  • "Nice, clean ,warm and cosy with larger lounge than expected but small really hot bedroom especially on early mornings (did not want to adjust already set timer) Some handy info on TV /Sky and DVD would help as did not even notice Sky box at first."

Grab rails at front door steps and in shower would be appreciated for older guests but overall very happy with everything else and would love to stay again.

Hi Anne , Thanks for your feedback and it’s lovely to hear you would stay again . We do expect our guests to move the heating to come on when it suits them it’s not a problem. The shower grab rail is on the corner unit by the basin not sure how you missed it also with instructions on how to fit it . All of properties have them. The sky remote did have a printed label saying please leave the sky on but we found it had been removed so sorry about that . It will be replaced straight away . Also the property is getting painted next month weather permitting and an outside grab rail is on our list of to do things after the painters been . Hope this helps clear things up . We stayed for a week over Christmas and the owners had set a Christmas table, put up decorations and a beautiful tree and left some munchies and wine. We had a great time

Hi Valerie Thank you so much for your very kind words . So pleased you enjoyed your stay and found everything to your liking. Sorry we missed you as we were away on our holidays with our family hope to see you back in the near future Many thanks Pauline & Derek Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our time at the flat."

It was very clean and had everything you needed, it was also lovely and quiet. The owners are great, there if you need them but they also leave you to it, perfect. We stayed a few weeks so the only things we noticed are the knives need sharpening. A blackout blind would be good in the bedroom. If the light comes on out the back the whole room lights up. Sometimes you can smell cigarette smoke in the kitchen coming from another property. We would stay here again, the location was perfect and the internet great. Just what we needed. Thank you

Hi Hannah Thank you for your lovely comments . We did not know about the knives so thank you we now have a lovely new set and also a blackout blind has been added as well for guests comfort . So your feedback has been very helpful. Our property is a smoke free zone so not sure about this . Many thanks Pauline & Derek. Property Owner

  • "We had a great couple of weeks at Grand View."

It's the perfect size for two people. The bed and sofa are comfy and the rooms are all a decent size. The large living/dining room is spacious and you can see the sea from the window. The kitchen and bathroom are both modern and clean and we appreciated having all the essentials like loo roll, soap, and milk and bread there for us when we arrived. The owners are very kind and helpful without being intrusive. The location is lovely, just a minute's walk to the beach and within a few minutes of shops, cafes, and the Metro stop. We liked it so much that we immediately booked another stay!

Great location and lovely views. Helpful information and lots of nice touches. The shower did let us down by cutting out in our last morning but it came on again 30-45 minutes later. We’ve booked to come again next year. So looking forward to that.

Hi Nora, Thank you for your kind words and for rebooking your next stay at grand view. We are so pleased you enjoyed tynemouth and our holiday home. Sorry to hear about the shower we will monitor this as it was fine when when the plumber looked at it after your stay. Hopefully we will meet you on your next visit. Many thanks Pauline & Derek . • "A lovely holiday apartment."

Would recommend it to others. Bedroom was too small and didn't have enough storage but bed was really comfortable. The shower was just about adequate. Would have preferred a cubicle with sliding door, as it was a bit drafty and cool with no door. All in all , a very nice holiday home for summer months. The owners were very nice, friendly and helpful.

Hi Violet, Thank you for your comments but to be fair we feel the accommodation has enough storage for guests who stay a week or two. As you stayed two months while moving house we would have been happy to supply extra storage in the form of draws if asked. Sorry we failed you on this . Many thanks Pauline & Derek . Property Owner

Derek and Pauline dropped by to ensure all was well and are wonderful hosts. They have made the flat homely and comfortable. We can highly recommend Grand View for a peaceful, happy break in Tynemouth, close enough to beach and many places to eat and drink in the town.

  • "We've just had a lovely holiday in a beautiful location and we loved our holiday home that was a perfect base for our trip."

We know the area well and felt lucky to have found such a comfortable, reasonably priced home with two minute walk to the beach, ten mins walk to the fabulous restaurants and bars of tynemouth, and lots of public transport links to Newcastle. The owners visited at the start of our holiday to make sure everything was okay for us, and the other local residents were really helpful and reassuringly welcoming! A special thank you goes to a lovely lady, and local resident called Maggie, who was so kind, and keen to ensure we had a nice holiday and gave us books to read on the local history. We highly recommend this property because we felt we found it a real home from home!

Hi Darren Thanks for the great review we do appreciate people taking time to respond to feedback requests We are glad you had a great time visiting friends in the area and hope to see you again in the future Regards Derek & Pauline Property Owner

The Grand View was a lovely apartment, well equipped, clean and very comfortable. It was ideally located for local amenities in Tynemouth Village and close to the market at Tynemouth Station. The beach was very close by and the outlook was lovely. We would certainly stay at this property again.

  • "I’m thankful that the property owner telephoned me to make sure everything was ok."

During the call she mentioned there was a guest book with local information. I didn’t know this when I arrived as the cleaner had not put the book out, I found it after searching the flat. That aside I had a wonderful time and will likely return again as I have family in the area. The owner is a genuine person that really cares about her guests.

  • "Firstly the positives: the location is excellent - being able to see the sea out of the side window was a huge positive, as is the green space in front of the property."

Tynemouth is a short walk away as are a few lovely beaches. The living room is beautiful - lovely high ceilings with original details and modern décor which complemented the room. Yes, the bedroom is tight for space, but this is not much of an issue when you have such a lovely and large main living room to sit in and enjoy. Unfortunately there were a few niggles: Although we were very grateful for being able to move into another property when it was clear that the Internet connection did not work this did lead to stress and we lost at least two hours chasing this issue and then moving from one location to another. Relying on other guests to clean the dishes ready for the next guests is all well and good, but these should be checked when the cleaning is done in between guests. Two mugs had disgusting white deposits in the bottom and goodness knows what the sticky, oily substance was which was lining the cutlery drawer. In the end we washed items before we used them to be on the safe side and then didn't put them back into the cupboards! Additionally I'm not sure when the living room was last vacuumed thoroughly - my husband found bits of tinsel and Christmas tree needles on the floor (this was at the end of January). Overall the location was excellent, the flat was decorated well, but the cleaning was poor and the broken Internet, although resolved, did cause issues.

Hi Claire Thanks for the positive feedback. Regarding the the cleanliness of the flat we used an external cleaning company as we were out of the country visiting family for Xmas and new year and did not return till jan 30th. In the future we will consider closing down the property when we are away We do not ask or expect guests to clean anything in our holiday lets as it is something we pride ourselves on. We have now changed the bed to a divan and installed a DVD player with assorted DVDs The internet problem was traced to a broken wire under the bedroom carpet which was fixed the day after we moved you into our other accommodation four doors down the road . • "A holiday home of 2 halves."

What a lovely living room as expected given the type of property. Spacious and grand. Lots of extras/gimmicks in the property like an Alexa but missed key fundamentals. Was dumbfounded at the lack of tea/coffee and milk as these have without fail always been provided previously in the many Hoseasons/Sykes and similar holidays I've booked. So the second half of the property, well, it's a shame about the bedroom and shower room. With lots of twists and turns and protrusions the place really isn't suitable for any people who are - how can I put this kindly - generously proportioned. No idea why a double bed with a large wooden frame was provided in such a pokey room. A divan would have been better and wouldn't have bruised my leg and no doubt others staying there. A sleigh bed as well. No good for anybody of above average height. Pillows were too full as well. They should be thinner. We couldnt sleep on them. Not something I've ever had an issue with anywhere else. The boiler was powerful and radiators hot but why oh why fit a piddly 8.5KW shower. I really struggled to get wet. Either go for a higher power electric one or just run a thermostatic one off the boiler. So all in all a lovely living room but the rest leaved a lot to be desired. And the old fella living there who chucks his glass bottles loudly into his recycling bin at 6.30 EVERY morning was the icing on the cake.

Hi Chris Thanks for your feedback . We do appreciate comments good and bad and are fairly new to the holiday let industry. I will endeavour to replace the shower with a power shower and install a divan bed. We did provide condiments but no one used them during the Covid pandemic. Thanks for your observations. • "This was our first trip to Tynemouth so we didn’t know what to expect."

It was also our first time using Sykes Cottages. We were anxious about taking a holiday during the virus situation. Sykes and the house managers made sure that everything possible was done to relieve us of any stress. We appreciated how clean the flat was and the pre- trip emails we received. Our managers, Derek and Pauline, went to great lengths to make sure our stay was comfortable and relaxed. Tynemouth was very well prepared too and is going to great lengths to ensure safety. We had a great trip. Highly recommend Riley’s Fish Shack and Longsands Fish Kitchen for great dining experiences.
