"Beautiful little cottage and located just far enough from the farm to be private ."
.we're already talking about going back next year
-
"As seasoned cottage renters the outstanding features of this cottage for us were the extremely solicitous care we received from Zoe, very very comfortable beds and the tranquil, private location."
All other facilities were as expected for a highly rated Sykes cottage. Ideally placed for visiting the many historic sites in this beautiful area, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property. We could sit here and write a thesis on this wonderful cottage, but will end saying "thank you so much for a fantastic stay".
-
"The property was excellent , it was a pleasant stay and the owners were very accomodating."
-
"Spotlessly clean and charming, spacious cottage on St Oswald's Way."
We had a lovely stay in this secluded cottage with fantastic views. The hosts were helpful and friendly. The hot tub was perfect. We would love to stay again.
-
"I had a lovely time at thistleyhaugh cottage."
The property is very clean and has everything you could need for your stay. The cottage has a beautiful garden and fields all around. Using the hot tub with these views is very relaxing. The owners are lovely and were very helpful and prompt if I needed anything while there. There are plenty of places to visit locally and within an hour's drive of the property including the holy island, many castles and stately homes. Rothbury is worth a visit too!
-
"The cottage was fabulous."
Just about everything you need is provided, including a much appreciated welcome pack. It is in a very quiet and peaceful location. Just perfect if you want to get away from the daily hassles. It is also quite close to many places to visit.
-
"Second visit!"
Once again absolutely brilliant. So comfortable and once we parked our cars we didn’t go anywhere, The cottage is beautiful and had all we needed and more. Plenty towels, dressing gowns, toiletries, kitchen equipment, Hot tub fab and our host Zoe called each day to service the tub We were allowed to walk down to the farm to see the new lambs Will return again it’s amazing
-
"What a fantastic week we spent at the cottage."
It’s beautifully presented and clean and has everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. The hot tub was fabulous and we loved sitting by the log fire to warm up afterwards. The cottage is on a working farm and my children loved seeing all of the lambs and cows and waving to the farmers coming past with the sheepdogs. My 3 year old has decided he now wants to be a farmer when he grows up. We would love to return in the future.

"Had a lovely peaceful week staying but handy for getting out and about from ie to Newcastle and the coast, the cottage is spotless with everything you need, my only criticism and it’s only a small one is maybe a few more coat hangers in the wardrobes and a couple more or sharper kitchen knives, but all in it was a lovely cottage and would defo book again."
-
"Very cosy, comfortable and clean."
Wonderful views. A truly excellent cottage. We've been to several holiday cottages and this was the best!
-
"Absolutely wonderful holiday home, equipped with all you need and more, Zoe was amazingly helpful, and quite simply the best stay I have ever had anywhere in all my UK travels."
Thank you ever so much … 5 stars isn’t enough
-
"Absolutely stunning cottage."
Such a peaceful place to visit and the hot tub was just the icing on the cake. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate turning 40 with my family. We are already looking to book again, can’t wait to come back
-
"Absolutely beautiful cottage and a fantastic stay."
Really exceptional accommodation and loads of space and little extras. We will certainly be back! Just one tiny thing: it would be useful to pop a sign in the farmyard so that it's clear where to go in order to head up to the cottage...but only a minor thing by way of feedback. THANK YOU. We LOVED it!
-
"Would benefit from a games room in the conservatory for families …… this didn’t bother us at all , just thinking of accompanying children."
everything else was amazing couldn’t thank Louise and Zoe enough for their attention to detail and going the extra mile when the power cut. Beautiful cottage picturesque location and friendly hosts.
-
"Myself and my partner had a fantastic three nights rest just relaxing at the great cottage had no plans to visit anywhere in the area just wanted peace and quiet which this cottage fulfilled."
The hot tub was a bonus. I hope we left the property in good order and would like to thank the owner for cookies and soft drinks in the fridge. I would also like to thank the owner for the offer for paying for my car to be washed. I did not take them up on this offer as my car was already dirty before coming to their property but would like to thank them for their kind offer. We will return again sometime in the future. They have a great property I would like to have something of my own one day thanks again

"Home owner was very nice and helpful it made our stay more personal."
Would definitely go back and stay there again.
-
"Loved the cottage, loved where it was."
The sofas weren’t the comfiest but we didn’t book the cottage to sit there all day. It had everything you could think of - lots of games, books and dvds. We would love to go back.
-
"Sofas a bit firm, but that was the only thing I wasn't keen on."
Perfectly suitable for families kids and animals, fantastic with animals around. Beautiful hot tub. Can't wait for another trip.
-
"Amazing cottage set in a wonderful location."
Very private and quiet. Immaculate and bigger than we expected. Very central to all the attractions we love to visit. We will definitely be back!!
-
"The cottage was lovely."
In a beautiful quiet and peaceful spot. Cleanliness and comfort were first rate and we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay thanks to the thoughtfulness of the lovely owners.
-

Owners very friendly and helpful. Cottage situated ideally for sightseeing in Northumberland
-
"Fantastic stay with my mother and two sisters."
The cottage is beautiful, comfortable and has everything you need during your stay. In a very relaxing setting with beautiful views. Directions were easy and we found the cottage with no problems. On arrival there was wine, biscuits, milk and fresh juice which were very welcomed. We only had one car but there is ample parking space. The garden was beautiful and well maintained. The hot tub was amazing and we were lucky enough to have fine weather so made good use of it and the garden. We would definitely stay again.

"Loved our stay at Thistleyhaugh - the location was stunning and the house was everything we could have wished for."
Little touches like bathrobes and the welcome pack of food and wine was much appreciated. The house was spotless and had everything we needed to make our stay very enjoyable. Thank you !

"This was our second visit to the cottage and we were so thrilled to be back."
The cottage is warm, comfortable and really safe for our young child to explore. We love all the touches the owners have considered to help visitors relax such as the hot tub and the book shelf. It is also really well set up for a group of six, we were here with my parents and the two reception rooms mean it's easy for everyone to have some space. We can't wait to visit again.
-
"Very well appointed and comfortable house in a great location."
-
"We were very happy with the holiday cottage, it was lovely and warm, it was very clean, it was comfortable, there was everything we needed in the kitchen."
The hot tub was clean and well cared for. The bedding and towels were lovely and clean and nice quality. The road to the cottage was a typical farm road, but for us that added to the charm, including the sheep. Great holiday cottage. Thumbs up all round.
-
"We really enjoyed our stay with 4 adults and 2 infants."
The cottage is really spacious with beautiful views and so peaceful. We enjoyed visiting the farm close by and easily accessed lots of lovely towns in the area. The directions from Sykes actually took us to the B&B but the helpful farmer told us where to go. I just thought I’d mention it for future visitors.
-
"Wonderful property."
We really enjoyed our stay. Hosts were responsive. Hot tub was fantastic. Thank you for letting us staying at your bratufiul cottage.
-
"Had a lovely stay at the cottage."
Warm and cosy, great location, friendly owners. Highly recommend. Top tip...switch all the lights off including hottub lights when in there looking at the stars...just magical. If I was to make one recommendation I would suggest new TRVs on the rads....unbelievably we were too warm at times lol. It would also save owners some money.
-
"I’m was a lovely and relaxing stay but one point of contention is the fact limited hot water in the property."
5 of us stayed at the property and taking a hot or even warm shower was difficult for us all to have, we had to wait quite some time to be able to take a shower of a comfortable temperature. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay and would consider returning if the water issue was resolved.
-
"Great cottage with all the comforts of home."
Fantastic location for looking at the dark skies in the hot tub. Not too far from the coast for walks on the beaches. Good walks too over the fields down to the kennels & back round. Didn't manage to walk to the pub, but it is more of a food pub anyway. Highly recommend this cottage, but would love to see gin glasses at the properties we go to, instead of having to take our own. Also, a tray over the bath would be good, instead of having to reach up or down for toiletries. A good idea to take wellies as well as walking boots.
-
"A lovely property in a very quiet, rural location."
Well equipped, spacious, very clean and comfortable. With good wifi, 2 tvs and a smart speaker! There was a starter pack of food essentials, coffee and tea. Cafetiere for fresh coffee. The sky is away from street lights so provides a great way to star gaze whilst laying relaxed in the hot tub with a beer! It could do with a saute pan and a drainage rack for dishes for small washes rather than use the dishwasher.

"Lovely very well equipped cottage in a beautiful location"
-
"We just got home from the most relaxing stay at most the most beutiful cottage at the most beautifull surroundings."
The pictures on the listing doesn't do it justice. The cottage is spacious and cosy and we had everything what we needed and more. On arrival we were greeted with kind and toughtfull gift - delicious local butter, honey, bread and milk and cold prosecco and beers. Every room is perfect , the beds are very comfortable and the hot tube takes the whole experince on another level. We loved the view from the garden and the piece, quite and calm surroundings .The cottage is suitable for all ages - it is all fenced and secure if you have young kids and it is all on one floor if you have older or strugguling with stairs members of the family. We loved the little library at the lounge and the alexa in the kitchen.Thank you for creating this amazing space , we will be back.
-
"We loved it here."
The beds were comfortable, the cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub and the welcome gifts. Highly recommend.
-
"We had a lovely time."
Beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings. Clean and well equipped. Appreciated the welcome gifts. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Would be happy to stay again in the future.
-
"We had a lovely week away for the first time as a family of 4."
The cottage is ideal for kids with a secure garden and no neighbours (apart from sheep & cows!) to disturb. The cottage was like home from home with everything that you could need. We would thoroughly recommend.
-
"Fantastic property, spacious with stunning views, excellent hosts who go above and beyond if you need anything, would definitely stay here again."
-
"Very much enjoyed our stay, lovely cottage."
However, could do with more cutlery and crockery to cut down on number of dishwasher usage. Disappointed that hot tub was not particularly very clean on arrival and it was out of action for 24 hours, as was serviced midway during our stay. Could have been done on change over day, as this would have been more expected. Road surfaces very poor, even after part repair for 3 days.
-
"This cottage has our vote of the most beautiful, stunning holiday cottage we have ever stayed at for a few days away."
The photos don't do justice. Cottage was immaculate. Location and views breath-taking. Hot tub simply awesome. Rooms so cozy and comfortable. And last but not least, the owners so welcoming, warm and friendly, devoted to their amazing working farm and showing us around. Cant wait to be back soon and so grateful to them for an awesome few days away with the kids to see nature and the countryside at its stunning location.
-
"The property is beautiful and feels very much like home."
Very tasteful decor. All comforts catered for and everything immaculately clean. Delightful location surrounded by countryside. It was an added bonus to watch the cows, calves, sheep and lambs, not to mention the wildlife just outside our window. Welcome basket with basic groceries for first night was a thoughtful touch. Highly recommended and we hope to make a return visit.
