Nicely decorated, well equipped with everything required. Near to beach and shops, which was great. Nearby facilities good, pubs nearby and Maritime Centre with cafe on beach very nice. Newbiggin on sea a quietish little town with great character and some lovely craft shops. Within reasonable driving distance for a day out is National Trust and Alnwick Castle, Farne Islands boat trip (fantastic) and other fabulous beaches. Would definitely recommend.

We had some difficulty accessing the key but this was sorted out by a quick call to the owner. There were some issues with the heating and the instructions were unhelpful but we coped. We would definitely recommend Salee Cottage as a base for visiting Northumberland. The Inkspot Craft ale bar was excellent and the Artisan tea room is a must visit.

It is in a really good position close to all amenities. 5min walk to the promenade and a good pub at the end of the street. Limited menu for food but food was very good and staff very friendly, infact everyone we met was friendly. It is also in a good location for trips out along the lovely coastline as far as Bamburgh and behond. All in all a lovely stay.

Newbiggin-by-the-sea is a lovely town. We enjoyed the beach and the bakery in the town. We enjoyed the private outdoor space at the back of the cottage. There is a good (mostly) off-road cycle route nearby and some lovely walks. The swimming pool at nearby Ashington is an excellent facility.

Recommend the fish at the shop/cafe at Life Boat Museum in village also the Rotary Parkway at Wansbeck Business Pk, very pleasant staff and great steak, reasonably priced. Guests not putting bin out - black bin full, we emptied green bin - they are each put out alternative weeks Monday evening - should have Council bin calendar pinned up as days could change bank hols.

  • "Short walk to the town and beach which was good."

Easy access to lots of areas to visit. The only downside for us was the sharp corners at the end of the bed, the bed frame being too big for the room, inches from the wall which meant you had to walk sideways to get past the bottom of the bed.

We're in the middle of moving, I can't tell you the relief I felt on opening the door to find such a lovely cared for environment. The double room had the comfiest bed with good quality duvet and linens. I slept soundly every single night , so well in fact that I'm going to seek a similar mattress for my new home. Thank you to the owners who clearly take responsibility for the experience of the guest very seriously. Highly recommended.

The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of space to store any clothes. The bathroom is lovely, with an excellent shower cubicle. The kitchen is well supplied with equipment and the living space is very well arranged. There is an Indian restaurant and an Italian restaurant in easy walking distance and both are excellent and we would highly recommend them. • "I was not happy with the main bedroom."

The bed was too long for the space with a wooden end .This meant that I had to slide carefully along the wall to avoid banging my knees to get to the other side of the room window, dresser, wardrobe etc. There was only one bedside table and lamp on the far side of the bed. We used the laundry box as a table for glasses, book etc. The kitchen was very good but unfortunately the cooker switch also switches off both fridges as I discovered after 24 hours! This is surely not safe?

Suggest on the directions it is made clear that after the left turn by the Victoria pub the next right is an alleyway then at the top of that the left turn is over some ramped kerbs and New Queen street and Queen Street are the same place just different sides of the street. otherwise the directions were fine.

Wow!! what a place --a home from home. Everything we wanted was there. One could spend a week there without going out, there was TV (freesat), a DVD player with about 200 DVDs, two shelves of books to read, a radio/CD player and plenty of games. The cottage is a terraced house with very friendly neighbours. Comfortable beds with linen provided and a well fitted out bathroom, towels provided, together with an exceptionally furnished lounge made the holiday a welcome break from the tedium of daily life.
