"A charming cottage in a great location."
A short walk to Tynemouth, Fish Quay, Cullercoats and Whitley Bay all boasting plenty of eating options.
"A great cottage in an amazing location."
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
"The gas fire did not work, the kitchen tap is dripping to the point where it is pouring out."
This is mentioned many times in the visitor book but hasn’t been repaired. The cooker was almost impossible to use too. Location was fantastic and we were just using the cottage as a base to visit local family so it was perfect for us. Would definitely recommend.
"We could not get the fire to work at all."
The pilot light came on but, after a few seconds, went out again. This meant we had to use the central heating instead. Also, the tap over the kitchen sink dripped constantly and, by the time our week was up, it was almost free flowing. A waste of water. 2 minor things that did not spoil our fabulous week in this lovely cottage.
"Lovely cottage in an outstanding location - two minutes walk into Tynemouth Front St with great places for coffee, restaurants and shopping; two beautiful beaches, King Edward's Bay and The Haven; the ruined priory and castle; the pier; the coastguard station museum; Collingwood's monument; a short walk to the quays; the sea life centre."
.. there is plenty to do right on the doorstep. The cottage itself is an old stone semi-detached coastguard cottage, it is well furnished, clean and comfortable. There are three private parking spaces and there is a little private yard where you can hang washing. There's also a little yard out the front where you can watch boats coming into the Tyne. Would highly recommend.
"The only real issues that I have with this property are the stairs and the all downstairs toilet facilities."
The stairs are not very good if you have some walking difficulties. I never felt safe all week and the single hand rail does not allow you to grab it securely. If you don't have these issues and don't mind the downstairs facilities then it should be ok for you.
"A beautiful cottage well equipped and furnished and for us well located offering good walking access to Front Street, Tynemouth and beyond (we walked to St."
Mary's Lighthouse and back and North Shields Fish Quay). We would highly recommend this cottage xx
"Beautiful cottage and great location."
Everything just right and will definitely go back
"Great stay, great location."
Very well equipped for holiday cottage. Would certainly look at staying again.
"Property is not easy to find, no clear signpost of where the property is and which parking spaces were ours."
A kind neighbour helped us and told us parking Bay 6 and 5 was ours. The cottage advertises 3 parking spaces which is partly why we chose this cottage as we were meeting with family so we were quite dismayed on the Sunday when we were challenged about parking in bay 5 by someone claiming that this is a space that their son normally parks in. Has this cottage got 3 parking spaces or not? The key safe came completely off the wall when trying to access the keys, broken lamp in the twin room and the downstairs television was impossible to get working. We did email the owners on Friday and they did get back to us on the Monday but we were back home then. However this is a nice cottage tucked away in a quiet area so a shame it lets itself down in a few areas. This would have been an ideal cottage for us to come to regular for meeting family but will not stay again due to the parking debacle.
"A gorgeous Cottage in a great location."
Very comfortable. We had a fabulous week here with lots to see and do and excellent walks on the doorstep. Our visit also gave us the opportunity to reunite with family who we hadn't seen for quite some time.
"Some clearer instructions about how to use the oven would have been welcomed as it took us a while :)"
"Would have been 5 stars if there was a dishwasher!"
Even a slimline one would have made our holiday a proper break.
"This perfect little cottage is situated in such a fantastic location."
I loved our morning cuppa sitting out, looking at the sea and watching the gulls. Just a few paces around the corner and we would watch the activities in the bay. We enjoyed a short circular walk around this part of Tynemouth which gave us a great feel for the place whilst stopping to enjoy the market and of course the great views! The cottage itself has everything you need. Really well set up and the decoration is just right. Our teenagers enjoyed the access to bars as we did too. Great history on your doorstep - a perfect getaway, and Hank you.
"Great location with easy access to the beaches and other locations within N’umberland."
Owner has created a beautiful holiday with a very good quality of kitchen supplies, furniture etc.
"Great location, local to beaches, shops, restaurants, etc"
"The cottage was spotlessly clean and well maintained in a lovely setting within ..."
The cottage was spotlessly clean and well maintained in a lovely setting within reach of all that Tynemouth has to offer The facilities within the cottage are as described - it is worth noting that the bathroom is downstairs whilst the two bedrooms are on the first floor and as a personal choice I would prefer a dishwasher to washing machine however this would not prevent us from staying again We loved the sonos system as we listen to music whenever we are inside A perfect cottage for couples or small family holiday near beautiful beaches and attractive ruined priory and castle
"The cleanliness of the cottage, especially with the Corona Virus throughout the country, was excellent."
The cottage was cosy and had all the facilities needed.
"Well equipped cottage in a beautiful location."
Lovely cosy feel with fresh decor and soft furnishings.
"A small comment would be that the addition of a dishwasher would have been good."
But that's only a minor criticism. Otherwise, it was perfect! The cottage was beautifully appointed and was a great bolt hole for our short break over the New Year period.
"Well equipped & stylish cottage."
My two small children, husband & I all felt very comfortable & cosy here.
"The Tynemouth Cottage is in a stunning location with views of the ocean, river and Priory."
The cottage is comfortable, clean and well-equipped. On this occasion it was decorated for Christmas making our stay extra special.
"Excellent property and your staff were very helpful when I had questions."
"This is a Friday to Friday booking."
Fridays are the worst possible days to be travelling home, with workers rush hour now starting earlier and earlier, being mixed with holiday travellers We suffered an horrific journey down the M6, with the result that we intend never book a cottage on a Friday to Friday basis again.
"The cottage was spotless and well-appointed."
Good wi-fi and tv for us techies. I have only slightly downgraded the facilities because there is no bathroom on the same floor as the bedrooms but this would not be a problem for those less elderly than us. The beds are comfortable and lots of coat hangers was a good idea. One very, very small point to raise was that although I was advised to bring beach and tea towels, I wasn’t told to bring toilet paper expected more than one third of a roll to be provided. Luckily, there is a co-op on Front Street With long opening hours, Tynemouth Cottage is in a lovely and quiet location with fabulous walks in all directions. I thoroughly recommend it.
"For the elderly having no toilet accessible beside the bedrooms was a downside if you required to go to the toilet at night."
The stair is steep and maybe not suitable for everyone. A photograph included in the cottage description would have been useful. However the cottage location was very good and finishes and equipment were very good.
"The toilet takes about 30 min to fill."
The hot tap is still loose in the bathroom. the second bedroom roof leaked on to a single bed during a very violent thunderstorm. Sykes response to the roof leaking was somewhat underwelming. Had it carried on leaking it could have become a problem. The location is great
"The cottage is in a fabulous location, close to the beach and Tynemouth Front street."
The cottage provides a quiet, relaxing base from which to explore the area. It is tastefully decorated and well-equipped. This was our second visit to this cottage and we will return.
"We had a lovely family holiday at this comfortable & clean cottage."
It's in the most stunning and quiet location but only a few minutes from the shops, bars, restaurants & gorgeous beaches. There is plenty to do nearby. I would highly recommend the cottage & Tynemouth for anybody wanting a traditional but up-market UK family beach holiday. My only tiny annoyance was that there wasn't any information in the cottage about what to do about taking the rubbish out & how to do the recycling but apart from that - perfect!
"Lovely comfortable cottage in a great location."
Well equipped with good quality appliances but could have done with a wardrobe in the main bedroom. It is also equipped with a good quality Sonos system which was an added bonus The cottage has steep stairs with narrow treads and is up a steep hill so would probably not suit anyone with mobility problems!
"Most enjoyable stay at the Tynemouth Cottage, Spotlessly clean a big thank you to the lady that does, Ideally situated for town, beaches and travelling around the area, leave your car on the private parking area and use the local buses or metro line."
"The Tynemoth Cottage is a very clean and well appointed two bedroom dwelling."
It's fantastic location is querky, interesting and puts you right on the sea front. It's close proximity to the main town belies this quiet retreat. My wife and I enjoyed our seven day holiday here very much. It was the perfect place to stay to utilise the amenities of Tynemouth and it's road and rail network make it ideal as a base for visiting Newcastle and the North East of England. We would absolutely recommend the Tynemouth Cottage for the perfect getaway break.
"The cottage and Tynemouth are excellent, we had a lovely holiday."
"Only problem there was no small tables in the lounge to put drinks on otherwise a lovely cottage"
