliveries arrive early morning, would not bother early risers or heavy sleepers."

I would suggest that the lock into the apartment needs a good squirt of WD40 into it. A couple of time I was worried it wasn’t going to lock/unlock. Otherwise we would not hesitate to stay here again should the need arise.

WD40 was used at the next opportunity and worked well thank you kind regards Richard Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Simonside however the apartment felt very cold and damp/musty on arrival with a strong chemical smell which persisted throughout our stay despite having windows open to air the rooms."

We wondered whether this was caused by building work in the Bar below. There were some minor niggles which could do with fixing...... • Toilet seat was loose and moved and the shower/bath was very slow to empty • Grill on the oven didn't seem to work very well and had to resort to a different method of cooking. • TV kept losing stations and sound bar didn't appear to work • Living flame fire not usable and replaced with electric heater. Some of the photographs in the listing are out of date and could do with updating. The property is in a good position right at the centre of the town/village but a little noisy in the morning which is to be expected because of the location.

  • "The furniture is a little dated and tired and the kitchen utensils were a bit sparse, only one saucepan for instance."

The Narrow Nick pub is now open on the ground floor and the sound penetrates to the flat. The clientele seem well behaved and it closes by 11pm, so tolerable. Overall the flat is very conveniently located.

  • "Located right in the middle of Rothbury High Street."

It is very handy for shops and places to eat out, there are 3 pubs, cafe and fish and chip shop close to the apartment. The co-op is next door which is handy but has frequent deliveries that can be noisy as is the pub directly below the apartment when people are sat outside. Lots to do, many ideal walks from the doorstep, Cragside (National Trust) is really worth visiting. Alnwick Castle and town a short 20 minute drive, with the coast 30 minutes drive. Many lovely beaches, Alnmouth and Holy Island close by. Apartment is very comfortable, well furnished with excellent WIFI and ideal for self catering.

  • "Overall, a comfortable and well equipped flat which met our expectations."

It is located very conveniently in the centre of Rothbury with good access to shops and food outlets despite the current restrictions. One problem was that the Jacuzzi did not work.

  • "The apartment is as it says on the main street in Rothbury."

It is very handy for places to visit. There are places to eat in Rothbury plus a fish&chip shop and a pizza takeaway. The co-op is next door which is handy but it comes with deliveries made at just after 7 am which does wake you up. We were left a lovely box of chocolates which was a nice thought but we didn't get any milk which is unusual now. All in all we did enjoy our stay.
