A nice welcome pack with tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits. A vase of yellow Roses in the lounge. There was everything that my Mum and I needed. A good choice of crockery, pots, pans, glasses and utensils. The towels are lovely quality and a good size, 1 more bath sheet than bath towel. The beds were very comfortable and we both enjoyed good nights sleep while we were there. We only had one small question while we were there but within minutes John was there to help. Very happy to recommend Cherry Fields as a place to stay to explore Derbyshire.

The fixtures and lounge furniture are very dated and quite dull. The view from the lounge window is obscured by a large bush reducing the interior light and resulting in the property having a gloomy feel. Dogs are allowed at the property however, it is worth noting that the patio area is not fully enclosed. This was definitely not our favourite Sykes property.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Cherry Fields in Bolsover The owners are very nice and helpful."

The cottage is very nice and tidy, and well equipped. The warm and light conservatory is a nice place to sit when it's raining or when it's colder. We liked the furniture in the living room, also the lighting is well thought through. There is good parking space at the back of the house (hence off the street). The rooms are nice (each one has it's colour, with corresponding coloured sheets and towels). The beds are very comfortable, the mattress is good quality. From the cottage, we visited a number of properties of the National Trust and we did some day walks in the Peak District. There is a Morrisons supermarket nearby.

The cottage is as listed. It is very well equipped, including hand soap. dishwasher tablets etc. We took 2 dogs with us and the family were very dog friendly and suggested a couple of places to eat with the dogs which we tried and very much enjoyed. For anyone with mobility difficulties, it is all on one level. The wet room though would benefit from some grab handles and a shelf for shower gel etc. We found several wheelchair/mobility scooter accessible walks, at Thoresby Park Sherwood forest, Poolsbrook Nature reserve and Chatsworth house.

Beds very comfortable but I found the duvet too heavy and hot even in March. Owners friendly, helpful and accommodating. Big garden altho not enclosed for dogs. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped, comfortable and nicely decorated. The conservatory is light and airy with heating and furniture, a lovely spot to have breakfast! It also has access to a paved area with outdoor seating. The laundry room has everything you could need with a huge washer and separate tumble dryer. The kitchen is home-from-home, everything you need to enjoy your stay - we had a chef with us and he was impressed with the facilities! The dining room is comfortable and cosy with a walk-through into the lounge with laminate flooring throughout. The furniture is comfortable and clean and there is a TV for entertainment. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds comfortable with clean and lovely smelling linen. If you are like us a pack far too many clothes then you'll be pleased to know there is loads of cupboard space! The bathrooms are modern, spotlessly clean and the showers are lovely with heated towel rails - there are more than enough big fluffy towels for everyone. Extras - fresh eggs, home-made scones, jam, clotted cream, teabags, salt/pepper. There is also a box in the laundry room with "things you might have forgotten" in - shampoo, razor, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, sewing kit etc. The owners have done everything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and we only saw them a couple of times so they didn't intrude on our time there. There was an abundance of storage space and many items were provided for use like hair dryers, etc. There were very few negatives, for example the heating was quite loud in the night so it is advisable to keep it a little lower to avoid being disturbed.
