  • "I would have no problem recommending this Cottage, it was clean, tidy and modern."

Excellent facilities where available to use, Cooker, microwave, clean and easy to use, bit difficult for a short person to reach the top shelf of the fridge but otherwise excellent. Bedrooms where arranged how we requested and everything was clean with plenty of storage for clothes. Towels where available and lovely and fluffy, Shower was brilliant, hot water almost instant and liked the smaller shower as well as the waterfall one. You do need to be careful driving up the lane, it is a single track so oncoming vehicles and also pedestrians can suddenly appear and there are limited places for pull in's. Host was available for any queries and very approachable both before arrival and during our stay.

  • "Maaaaaaaaaaaaarvellous."

Second time around, this time with bonus, springy, cuddly Lambs. The cottage is super-comfortable and the owners and their family are warm-hearted and helpful. Great views, walks from the house, plus lots to explore via train or car. You can access the Etherow-Goyt way from the cottage via the Drovers Track and across to Beacom Farm to start of the Langendale Trail (PDF on line). The canals are great for easy kayaking/SUP with storage space in the Shed. A word of warning, not related to the Barn itself in any way - the BP garage in Romily charges £33.99 for a litre of oil - a mark up is OK -but at 3 times normal price I was anticipating inclusion of the Koh-I-Nor. Many thanks for a great stay again. Say hi to the woolly and feathered ones for me.

  • "Fabulous place, modern and really clean loved the fact each bathroom had its own ensuite, decor lovely, bed really comfortable slept really well, most places we looked at didn't have seating for 4 people, kitchen was lovely and well equipped and you even had a Christmas tree for us which was a lovely thought."

You can see you have furnished with only the best quality fittings, furniture and furnishing and we would love to come again in the summer. We did try to respect the fact it was such a lovely barn so tried to leave it as close to how we found it. Only thing missing was a long mirror on the wall by one of the plug sockets for drying hair couldn't see any plug near the bathroom mirror.

  • "The Barn is stunning and great care had been taken to ensure we would have a comfortable stay."

It sounds such a simple thing but the fact that lights had been left on for our arrival in the dark made all the difference. The Barn was also lovely and cosy for our arrival, again greatly appreciated after having driven from Scotland and the temperature being low. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and we will definitely be booking again for the summer so that we can explore further afield. We had the unfortunate luck to be involved in an accident in the snow on the way back to The Barn the evening before our departure and would have been lost without Vicky and her husband. We were abandoned by our insurance company in the dark and snow with freezing temperatures and Vicky's husband drove down to pick us up and take us up to The Barn. He also drove us to our daughter's in Stockport the following morning. They could not have done more to help us and we are extremely grateful for all their help.

  • "We stayed for several days at this lovely little unit within the peaceful setting of a farmyard."

There were chickens, sheep and cows which our son loved! The hosts were very accommodating and approachable. They left a welcome note and water bowl for our dog and dropped some salt in for the farm eggs we had picked up from down the lane. The property had recently been refurbished to a high standard with tasteful decor and top-rated appliances. The reason why I have scored the property a 7 was that it was not compliant with fire regulations for the paying guest. However, I do not want to detract from the lovely property and the stay we had at The Barn. I provided the hosts with some goodwill advice and was confident that they would address what was required.

  • "Had a fabulous break in 'The Barn ' a family of 3 adults, 1 16 year old and our dog."

The Barn overlooks fields and has cows and sheep less than 10 feet from the front door. The Barn has everything you could need for a very comfortable holiday. All appliances and resources are of a very high standard. Lots of places to walk and visit only a short drive away. We enjoyed Etherow Country Park, walking along Marple Bridge canal, Castleton, Lyme Park to name a few. We will be back as there's alot more to see and do in the Peak District.

  • "Very welcoming and friendly owners - we really enjoyed meeting you all (including the animals)."

The Barn is in a beautiful location and the building has been renovated to preserve interesting features eg the little windows but is still light, clean, airy and warm with great views - you don't even need to step outside. We weren't that lucky with the weather or with the fuel situation - but still had a grand time as there are lots of walks from the Barn itself or from nearby villages and it is a lovely place to just stay-in too. Train stations are a short drive away. Fantastic storage for toys such as kayaks/bikes! The route up is steepish and narrow but we had no issue in our non SUV - it could be trickier in winter perhaps. Thank you so much.

  • "We absolutely loved our stay here."

The walks around the barn were fantastic. Two of our walks were right fro our door step. The kids and the dog lover there stay too. Loved exploring the area, and seeing the sheep, cows and horses every day. The owners made us feel very welcome. The sourdough bread and the wine was a lovely touch when arriving. We would highly recommend staying here. The local pubs are great, the food was nice and they all welcomed dogs.

  • "The Barn is a lovely place to stay."

It's set in a beautiful part of the country where we had a lovely relaxing break. Waking up to cows, sheep and horses in the fields opposite was wonderful. This is a newly renovated Barn which was immaculate inside and out and has everything you need. We really liked the information pack which was full of clear instructions for all the gadgets as well as an insight into the Barn' s history. We followed two of the detailed walking routes to local country parks and enjoyed every minute of it. We would highly recommend a stay in The Barn, you won't be disappointed.
