  • "I've stayed at this property a few times now and staying here is almost like coming home."

It's clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything you might need. Owners are lovely and welcoming. They are on hand if you have any issues but completely unobtrusive. This is a lovely property that I would highly recommend.

Spoiled a little by having a wasps nest near by resulting in an odd one or two of them gaining access. Hence a less than perfect on cleanliness, however this could happen anywhere to anybody. We do recommend this venue to anyone who loves the views which this property affords. It is well site for travel to Manchester, South Cheshire and North Staffordshire, top marks.

  • "I have stayed at the Chequer Stable a number of times now, and have always enjoyed my stay."

Anthea & Peter are perfect hosts - available if there is an issue, but otherwise unobtrusive. I loved the myriad of geese, ducks and chooks that would greet you every morning when you stepped outside. Yes the roosters do start crowing quite early, but there are earplugs for those that would find this a concern. I didn't. Getting out onto the road can be a bit tricky - I found that turning off the radio and heater, opening the window and listening for traffic worked for me. My only gripe (a very small one) would be to have a light over the vanity in the bathroom as this area is a tad dark. My stay was lovely and restful, and I look forward to returning in 2023. Perhaps not in the dead of winter next time!

Mattress on bed is a bit tired though. Wood burner was great, really efficient bit of kit. We did have a couple of hair raising moments getting into and out of the gate. Entrance not easy to spot on a fast 50mph road. Plenty of things to do without travelling too far whether its wet or dry. Internet and 4g are poor but we found using a phone as a WiFi hot spot and propped up on the window sill gave us decent enough speed to watch Netflix etc (7-8 Mbps on O2).

Thank you for your feedback. We would just like to inform guests that the combi microwave oven includes both a grill and a conventional oven. I wish you had asked us while you were here so that we could have helped you. Property Owner

Very well equipped and ideal for our short stay in the area. Great care had been taken over every detail and the accommodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. The accommodation is on a small holding and we were wakened early each morning by the sound of the cockerels and ducks! It was on a small holding so to be expected! The one down side was that you could hear the road noise as it is on a busy A50 road. (But probably not as busy as usual due to pandemic restrictions). For this reason I would not be keen to stay here for more than a few days as would find it hard to relax in the small garden area with constant road noise. (On the plus side it was easy to find from the M6). We tried a couple restaurants in Sandbach and would highly recommend the Phanthong Thai on Crewe Road- just near centre roundabout. Would not however recommend the Leg of Man pub near the accommodation- food very average, served margarine with the bread and when I asked they said they don't serve butter! Enjoyed some walks and especially around the Brereton Heath, Congleton CW12 4SU

A warm welcome from the owners, I think that's a good place to start, Chequer Stable is simply breathtaking, recently converted and I was lucky enough to be the first person to stay there, Every conceivable need was not only met but far exceeded, from the luxury furnishings to super fluffy towels and quality bedding. I used the Stable as a base while looking for a new property in Cheshire and while working, the super fast broadband and wifi puts most hotel chains to shame, other highlights of my stay were to name but many my neighbours, if you like geese and chickens oh and lamas you will be in heaven, the underfloor heating meant that it was always warm and toasty and the log burner was quite simply hypnotic!. This place is a true gem and my only fear in writing this glowing review is that it will now be fully booked week after week and that next time I want to escape there it won't be available!, but then again the owners deserve such success, A very big thank you and I hope to see you again soon.

A superb, detached cottage, located on the owner's 2 acre smallholding, ideally located close to the popular market town of Sandbach.

Dating back to 1881, this delightful cottage has been sympathetically converted from an attractive Victorian stable building, with wooden windows and doors and homely modern styling, making it ideal as a romantic retreat.

This charming cottage, next to the owner's home, offers cosy, open plan accommodation with a galleried bedroom looking onto the sitting room and a ground floor modern and stylish bathroom.

The first floor bedroom feels open and airy with skylights, a round window and a stylish glass balustrade.

Entering into the open plan living area you will find a comfortable double sofa bed and tub chair set in front of the warming woodburning stove, with a flue stretching up past the mezzanine to the roof.

The kitchenette is practical and modern with soft close doors, offering the ideal area to prepare simple home-cooked meals, to be enjoyed at the dining table.

A full length glazed door leads off the sitting room onto a gravel patio seating area, with far-reaching views and overlooking the smallholding with llamas, ducks, chickens, geese and cockerels all roaming happily together.

Sandbach is a large historic market town dating back to Saxon times, with its famous Saxon Crosses still visible in the picturesque cobbled square where it still holds regular weekly markets, and a monthly farmers' market.

Sandbach offers an array of independent specialist and high street chain stores, interspersed with gastropubs, specialist food stores and real ale pubs.

Local parks include Congleton Park and Sandbach Park with bowling greens and outdoor gym, or nearby Brereton Heath Nature Reserve with its wildlife and woodland walks.

The cottage is an ideal base to access the towns of Congleton, Alsager, Middlewich and Holmes Chapel, where you can also take the train into Manchester.

Join the Dane Valley Way, South Cheshire Way or Cheshire Ring Canal Way for miles of beautiful cycle trails.

The nearby National Trust properties of Little Moreton Hall and Tatton Hall are well worth a visit as are The Potteries at Stoke-on-Trent.
