  • "Fantastic property, everything we needed and very clean."

Plenty of space for 9 of us. Both the inside and outside were impressive. We all enjoyed the hot tub and there was plenty of outside furniture for us to eat in the garden, the first time this year! Jill was very helpful and there were some welcome treats for us. Would 100% recommend staying here.

It was lovely to meet you all. Thankyou for your positive feedback and thankyou for taking care of the lost pony. Property Owner

The property was immaculate and so well equipped. The decor was tasteful and not over cluttered. We slept, ate, played and rested well.

  • "We had a lovey stay at The Hay Barn in Fishlake."

The 4 bedroom barn was perfect for the six of us who were looking for a spacious modern property for a weekend of relaxing away in the countryside. The Hay Barn is a very modern property and the owners have really thought about balancing modern facilities whilst still retaining the original charm of the barn. The kitchen is equipped with AEG appliances, the bathrooms have excellent showers with good water flow and the large smart TV is great for watching a movie at the end of the day. The garden is a great place for a BBQ, breakfast or any kind of dining and with the added canopy, you have some shelter from the elements. One of the property highlights is a huge, modern hot tub which was prepared for us by the owner and checked during our stay. A great addition and something which separates this property from one’s we have stayed at in the past. Overall, a great property for larger families or large groups wanting to spend time relaxing in a modern facility within the countryside. Thank you Gill and Jack for your hospitality!

  • "The Hay Barn is a beautiful property in a lovely rural setting & was the perfect place for 3 generations of our family to spend time together."

The interior is stunning, very spacious with great features such as exposed brickwork, beams in the bedrooms & deep window sills (ideal window seats to gaze out at the surrounding countryside views). The finish is superb and quality of furnishings, fittings, linens outstanding. Above all it feels homely and welcoming. Everything has been provided that guests could possibly need, along with some unexpected little treats on arrival - a lovely touch from our host. Photographs don’t really do it justice - we loved the look from the pictures but ‘in the flesh’ (so to speak) The Hay Barn is so much more impressive. The outside space is delightful & compliments the property. A large courtyard style area with a beautiful raised flower bed, lawn, a range of seating areas and even some ride on toys for the youngest guests. Though previously a hot tub could be could be hired in via the owner, the addition of a large permanent hot tub is a huge bonus and really added a touch of luxury to our stay. Fishlake is a rural village but there are plenty of places to visit it & things to do within a short distance. Lots of lovely walks, a luxury day spa on the doorstep, farm/wildlife parks - as well as places to go out to eat. Jill the owner was a perfect host - very friendly, helpful & responsive. She contacted me personally ahead of our stay and was very quick replying to any questions. We also really appreciated her suggestions for places to visit with our granddaughter. We had the pleasure of meeting Jill with her friend on arrival they were most welcoming - just what we needed after a drive in awful weather! Thank you again Jill for a wonderful birthday break with our family & being such a great host. We all loved our time at The Hay Barn & wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

  • "Property is excellent."

Surrounding area is a bit limiting.

I’m sorry that you found the surrounding area limiting. The village is quiet with lots of walks, a pub, a cafe and a pretty church. There are many local attractions and things to do. With the motorway and train station only 2 miles away I think we are well placed to access further afield. Towns like Doncaster, York, Hull, Sheffield etc are easily accessible and the Yorkshire wildlife park is a great day out. If you had asked I could have given you some ideas to suit your interests. " I'm pleased if I can say "yes" straight away, and if nothing changes my mind throughout the week, I think I'm on a winner. This is one of those. It's clear that this hasn't been let for long, the place is very clean and the finish of the building shows a fine eye for detail. Very little has been spared to make it really nice. There were six of us staying at Hay Barn, with a baby and toddler. We had everything we needed, there was enough china and cutlery to be able to leave the dishwasher until it was full. Plenty of useful cooking pots too. The courtyard garden was nice and a great area to use, the little one was able to run around safely. There are nice walks around the property and chances to see some cows and wildlife. The bat which managed to get into a bedroom one evening was a treat! Anyone without a fishing landing-net in the car might have taken a different view, but I'm sure that it's a once in a lifetime occurrence both for us and the building. The owners were nearby and were very helpful if we needed anything else, thanks for the advice on where to go and the baby thermometer.

The accommodation was much larger than we had expected. Family of 9 ranging from 10 months to 70s and there was sufficient room for everyone. Would recommend the Old Butchers for food and Truffle Lodge for a spa day/evening in Fishlake.
