    Very clean and comfortable. Melbourne is a lovely little town with plenty of pubs, restaurants and takeaways to choose from. Chip shop, Chinese takeaway and Indian restaurant were all lovely. We would highly recommend this barn and location. Thank you for a lovely stay

  • "Excellent stay and has a wow factor."

    Wonderful accommodation and very quiet and peaceful with fabulous views. Well kitted out kitchen and lovely treats. Wi- fi was perfect and beds comfortable. Our only negatives were.. the shower does not drain quickly enough and there is water egress to the bathroom, a sign with the cottage name would be helpful when arriving in the dark (the key safe is behind the drain pipe) and use of an outside tap to rinse doggy paws. Otherwise a perfect stay!

    Very well equipped and comfortable , with the exception of the two sofas , which were a little " slumpy" Unfortunately on the Friday of our stay a portable generator was being used within the confines of the property for most of the day and was slightly disturbing .

  • "An excellent property, we have stayed on three occasions in the last 3 months."

    Comfortable and warm in the main bedrooms and spacious kitchen/lounge/dining area. The games room is cooler, but you have to appreciate that you are living in a converted barn with high roof structure. The underfloor heating to living areas and the luxurious bathroom, and bedroom 2 works very well. The view from the living room window, overlooking Melbourne pool is superb, as are the sunrises. A discreet sign indicating the front door to Tithe Barn would be a help, when we first arrived, it was wet and dark, and it took us a while, and talking to local residents to know where the entrance was. My wife has mobility issues, but the 8 steps up to the first floor level were quite manageable, and once up there, everything is on one level. Church bells, and bell ringing practice are fine, it is a beautiful church next door. There is some aircraft noise from Castle Donnington, but that is unavoidable all around the area, and only at certain times, it did not detract from our stay. The staff from the Estates office dealt with any queries we had in a pleasent and efficient manner. Melbourne itself is a delightful village, and very friendly.. We reccomend the property and the location, but would rather keep it as a well kept secret!

  • "The first-floor property is in a lovely location overlooking Melbourne Pond."

    It is comfortable and well-equipped, and very convenient for walks, exploring, shops, pubs, etc. The only noise was from church-bells, ducks and geese - completely charming! We will definitely be back.

    Very relaxing break. Barn is lovely - comfy beds, kitchen well equipped for what we needed, snooker table appreciated by teenage son as were the welcome cakes.

  • "Highly recommend- lovely building extremely well equipped and comfortable."

    Beautiful area and views and lovely walks. Nearby facilities are great. Very much appreciated the lovely welcome gifts and snooker table/ games were well received. Would have liked a sweeping brush and mop. Access to the garden at the back would have been a lovely addition and plenty of room for a dart board in the game room. Property wasn’t the easiest to identify so a name plaque would be a great addition and a few proud nails in the floor in the game room need knocking back in. It is a beautiful building though and we will definitely be back and highly recommend it to others.

  • "What a wonderful magical place Tithe Barn is."

    We felt so comfortable and relaxed. Melbourne has everything you’d wish for and Melbourne Hall, the beautiful gardens and of course Johnny Vegas’ Fields of Dreams are within a couple of minutes walk. The view of the lake with the swans, geese and ducks from the lounge window is breathtaking. Anyone tall, wear a hat as there are low beams! You WILL get used to them. Can’t recommend enough.

    Everything surpassed our expectations. We were very comfortable, the furnishings and bedrooms inviting and a well equipped kitchen . The bathroom was warm and I would say luxurious.   • "It was a home away from home."

    The hosts had thought of everything - even with an 18 month old in tow. Lovely cakes and toiletries were awaiting us on arrival. Fabulous location to access the facilities of Melbourne Hall and their Gardens. The food market in the Courtyard on Wednesday evenings is a must and so is the brewery and tea rooms. Easy walk in to town where there are a number of independent shops, cafes and a Sainsbury’s local. We had a fabulous stay and well worth booking.

Melbourne is a small Georgian market town in a delightful part of South Derbyshire on the edge of The National Forest. It is about 8 miles south of Derby and 2 miles from the River Trent. It contains a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. The village is also home to The church of St Michael with St Mary which is on the site of a much earlier Anglo Saxon building, and is regarded as one of the finest Norman Parish Churches in the country. It is 8 miles north of Swadlincote. There is much to enjoy in the village, including a lovely relaxing walk through rolling South Derbyshire countryside, starting from Melbourne’s medieval market place. Two of the county’s gems, Melbourne Hall and the Parish Church of St Michael’s, are passed in the early part of your stroll. Make the most of this attractive location all year round.
