    "Birch lodge was exactly as described with everything we needed for our week away."

    We received a warm welcome from Adam, the owner and he checked everything was ok when we saw him again the next day. We had a comfortable bed and the hot tub was lovely. The property was very clean and the welcome hamper was very much appreciated. A great setting with lots to do in the local and wider area. Would absolutely recommend a stay at Steam Mill Lodges.

    "Staying at Birch is a great place for a weekend away."

    Its location is directly in between two cities where we can travel easily for things to do, dining, entertainment etc. its facilities and accommodation were comforting, easy and peaceful. The lodges atmosphere was great and it was very quiet at night and throughout the day. No noises that could keep you up at night. It was clean and tidy on arrival and we were accommodated properly with utensils, spare items, bathroom supplies etc. Overall, great place to stay .

    "The stay was so lovely and perfect for a short holiday ."

    Super easy to get in and out of site , with things like Twycross zoo a short drive away (which was amazing). The hot tub was amazing and the views from our lodge were beautiful. We also liked how there was a tv in both living area space and bedroom. Would highly recommend this place to anyone!!! Thank you for a much needed relaxation weekend

    Me and my partner were welcomed with a little welcome basket which was a lovely touch. The lodge was very clean when we arrived and couldn’t fault it at all. The fairy lights above the hot tub just topped off every evening which made the lodge more stunning

The ancient village of Donisthorpe lies on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border and just a short drive from the picturesque Derbyshire Dales. This former mining village has a thriving village pub, one of the oldest buildings in the village, a Post Office and shop and is ideally located in the heart of the National Forest close to many chocolate box villages and interesting towns. Nearby Burton upon Trent is a town straddling the River Trent, made famous by its breweries, and home of many award-winning ales. Alabaster carving, cloth working and manning the cotton mills are all central to the town’s history. The small market town of Market Bosworth is just a short drive away, home to the Battle of Bosworth, with an excellent visitor centre at the battlefield site. It has many amenities, including small independent shops, pubs and a renowned fish and chip shop, all located around the market square. There are many historic sites and places of interest such as Tutbury Castle, the Old Marina, the Bass Brewery Centre and the Claymills Pumping Station. A good touring base with Twycross Zoo, Drayton Manor, Alton Towers, Belper, Matlock and Ashbourne within an easy reach, as well as Calke Abbey and the cathedral city of Lichfield.
