  • "Lovely cottage in a lovely village!"

! We were very well catered for and there were some great paths to take the dog out for walks. Two very close and friendly pubs & a very short drive to closest supermarkets. It was lovely to meet the owner also and my husband and I would 100% recommend!!! Thank you very much!!

Great place to stay, would be better if there was a washing machine installed instead we had to adventure out to a laundrette

  • "We had a lovely week at Pepper Lane."

House was clean and tidy. All beds were made up ready for arrival. Guest book was informative. There was wifi too which was very useful. There were 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 children, so it was a very full house!!

It’s very cosy and warm with lovely main double bedroom. Is a bonus having two good pubs and a deli cafe in walking distance and easy access to Nottingham. Excellent cottage for dogs as well. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again

  • "We had a wonderful week in 3 Pepper Lane."

The cottage is lovely and cosy, it is located in a beautiful idyllic village. There are numerous walks in the countryside, all on your doorstep. This an ideal cottage to take your dogs - our two had a wonderful time. The garden is lovely, fully enclosed, peaceful and ideal to sit in after a long day of walking. The owners were lovely and very helpful during our stay. We had a fantastic holiday and would definitely recommend this cottage as a good place to stay.

  • "The owners were helpful."

The property was central to my travel plans as I am a National Trust member and there were quite a few places to visit. There was a lovely pub that was only 2 mins walk away and the staff there were so helpful and welcoming. This was a home away from home.

  • "After viewing your pics seemed a lot bigger than it was even though you made us aware of the stairs itt was like climbing a ladder my husband is disabled and had great problems."

could not work the shower very well Hot all the time and the only way to use the loo was to back down beside the bath very tight on our arrival no sign of a table and chairs table stuck behind settee which had a tatty cover on it found the chairs under the stairs could not keep them up as no room in lounge. out side was. not made aware the neighbours have access to your garden 24/7 people can pass the window and look in , as we have had many of your cottages very dissapoited with this one made the best of a bad job my husband has been in hosp hence the late return to yourselves thinking of booking for ovtober Still after this one having to be careful Aileen.c

We are very sorry to hear the cottage did not meet your expectations. Please accept our apologies. We have certainly taken on your feedback and have now made sure there is an additional chopping board/worktop saver in the cottage and are providing side plates. We have replaced the majority of our bed linen recently due to wear and tear and are very sorry this sheet had been missed. We have now removed this and will address this with our cleaners. The mattress is only 6 months old but we will again look at this and rectify the issue. Unfortunately the council did not notify residents of set dates and times for the urgent work being carried out on the water mains so this was sadly outside of our control. Apologies your stay did not fully meet your needs on this occasion but we would be very happy to welcome you back for a future visit. Property Owner

Its really well equipped, parking space for 1 car directly outside the cottage and really is a home from home. Really close to a Pub that serves lovely meals. Great location if you are looking to visit Derby or Nottingham. Highly recommended!!

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location."

Stanton by Dale is a friendly village with two pubs, a cafe, lots of footpaths and a great play area for children. Easy to go further afield with routes to Derby, Ilkeston and Long Eaton. Wouldn't recommend for very tall people due to beam height!

Arriving into the kitchen, you will receive a warm welcome from the country-style setup, presented with wooden base and wall units and neutral coloured tiles.

The sitting room is elevated by original beams, and the fireplace displays an eye-catching design on the far wall.

Gather together in front of the TV and get cosy for the evening, or perhaps play one of the many games provided.

Step out into the garden, breathe the fresh air and let the dog out for a run around with the kids.

Bordered by plants and shrubs, this is the ideal spot for picnics and relaxing on the lawn.

This small histroric village dates back to medieval times and has the benefit of two watering holes to choose from and a lovely café/shop in the old school house just a 5 minute walk from the property.

This cottage is also a must for the walkers with several walks available straight from the front door.

There is a playground just up the lane from the house, this is where you start the Stanton-by-Dale walk.

The route takes you through fields and along farm lanes, before reaching Dale Road and the charming village of Dale Abbey where you can visit the abbey remains and the old hermitage hidden in the woods; a site to behold when the bluebells are in full bloom.

Nearby you have the cities of Nottingham and Derby, both hosting a wealth of culture and history awaiting your discovery.

Dine at Michelin star restaurants, indulge in the shops and even see live performances at one of many venues.

For further walking opportunities, the Peak District is easily reached by car.

About the location

STANTON BY DALE, DERBYSHIRE

Nottingham 7.5 miles; Derby 8.7 miles; Loughborough 15.3 miles

This small village and civil parish lies in the South East of Derbyshire. This quaint village retains its unspoilt charm. The Stanhope Arms and the Chequers Inn are the two watering holes situated within the village. During the second world war, there was a shortage of barbers in the local area, so the landlord used to cut customers’ hair, while they enjoyed a refreshing pint or two! A deep history surrounding the past industrialisation of the area lies at the Stanton Ironworks company, which in the 1960's joined with Staveley Ironworks, together housing 7,000 workers manufacturing manhole covers and concrete street lamps. Also in the village, there is a plaque commemorating aviation pioneer Hugh Oswald Short who, with his two brothers, built some of the first British aircraft in history. There are charming cottages, almshouses, a traditional parish church and village hall, cricket ground and even a medieval cross overlooking a village green. The city of Nottingham is nearby, with a vibrant culture centred on its rich heritage and sporting glory. See live performances, excellent sport, nightlife and art in a series of venues, with Michelin star restaurants and high street shopping to indulge in. Derby lies to the west of the village, on the banks of the River Derwent, hosting a wealth of arts, culture and history, as well as festivals and events on throughout the year. The Peak District offers walking and outdoor activities in abundance, along with delightful market towns and villages to be explored.
