  • "A lovely cosy cottage with a friendly welcome."

Enough kitchen equipment & throws to make our winter break warm & comfy. Hot tub at night in the freezing cold looking at the stars was very enjoyable. Dressing gowns an added bonus. Great location to explore the surrounding area.

We were welcomed on arrival by the hosts who gave us a great insight to the accommodation and local area too. Whilst we never had any major issues when indeed we needed their help they responded appropriately. The Garden Room has everything you need for a comfortable stay and we would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of staying in the Southwell area.

  • "We booked an extremely last min week away to the garden room."

One to note is The Garden Room doesn’t allow children (and after visiting I understand why, a big garden with apples on the ground and an open pond) but an exception was made, We was extremely appreciative of this due to the late booking. When we visited the hosts where on holiday in France, so we was greeted by Charlie. Charlie was very nice, extremely helpful and even offered to help carry our stuff. He showed us how to use the hot tub (we did however receive the same information via txt the day before). When we arrive my wife said “This would be nice enough to have a honeymoon” that’s enough said on visuals of the room. The bed was massive! And the pillows were like big clouds! The bath was what I was most excited about, I wasn’t disappointed but the bath was a little small for me. However the shower was great! The weather was extremely hot so we defiantly choose the right week, but to hot tub was too hot to use during sunlight hours, but what a way to unwind in the evening under the stars and a cold beer (plastic cups provided for the added security added bonus) Location was very good so many trails local if you’re a fan of Robin Hood Sherwood pines is a must! You’ll also have east mids outlet only 30 mins away for any shopperholics

With so much to do in the surrounding area but being able to come back to such a tranquil and peaceful location has made this the perfect week away. The effort you have put in to creating The Garden Room is very much appreciated. Thank you

  • "A unique accommodation in the large rear garden of the owner's beautiful house."

Initially an office, a further outbuilding has been added to provide a sumptuous bathroom featuring both a bath and a superb shower. A queen size bed with a wonderfully comfortable mattress gives the perfect night's sleep. A section of the room features a kitchen area, with an oven, microwave and coffee machine. A settee at the end of the bed offers a relaxing space to watch tv or gaze over the garden and the open land to the rear. For your sole use is a hot tub just a few steps from the door, however with a cold bracing breeze and winter temperatures we were not that brave to try it. Do not worry about being overlooked, you are offered every privacy with ecologically friendly fencing screening edging the Garden Room's private area. Caroline and Nick are the perfect hosts, offering a warm welcome, together with instructions on how to use certain features and stop for a chat when paths cross, but otherwise leave you alone to enjoy a relaxing stay. Just perfect!

The room was very nicely presented with such a cosy feel and had everything we needed! The super king size bed was extremely comfortable too. We loved exploring the local area via the Southwell trails (of which the leaflets provided by the hosts came in very handy!) and ending each day with a dip in the lovely hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped as we did most of our cooking and food prep in the property. The bathroom was extremely spacious for a small property with a large shower and plenty of room to get ready. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in that has not been my own. The hot tub was fantastic (we have never been in one with bluetooth before!) The hosts very friendly and respectful of privacy. The garden itself was an array of wildlife which we enjoyed watching and listening to in the mornings and evenings after a long day of walking. There are plenty of walks to do in the area of all levels and we look forward to coming back again some day.

It is the ideal place to just chill and relax for a week. The accommodation is so well presented and well thought through down to the smallest details to make for the most comfortable stay. The kitchen is really well equipped so we were able to do lots of our own cooking which was perfect! It's great to be within walking distance of a really lovely pub that does excellent food at a very reasonable price too. We loved going for walks in the surrounding areas and appreciating the nature around. Apart from walks there isn't loads to do in the area, so maybe not the best location for those wanting an adventurous holiday, but it's ideal for relaxing and recharging in this beautiful, tiny home!

About the location

SOUTHWELL

Newark 9 Miles, Mansfield 13 Miles, Nottingham 15 Miles

Southwell is arguably one of the prettiest towns in Nottinghamshire. Many of Southwell's historic buildings and landmarks suffered during this period, with the Archbishop's Palace and Southwell Minster bearing scars from the conflict as Oliver Cromwell's troops destroyed monuments and graves for lead and other valuable materials. The stunning Southwell Minster is a splendid cathedral with one of the finest Norman naves in Europe and only a stone’s throw from the narrow high street and beautiful pubs. The town played its own role in the English Civil War. Today you can wander the grounds and check out a full programme of living history events, tours and exhibitions. Every year, Southwell plays host to two great music festivals. Gate to Southwell Festival is one of the leading folk events in the country, and as well as impressive headliners each year, visitors can also enjoy street theatre, workshops and traditional performances such as ceilidhs and morris dancing, along with sampling a great selection of fine craft ales and delicious food. Head to the The Refrectory inside Southwell Minster grounds, with magnificent views that can be enjoyed on their patio area while you enjoy their scrumptious tea and cakes! Alternatively, have a wander through Reg Taylor's Garden Centre, which features a sculpture garden, swan sanctuary, gift shop and a lovely tea rooms where you can tuck into a freshly prepared lunch or Sunday Roast.
