• "We had a fantastic holiday in this modern comfortable property."

  Comfortable beds & sofas and a well equipped kitchen plus a lovely hot shower, but the best bit was a full length window overlooking the sea, we saw lots of marine life, and within minutes we could stroll along the promenade or beach with our dog. Milk, bread, tea, coffee & biscuits were a lovely welcome touch, and the property was clean and in an excellent condition. The owners were very helpful and we would highly recommend this property for a fantastic holiday.

• "On the beach is amazing."

  The views are breathtaking and we even got to see the dolphins! The apartment is equipped with everything you need. It is spotlessly clean. The lovely owners had left biscuits, milk and fresh rolls, which we were so grateful for after a long journey. A lovely relaxing holiday.

• "If you want to stay somewhere cosy, with views of the beach and the sound of waves, then maybe you don't need to look any further than here."

  This isn't the biggest property you're likely to stay in, the kitchen isn't huge and it's fairly tight at the entrance, but these are small inconveniences. The view is wonderful and the hosts are welcoming. We loved our week there and look forward to getting back.

  That window is beyond expectations, the photos don't do it justice. We saw dolphins every day and had some lovely walks, including trips to Holy Island and Bamburgh. The communication from the owners was exceptional and the property was very clean. I'm sure we will be back in the future, I miss it already!

• "We had a great week here."

  The apartment was spotless when we arrived. The welcome pack with tea/coffee/milk/rolls etc was a bonus. A compact but well equiped kitchen. It is a brilliant location for anyone with young kids or dogs. Only a few steps from a huge sandy beach. We saw dolphins from the window twice. There is ample free parking. It is at the end of the street with no through road so it is very quiet. At night the only sound is the waves on the shore. Plenty facilities nearby and it is close to the A1 for longer day trips in Northumberland or over the border in Scotland. We regularly use self catering apartments in Scotland or northeast England and would rate the combination of the location and the quality of the property as being as good as anywhere we have been.

• "Everything was as advertised."

  Top marks for cleanliness comfort ect. The views were stunning. My only problem was that there was renovation work being carried out in the house next door, where drilling and hammering could be heard from 9 till 5. Hopefully the work will be completed soon and this won't be an issue for anyone else. However it did take the shine of what would have been a brilliant stay, for us.

• "Absolutely love this property."

  Just sitting on the sofa watching the sea, spotting seals and dolphins. Not to mention it's ideally located for walking in both directions and a short distance from a number of stunning tourist attractions. The property had everything we needed and was really comfortable, we'll be back.

  Very cosy. Compact but contained everything we needed. Lovely and clean. Beautiful views from the window, of the tide coming in and out that I could have watched all day. Ideal for coastal walks and a great location for visiting numerous nearby tourist locations. We had a lovely holiday.

  Communication with the owner is very good but not pestered and left alone to enjoy your stay. I would and will highly recommend on the beach to anyone looking for a short break or longer holiday and I will definitely be booking to come again in the future…

• "Incredible location with a superb view."

  The accommodation was spotless and had been recently modernised. We really enjoyed our time time here and would definitely return. The owners were really welcoming and it was nice to have some bread, coffee, milk etc on arrival. ( even some gravy bones were left for the dogs). The shower was powerful & hot which is always important to us. Thanks for having us.

• "If you love the sea, this is the place to stay."

  Watch dolphins from the window. Lovely apt. Clean, well equipped, warm, comfortable. Friendly owners. Dog friendly. Perfect really, for a get away. And walk down the prom for ice creams. Only downside - not suitable for people with severe mobility difficulties. 1 min walk from car parking and stairs to apt.

• "Lovely and comfortable apartment."

  Be aware there is a staircase leading to it and a short walk to the car. Car can be parked where it can be seen. We did have neighbours with a barking dog but it wasn't noisy at night. Such a fabulous view it was difficult to leave each day. Especially when a pod of bottlenose dolphins visited. To have the sea so close was wonderful.

  The beach access couldn't have been easier and it's a great place for kids since the road is behind the house (nothing between the front door and the sea except a pedestrian only promenade and beach).

• "The flat directly overlooked the sea, which was ever changing and mesmeric to watch."

  It was warm, very clean and comfortable. Spittal itself is a very clean place with lovely flowers around, members of the local community work hard as volunteers to provide this. Berwick is walkable, a short drive or a bus ride from the flat and is stuffed with history! Walk around the walls or along the river, the views are stunning wherever you look.. Edinburgh is 45 minutes on the train or a driveand we’ll worth a trip out. On a practical level there are plenty of supermarkets and small independent shops as well as the usual high street outlets.

• "Perfect! Two things combine to make for an exceptional holiday: the accommodation and the location."

  Accommodation. On the Beach is an exceptional apartment. Very clean and comfortable and everything is of such a high standard. The owners are so friendly and can't do enough to make sure your stay is memorable. Despite blustery weather outside the flat was lovely and cosy. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are extremely comfortable. Wonderful falling asleep with the sound of the sea outside. Location. It couldn't be better and provides for all needs. If you enjoy walking then no need for a car as it is on the Coastal Path. A short walk along the cliff path takes you on to some amazing and beautiful beaches. Alternatively, walking into Berwick and picking the coastal path North to Scotland is equally spectacular with the cliff top scenery. Berwick is a town full of character. I was able to enjoy some lovely cafe and pub food. Most important for me there are a lot of dog-friendly places. A car will allow you to explore the rest of Northumberland, which is breathtakingly beautiful. Alternatively, Edinburgh is only a 40min train ride away. At the end of the day, it is wonderful just to sit back in the apartment with a cup of tea looking out on to the beach. What more can you ask for!

• "The location of "On The Beach" is great and perfect for long walks, either along the miles of wonderful and near deserted beaches or into Berwick."

  The flat was comfortable, warm and very clean. Fast WiFi and smart tv for entertainment. Well equipped, though we would have liked larger towels, i.e. bath sheets, to have been provided. Communication with the owners via text was excellent. All in all a thoroughly good experience.

  As a frequent visitor to Northumberland, I am so pleased to have found this place to stay. It is perfect. It is spotlessly clean, contains everything that you could possibly need, and is so cosy and comfortable. The owners are most friendly and helpful. My dog absolutely loves the place - straight out of the front door and on to the beach, what more could a dog ask for. I can't wait to come back.

  Everything that is needed has been supplied, from washing up liquid, t-towels to kitchen foil etc. I have stayed in many holiday cottages and apartments - this is now top of my list! The view from the window is outstanding, it was so relaxing to hear the sound of the ocean. As a dog owner, it was fantastic to go straight out of the front door and on to the beach with the dog. I don't think he will forgive me for bringing him home. Spittal itself is a good location from which to explore the rest of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. It is an area of the world I know very well and I am delighted to have found this wonderful apartment as a base. Needless to say, I have already booked to go back.

• "Everything about on the beach apartment was absolutely perfect."

  Every area of this apartment was tastefully decorated & exceptionally clean. The beds were so comfortable & the owners had catered for our every need throughout. The kitchen is so well equipped with a decent oven, hotplate, microwave, washer & even a dishwasher! Everything you could ever possibly need for cooking during your stay was there and very clean. The bathroom has a lovely large walk in shower with great water pressure ( be careful with the setting as the water can be very hot). It also has a double fronted cupboard where you will find the ironing board & iron. Over the sink you will find a mirror with shelf & over the toilet is a heated towel rail. All in all a large beautiful bathroom. The master bedroom has a lovely wooden sleigh bed in and has 2 double fronted wardrobes & 2 bedside cabinets with lamps upon them. From this room you look out onto the beach with absolutely amazing views. The 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds in and a double fronted wardrobe. The view from this window overlooks the garden below and the place where the bus does its turn around. Again this bedroom was a very good size. The living room has 2 comfy sofas, 2 matching buffets, a tv & a table with 4 chairs. The room has a large window which even when seated you see the beach & the dolphins swimming by, we were in absolute awe each time they swam past! This apartment was a truly diamond find! We just can't say enough fabulous things about it

  Cleanliness throughout flat was imaculate . The owners had left lots of little touches. Fresh Cut flowers on table . Tea coffee milk biscuits.. Whereby they thought of everything for the flat ,and we felt deep gratitude towards them. The views from the windows with the waves crashing were mesmerising .
