  • "A very warm, cozy, comfortable house which is an ideal base to explore Northumberland."

The house was well equipped and we had everything we needed for our stay. Great for walkers as you can walk to nearby villages along the coastal paths to explore a village and then walk back to Seahouses. Although the house is at the edge of Seahouses, it is a very short walk to one of the many good restaurants. Would certainly recommend to others.

  • "Have enjoyed the property a few times now and would book again but no listings for 2024 so looks like its going off the holiday cottages lists."

  • "Whinstone was not up to the expected high standards of Sykes cottages that we have enjoyed previously."

In particular the cleanliness standards left a lot to be desired. In general there was a lot of long term dust in areas of all rooms. The living room carpet had numerous stains and the dining room carpet was stained. The tap for the kitchen sink requires replacing. Both shower heads were filthy and the main shower drain cover was broken. In the en-suite shower the water did not drain away properly and tiles and grab handle were stained. The entrance to the front door was dirty and covered with cob-webs. The front lawn required cutting. The fully paved rear garden had overgrown bushes, tree shoots were growing up through the pavers and had leaves and other debris lying around. The garden furniture ( a plastic table and 2 chairs) were not enticing enough for us to sit outside.

  • "The photos don't do justice as to what a large bungalow this is."

My daughter was thrilled to have a double bed to spread out in - and her own bathroom - given that the main bedroom the my wife and I took had an en-suite. There was plenty of hot water and the showers were powerful and envigorating. The huge driveway meant that there were no hassles with parking. The heating system was amazing, we turned the thermostat right down to 20degC and the radiators down to "3" and we actually turned some of theme off! A very warm and cozy place to go back to. We had a fairly sunny week - but some days were still rather fresh so this was most welcome. The location was great and all the locals we met said hello. Up a quiet side road, tucked away and yet very easy to find. The snicket through to the main street was very handy and the location is an easy five minute walk from the main areas with restaurants and equally near to the sea if you take the scenic route by the path across the golf course. A lovely place that i am sure we will come back to.

Very well equipped and loads of living space. Garden area much bigger than the photos suggest. We will definitely recommend!
