The bungalow is clean and has everything required for a pleasant stay. The bottle of milk left for us in the fridge by the helpful owners John and Karen, was a nice touch (and the bottle of wine an even nicer one – thank you). The garden is extremely dog friendly and we had no worries that our two small dogs could find an escape route. We spent time relaxing in the conservatory, which is ideal for just sitting and reading. The surrounding area is dog friendly and there are some nice walks available close by. Ashby is a short walk away and is a pleasant small market town with plenty of small shops, cafes and pubs. We would certainly have no hesitation in recommending or staying at Lynsted Lodge again.

The provision of bowls, toys and towels for the dog , and the welcome wine and milk ready for a cuppa when we arrived was really appreciated The location of the property is very quiet and is a perfect base for walking the many trails nearby, is central to lots of attractions, and in walking distance to to the town which has many pubs, restaurants and cafes, interesting shops and amenities. It's a real home from home. We had a very relaxed stay, and would be happy to return to see more of the area.

  • "Location great."

House needed upgrading, bathroom was disgusting full of dirt and mould .would not recommend.

Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry to hear you had a problem with mould in the bathroom. This was a big surprise to us as it is not an issue we have experienced before with the property and we also had no report of it throughout any of the contact we had with you through the week. In fact you advised of no problems when we asked how things were going. We assure you we would have made it a priority to have this attended to had you reported it, either to ourselves or Sykes. A very small amount of condensation damp was found in the bathroom upon your departure, which was removed easily with a general cleaner and has not returned since. As the fan turns on in the bathroom with the light, I'm inclined to think the very bright days we've been experiencing mean that you were not turning the light on during use of the shower and the ventilation was not as it should be. There is a window in this room that can be opened for alternative ventilation in cases like this. We will of course monitor this on every changeover, but do not anticipate it will be a recurring problem given that guests prior to and since your stay have not experienced the same issue. • "I had a very enjoyable week."

The cottage was spacious and clean. It was in a quiet residential street very close to the town and amenities, and there was a park close by for dog walking. It was very dog friendly - which is very important to me - with toys etc available and a nice secure garden. The owners were very helpful and friendly - I didn't actually see them, but they responded quickly to texts and provided me with a tray as soon as I asked and invited me to use the (dog friendly) Social Club whenever I wished. The conservatory was lovely and I enjoyed sitting in there with my cross stitch in the afternoons. There was a large fridge/freezer which was very useful. I gave 4 stars only because it was great but there was no wow factor - the shower was a Triton which was just about adequate (I always find the Triton ones rather pathetic and it takes ages to wash shampoo out of my hair or get the shower gel washed off), the bed was a bit uncomfortable and seemed old, there wasn't a dishwasher, and I wasn't expecting to be in a residential street with neighbours. The garden wasn't particularly peaceful as it was surrounded on all sides by other gardens - in which there were other dogs which wound mine up! But these are minor things which did not spoil my overall enjoyment of my stay
