  • "We had a lovely stay at Cheviot Hills."

It was a perfect base to explore the Northumbrian countryside and coast. Kitchen was well stocked. And the beds were comfortable. The hot tub was also lovely and Terri sorted out some issues we had with no problem whatsoever. Really loved our welcome pack! The log burner was amazing as it was a bit chilly some nights. The towel rail in one of the bedrooms isn’t working - not an issue but worth mentioning so it can be fixed. Would highly recommend Cheviot Hills to any group of friends or family. Thank you ❤️

  • "Cheviot Hills was a great place to stay and we really enjoyed our time there."

We loved the central location in Wooler, the kitchen and property overall having everything we needed and watching the stars from the hot tub. And the welcome hamper was appreciated and quickly consumed! Wooler had everything we needed food-wise, and was a great place to explore the surrounding countryside, hills and stunning coast. The only (very minor) suggestion is that the wifi password in the guest information needs to be updated to the current hub one.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We will sort the password out, you are the first guests to use our new hub so thank you for the reminder. Best wishes Jackie and Andrew Property Owner

  • "We loved Cheviot Hills, its a huge space, comfortable, and well stocked with everything you need."

Very handy for amenities and within reasonable travelling distance from visitor attractions. The raised decking and hot tub area are fantastic. The only things I would improve would be making it clear there is no garden for dogs and it's a fair walk to find a patch of grass...this was inconvenient, but didn't spoil the overall holiday. Also, maybe pack a hot water bottle or 2 as it can be a bit chilly downstairs at night! Overall it was fab and I would recommend a stay.

A good base for travelling out to the coast and to towns nearby, eg. Bamburgh, Seahouses and Alnwick. Spotless on arrival, plenty of room for our family of five, comfortable beds with lovely clean linen. We enjoyed the hot tub and wood burner especially, offering perfect ways to stay warm during our April visit. A good welcome pack was left for us as well as thoughtful touches for the dog - bowls, a towel and treats. Would very much recommend this lovely house.

  • "This is a beautiful big property in a lovely area."

Ideal for family groups and friend groups. Every effort has been made to ensure comfort of the guests. Being an old stone building it takes some heating during a low season stay but the log burner and cosy blankets provided ensure comfort. A thoughtful welcome pack made a good starter to our stay. I imagine during warm weather the hot tub, bbq and deck area would make a great social hub, on the occasional sunny morning even during a chilly march we were able to enjoy breakfast outdoors looking out over the Cheviot Hills. Thank you to Terri for a great week

It was very hot weather for the first few days and the bedrooms were cooler, being downstairs. The hot tub and deck were a real hit, particularly with the teenagers and there's lovely views for eating outdoors. Wooler is a lovely little town with a good supermarket, restaurants & pubs as well as several takeaway options. All of that is easily walkable from the house. We found the Cheviot Hills and Wooler to be an excellent location for our different interests. We are walkers, birders, historians and shoppers and all found something to suit our tastes. The house was clean, warm, comfortable and plenty large enough with four good size bedrooms downstairs and 4 bathrooms ( 2 en suite). The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge and dining room easily large enough for all of us. It was a pleasure to sit out on the decking, and in the hot tub, with views over the town and of the surrounding hills. The town has a range of shops and food establishments that will cater for most needs. There was so much for us to see and do in the area. We would be happy to go back for another holiday there and do the things we didn’t have time for on this holiday.

  • "The cottage was beautiful however, due to a power cut 2 hours into our holiday we were without any electric, heating or phone connections for the whole 3 days!"

!!! We have stayed at this property before, so we are aware that the owner only lives 3-4 minutes away, however they never bothered to check if we were ok. The whole of the village was without power, so they would have been aware. There was no torch or candles left and no wood for the log burner, which would have been the only form of heat we had, the temperature got down to minus 3. All of the food we had taken went off, due to having no electricity, so that was £75 worth of food gone!!! All we had was bread but nothing to put on it, as the butter had gone off!!! We were unable to call the people who had dropped us off to come and collect us, so we had no option but to stay until we were picked up 3 days later. All in all, it was an absolute disgrace and no offer of any kind of recompense!!!

We are pleased that you think the cottage is beautiful and decided to return for another visit having stayed on a previous occasion. It is indeed very disappointing that storm Arwen caused such a disruption to your weekend break. It is unfortunate that you were unable to locate the welcome pack of logs that we leave for our guests or the torches that are available within the property. At least Neil was able to respond quickly to your request by phone for more logs and candles and in fact was was out in the worst of the weather chopping the extra logs to ensure a plentiful supply. We were disappointed to read that you felt that no one made contact with you to check that you were ok as attempts were made to speak to you by phone and text, but as you said phone signals were a problem. With this in mind Neil did call to the property to offer any further assistance but he found it difficult to locate you. This has been a stressful and challenging time for everyone in Wooler and we are sorry if the situation that everyone found themselves may have affected you. Best wishes, The Owners of Cheviot Hills.
