  • "The cottage was ideal for a couple."

The kitchen was really well equipped. Sharon met us on arrival and explained how to use the cooker, TV etc and suggested some local places to visit which was much appreciated. The cottage is well situated for visiting places of interest in all directions. The nearby pub The Black Lion was busy and very friendly. John and Pat.

  • "We had a great holiday at Roaches View."

The home is comfortable and very well equipped and we had a lovely warm welcome from Sharon, who's a mine of information. We were able to enjoy the garden during our stay due to the warm weather. Plenty of walks from the door. Highly recommend.

  • "Lovely greeting from Sharon, and appreciated milk and biscuits."

Good walks from property and good choice of places to visit further afield. Local pubs along canal and we especially liked Black lion at Cheddleton. Property very clean and very well equipped. Good quality linens and towels. Shower was perfect. Private parking on drive, and very friendly neighbours whom we met whilst walking our dog. Refuse and recycling needs better info, states blue bin and blue lid but there is neither. Only negative for us was the bed which is a small double and quite low. Would definitely recommend property.

The only problem was that the garden was not secure for our dog so we had to take him out on the lead.

  • "This was a perfect place for us to relax."

Great views both sides, very clean, tidy and very well equipped. All in all a very comfortable stay, like a home from home. Sharon was very welcoming and had very good knowledge of the area, giving us plenty of places to visit during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. There are two donkey's on the field at the back of the property (Gemma and Abbi) who come to see you every morning for their carrots. We would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area and would definately go back to stay if we visit the area again. Vic & Paula (Nottingham)

The area is very quiet and peaceful and we loved the two friendly donkeys in the field at the bottom of the garden. The apartment is well located for visiting Leek, Buxton and Ashbourne etc. and there are also a lot of good walks nearby particularly in the Churnet Valley where the railway runs next to the river and canal.

Quiet & peaceful to relax, but not to far from town if you want to go & explore. Sharon (local agent) came to meet us & explained everything in great detail. She made sure we were comfortable & was a font of knowledge for great places to visit, eat or travel to. The owner (Patrick) also called to make sure we were happy & everything was to our liking..customer service excellent. The cottage is kitted out & finished to a very high standard, the hot tub was excellent, and we also got to meet the donkeys at the end of the garden every morning when they came to say hello ! We will definitely visit here again..we highly recommend it as a beautiful place to stay. Spencer & Elayne Robins

It's lovely and quiet with good views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the property to be perfect for what we needed. It was well equipped, clean, modern and tastefully decorated. The only tiny thing is the bathroom works perfectly fine and is overall finished well, but there's a couple of cosmetic things that could help such as painting over where the towel rail was moved and the old fixings have been plastered over.

About the location

CHEDDLETON

Leek 3.5 miles; Stoke-on-Trent 9.2 miles; Alton 12 miles.

The lovely, traditional Staffordshire village of Cheddleton is situated in the Staffordshire Moorlands, near to the market town of Leek, with a handful of shops, pubs serving food and a lovely restaurant. Visit the nearby Churnet Valley Railway, originally opened in 1849, and now a lovely attraction for steam enthusiasts and families alike. The Cheddleton Flint Mill is a prime example of Staffordshire's industrial past, a flint-grinding watermill previously used for supplying the pottery industry further along the canal in Stoke-on-Trent. Nearby is Leek, surrounded by lovely moorland countryside. The town has a charming cobbled market place and many examples of fine Victorian architecture - a reminder of the town’s prosperity when it was renowned as a silk manufacturing centre. Today Leek offers a wide selection of shops including vast antique emporiums, bookshops and galleries and a good selection of restaurants and real ale pubs. Alton Towers is less than a 20-minute drive away; throw in the mix of walks, cycle routes, rock climbing on the Roaches and the area’s wealth of historic houses and visitors will be returning again and again!

Please note that due to being in a quiet residential area where noise levels will need to be kept to a normal standard, this property may not be suitable for younger couples.
