"This is our 3rd stay at Little Robin and hopefully it won't be our last."
The cottage is cosy and the perfect base to explore this area of Northumberland. The cottage is clean and well equipped and has off road parking. The beds are comfortable and there is an enclosed garden perfect for our dog and to sit watching the wildlife in the fields behind the property. We got a lovely welcome pack which was very much appreciated. Amble is close by and is a lovely harbour town to visit. We would also recommend the Northumberland Arms in Felton for food.
"Little Robin was a great find."
We found it had all the things we wanted in our stay. We wanted somewhere near Eshott Hall for the wedding reception we were going to Little Robin did not disappoint. The cooking facilities are very good, dishwasher helped. There was no complaints about the beds.
Any drawbacks? Well it rained one day but that didn't dampen our spirits as there are many places to visit, plenty of lovely coastal walks and castles to explore.
All in all a very nice week.
"Nicola and Glen have a lovely property, located in a fantastic position nestled in the countryside but only minutes away from the coastal route and local attractions."
Lovely welcome pack on arrival an added bonus. Dog friendly property with secure back garden looking out over woodland and open fields. This is a 300 year old property but spotlessly clean with recently refurbished kitchen and bathroom . We had great weather and thoroughly enjoyed our few days there and would not hesitate to return.
Thank you Nicola and Glen :-)
"We had a fantastic week with the bonus of marvellous weather."
The cottage is ideally situated down a quiet country lane but beaches and lots of places to visit are minutes away by car.
The facilities at the very comfortable cottage were first rate, the only recommendation would be for a parasol for the table in the back garden which is south facing and perfect for outside dining( but it does get hot in the sunshine).
"The cottage was lovely."
Everything you need. The owner Nicola was very friendly. Visited lots of interesting places close by. Great week away.
"Really recommend you and the property was outstanding."
"It was nice to arrive to a welcome pack."
The cottage is exceptionally well presented, very clean the kitchen is well equipped and the garden secure if you are bringing a dog as we did. The cottage is well located to discover the beaches of Northumberland. We used the Running Fox in Felton for breakfast and takeaway sandwiches and cakes, dogs are welcome here outside. The Duke of Northumberland is about 500 yards away from the Running Fox and has a large outside area for drinks and Food. Our aim was to to discover the beaches , so Bamburgh, Embleton, Druridge, Alnmouth and Warkworth all ticked off. We also stopped off at Craster were we stopped at the Piper Pitch for brews and fantastic sandwiches. Upon the recommendation of our hosts we also tried the Jolly Fisherman in Craster lovely sea food and a well kept pint of Timothy Taylor kept the troops happy.
Alnwick , Amble Seahouses and more are all upon your door step, if you stay at the LIttle Robin, I cannot recommend this little cottage enough a fantastic base to explore Northumberland and beyond.
"Extremely comfortable and homely cottage in lovely location."
Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again.
"We had a fantastic time in this lovely cottage."
Well equipped for our weeks stay and covid safe. Great location for visiting surrounding area. Our two Mini Schnauzers loved playing in the safe& secure garden. We were recommended to stay here by a friend and it do not disappoint. Would definitely stay at Little Robin again.
"Superb cottage which was only spoilt, if that is even the right word, by the main bedroom being an ice box despite having a radiator."
Seeing a red squirrel in the garden made up for it.
"Fabulous little cottage."
Cosy warm - essential for Northumberland in the winter - comfy beds, great welcome pack including wine and chocolate biscuits, unexpectedly better WiFi than at home and brilliant location for exploring Northumberland & Newcastle. This is our first Sykes Cottage and Little Robin has set the bar very high for future bookings.
"This is our second visit to Little Robin and it was just as we remembered it."
It is a beautiful cottage surrounded by countryside equipped with everything you might need. Thankyou to Nicola for the lovely welcome gifts they were very much appreciated. We love to feed the birds with the seed provided and watch them in the garden. Freddie, our dog, loves the garden and we feel safe when he is out as it is enclosed with no means of escape. The beds are comfortable and the cottage is spotlessly clean. There is off road parking which is great too. All put together this is a perfect place to stay to explore this area of Northumberland and I am sure we will return.
"This was the best cottage that we have been to."
There was a lovely welcome pack too. We were lucky with the weather and managed to visit lots of local places of interest. The owner was very helpful. The seating and the bed were so comfortable a first in our experience. Our dog loved the garden and we all had a wonderful holiday.
"Had such a lovely stay at Little Robin over the August Bank Holiday weekend."
Ideally located for exploring Northumberland and the cottage itself in beautiful surroundings too. Very well equipped - had everything we needed and little extras such as wild bird food and binoculars to watch the garden wildlife. Perfect little cottage with off road parking and a nice garden too. Thanks for the welcome gifts too. Snacks were greatly appreciated by the teenage son and we enjoyed the wine :-) Will definitely look to book again when we visit the area.
"We enjoyed our stay in this lovely comfortable cottage in a rural setting in a beautiful unspoilt part of the UK."
The cottage was well equipped but we would have liked an indoor wet clothes drying hanger. The owner, Nicola, was very obliging in assisting us to dry some damp walking clothes after we were caught out by the weather !
"Clean and Comfortable for 4 people max."
Would be good to have a WC upstairs.
Owner very helpful when contacted.
"We have been to many cottages over the years, but this one was the best of all we have visited."
Sykes selections are always top notch, but this one was exceptional. First was my phone call a day before our journey and our hostess was easy to talk to, clear and most welcoming. On arrival everything was exactly as our instructions stated. On entering the cottage we were struck by the freshness of the interior and the pleasant smell. Such an immediate impression. In the middle of the parlour there was a bottle of wine and some thoughtful foodie nibbles. Both the bedrooms were so clean and sweet smelling, as was the downstairs bathroom and the generous sized kitchen. The latter was well equipped and nothing has been left to chance. One thing that impressed us, both being elder customers was the wide banister and wide staircase. So many cottages these days have steep staircases, but do not provide any support. This can be hazardous for both old and very young. We expected stairs to be steep, but were so pleased at the thoughtful addition of a sturdy banister. There was a clear guide to the expectations concerning waste disposal and an excellent overview to the immediate area. The crowning glory was the wonderful enclosed back garden and the wildlife in the surrounding environs. It was a delight to sit in as well as the peace of mind that an enclosed area provides when you have a small dog with you. Finally there was a private area in front of the cottage where we could easily park to unload and load. We had a superb week and the contribution of our stay at Little Robin- South Farm was due to the thought given to the layout and hospitality by our hostess Mrs Sanderson. Thank you.
"Firstly - Nicola the owner was delightful, very friendlyand helpful."
The cottage itself was situated in a very pretty setting with beautiful scenery and great wildlife all around. - However the pictures of the interior were very deceptive with everything looking much more spacious than it really was - The first bedroom was fine - roomy and had plenty of storage and hanging space - The second however was very small with just enough room for the two single beds and no hanging space at all - Probably just about adequate for a family with two young children but not 4 adults - The bathroom itself was fine but being downstairs with the only loo wasnt terribly covenient at night time.
The stairs had a very low ceiling which for anyone approaching six foot were difficult to negotiate and the door to the lounge was also slightly lower than average - These things did not ruin the holiday but I think should be made clear when presenting the cottage for rent.
The Kitchen and Dining area were also much smaller than they appeared to be on the photos and even two people in the Kitchen area made life difficult with eating for 4 adults was very cramped. - Kitchen utensils in the main were fine but lacking some everyday implements such as a potato masher slotted spoon etc and the kettle needs replacing as the lid continually came open at boiling point and we had to purchase some descaler as we found ourselves getting chalk in our tea etc.
Overall - in spite of the problems outlined we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and as stated before we found the owners extremely pleasant and helpful - Had we been just 2 adults or 2 adults with small children then the accomodation would have been OK but most definitely not really adequate space for 4 adults.
Thank you for your feedback and your kind words.
We feel that the cottage is clearly depicted on the photographs with relation to the sloping ceilings and the second bedroom, this bedroom does have drawers for the storage of clothing rather than hanging space.
The bathroom is downstairs as the listing states and unfortunately there isn't room for a toilet to be added upstairs.
We were unaware of the kettle not working but would have gladly replaced it during your stay had we been informed.
We hope you had an enjoyable stay and thank you once again. Property Owner
"The cottage is very clean, warm (fire is great), quiet and comfortable (good beds)."
It isn't absolutely pristine in decor, furnishings or fittings but it isn't advertised to be that. It is in fact just perfect for a walking / seaside holiday, very clean but not prissy so that you would have to worry about every footstep and splash. The small enclosed garden is dog safe which is a bonus
The general area is super for beeches and sightseeing and is surprisingly very quiet compared to most other coasts we have seen.
Thoroughly recommended and a place we'd go back to.
"This was a lovely, comfortable cottage with plenty of light and warmth."
A great situation for travelling to many beauty spots, it is set back from a road but benefits from a lovely aspect and garden at the back.
"The cottage is very comfortable and cosy, and in a perfect location for exploring the glorious Northumberland coastline and countryside."
We couldn’t have asked for more.
"Little Robin cottage was a well equipped cottage."
We spent the week here with our Springer spaniel, exploring the local areas. It was really nice to have the extras when arriving like the milk, biscuits, t bags and wine. Although we didn't see Nicola we had contact with us the day after our arrival and also the day before we departed. The cottage was perfect for us and just the right size and really comfortable features. We would definitely recommend to friends and family.
"We stayed at Little Robin -South Farm on and off for most of the winter December 2018- March 2019 ."
Nicola was amazing and very friendly , the welcome pack was great .The birds and pheasant kept us entertained .
This is a very comfortable cottage in a lovely area of Northumberland .The wood burning fire is a great feature and was a welcomed source of warmth on the cold nights .
we would recommend this cottage its a lovely place to stay and keep a look out for the Red squirrel .
"Really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage."
"This is a lovely property in an excellent location to explore a beautiful area."
Nicola is a great host who makes you feel very welcome. There were some lovely extra touches on arrival. The bed is really comfortable, the shower is great and there is everything you need. There is even bird food to attract all the amazing feathered visitors, and binoculars and a book to help identify them! It really is a home from home, we would recommend it as a great place to stay.
"Nicola was a lovely hostess, we haven't had that personal contact with the owner before."
She was thoughtful and generous in providing extras.
We were very fortunate to experience a newly kitted out cottage. The furnishings and equipment were all of a high standard. The beds were lovely and comfortable.
Very happy with everything.
"Extremely dog friendly."
Perfect setting. Quiet and Peaceful. Really comfortable beds. Would definitely stay again.
"Nicola went beyond as she was so helpful"
"The cottage was charming and very comfortable."
Thank you Nicola for your warm and generous welcome!
Eshott is ideally placed for fabulous beaches, castles and walks.
We thoroughly enjoyed our ‘home from home’.
"Superb host and made to feel special with a bottle of champagne as a anniversary gift."
"The cottage was very comfortable and situated in peaceful countryside."
There was a welcome pack & the owner was very friendly and helpful. The garden was an added bonus as the weather was good enough to enable us to eat outside. Would come again.
"The cottage is well-equipped, with nice little touches such as a welcome pack (including milk, a bottle of wine, tea, coffee, biscuits & crisps), bird food & binoculars, fresh flowers in the sitting room & a well-stocked basket of firewood etc for the wood burner."
It's in a lovely location, within easy reach (by car) of beaches, coastal towns, places of interest & the moors. And if you want to sit in the garden, it's an attractive little sun trap & there is plenty of bird life to watch (including the resident pheasants!) The owners were extremely helpful & welcoming and made every effort to ensure that our requirements were met.
