  • "Owner was extremely rude and unpleasant."

Cameras over hot tub and no lighting in a really dark setting. The list could go on I wouldn’t recommend staying in place.

  • "The only issue we had was people from other accommodation kept knocking on the door as there was no one on site to contact."

One couple had no key code and the other had no bedding. Owners contact number would have been better than booking companies as contact was hard out of hours

  • "Overall the property was lovely, nicely presented and clean."

A lovely peaceful, secluded spot. The lane to the property is very narrow, but provides stunning views. During my stay the wifi was not working at all, which was a problem for me as I'm self employed, so I need to be able to use my laptop. There were no details about the property or local area, which is usual in these type of properties.

  • "The cottage is good in itself but there are small things that need to be put right."

The bedding, duvet, pillows and the covers all need to be replaced as they are old, worn, thin and stained. The mattresses also are not top quality. The photos on Sykes website of the surroundings are misleading. From the photos it looks like the hot tub is in a nice garden surrounded by woodland. In fact it is in a corner in between the cottage and the fencing around the front of the house. The only view you get is the cottage, the fence and the parking space outside of the fence. There is not much privacy either from the car park. This is not what we expected. There was a tv in each bedroom but in my room I could not find the remote control so could not watch the tv. The tv in the lounge is really good with plenty of choice of channels. I noticed in this bedroom that a picture on the wall was not flush so I took a look to find that it was just about hanging onto a piece of wood at the top that the picture was hiding a hole in the wall where the electricity fuse box was and there were two thick cable which had been cut just hanging down, Finishing touches are important and this should have been boxed in professionally. Also beware of the track down to the cottage. It is littered with pot holes so you have to be careful with your car. This is not soley down to the owners but it should be mentioned on the website to warn drivers. The hot tub can only be used from 10am - 10pm, again this is not mentioned on the website. As another person reviewed the parking space is tight for this cottage. It is a shame because this cottage would be a nice base to stay if all of the above were rectified.

  • "The cottage was on a whole lovely, the facilities were great."

The cleanliness was awful, me and my partner got through 5 pairs of socks each in 2 days as the floors were so dirty. The towels smelt really musty and unclean. There was dirt and cobwebs all over the property that was in plain sight so it was obvious it wasn’t cleaned beforehand. We had hairs on our pillows, and stains all over the rugs. The people stopping upstairs were really loud in the early hours of the morning, using their hot tub when there is a 10pm time cut off for using that. We really didn’t feel comfortable staying in the cottage so it resulted in us leaving a night early than paid for due to the dirt and noise. For what you pay, you would expect a clean property, especially with the covid variety at the moment. So this was really disappointing. Will not be using again sadly.

  • "Fabulous location, the price is definitely reflective of the location and landmarks near by."

Not reflecting other parts of the property. There is very tight parking and the owners came across a little bossy. The bedding was awful to look at all brown stained and ripped when we had to take our sheets off. However the cottage is clean loved the bathroom and facilities. The curfew for the hot tub was a shame. Over all would go again. Just think the stained bedding and bobbly pillows need changing and it would be fabulous!

  • "The property was modern and very well presented in most respects, apart from the towels."

We found these to be of particularly poor quality and quantity, especially for a week stay. This was the only thing that let the cottage down, apart from this we had a lovely stay. The cottage is in an ideal location for touring the region and the Hot Tub was an added bonus.

The cottage was spotless on arrival and Lorna couldn't have been more helpful. The area is absolutely beautiful to bet away from it all. The hot tub was brilliant at the end of a busy day. Will definitely be booking again. Can't recommend highly enough.

Very dark inside no windows in bedrooms very hot and airless so unable to get a good nights sleep as we are elderly we sat reading in the evening and found the seating not very comfortable but we did enjoy our stay and found it ideal for touring and walking around the area A big plus was the access and the great shower
