"I have rent cottages for over 20 years and this one was the most disappointing it was not clean , we did do some cleaning ourselves there was grease on the oven trays the high chair was dirty we did not use it ,the table was sticky we cleaned etc etc , the stairs are really steep to go upstairs to the bedrooms the bathroom room was nice big but again the shower caddy was rusty it just gives a bad impression they cost a few pounds to replace , the sofas have seen better days they sink in the middle also as reported in one of the reviews there was lots of open packets of spices ,sugar etc from previous tenants this is not best idea in the present climate , the cottage needs some TLC and a new cleaner ."
A outside at the back would be helpful

"We had a lovely stay in the cottage which is ideally located to explore the area and it is cosy and comfortable."
However it is not up to the standard of a Sykes 4 star property and is in need of some TLC. When we arrived, we had to purchase and replace the stairway light bulb as there are no spares, temporarily repair curtain hangers and clean the kitchen surfaces, chopping and food preparation boards and oven trays. The cupboards contain aged food products from previous occupants which shouldn’t have been left in the current health ‘climate’. The kitchen cupboard door next to the oven is melted and badly burned giving rise to a safety concern when you first arrive. Property information needs updating, in particular there is no information on what days to leave out recycling bins or food waste bins. The roof above the attic bedroom window needs attention as the ceiling plaster is soaked probably due to a missing or displaced roof tile. TV aerial reception is poor, only BBC 1 and BBC 2 are viewable. At present this is not a 4 star property, but it wouldn’t take much to make it one.
Thank you for your feedback.
It is a shame that you did not make contact during your stay as we would have assisted you if we had been made aware of any issues.
I have since spoken to the cleaner about the cleanliness comments and this will be addressed by them. Unfortunately, a previous guest had melted the cupboard door next to the oven and a new door is on order and will be fitted as soon as possible.
The heating has been turned up and we are going to repaint any damp areas and the TV- channels have been re-tuned
Thank you again for your comments.

"The accommodation suited our needs however there were just a couple of small points that could receive attention: 1."
The driveway leading to the rear of the property could be trimmed back as the brambles came into contact with our car. 2. The bathroom wash basin plug didn’t function properly. 3. The information folder was out of date and the CO2 Test Certificate was out of date. 4. Couldn’t see any PAT test certification on appliances.
5. Couldn’t see the point of an empty bookcase in the dining room - it just takes up limited space.
These are just minor observations and would not influence me on not staying again.

"Front door broken and could not be used."
Freezer totally frozen and could not be used to store food. Carpets filthy and stained. Mattress appears to have gone in double bedroom downstairs. Cleaning was ‘adequate’ on arrival. Missing curtain hooks and curtains hanging off, letting in light. Barely enough hot water for one shower.

"Glass left on the floor outside from previous party."
Was a hazard to my kids. Basic necessities one expects at a holiday home like washing up liquid, sponge, kitchen roll and toilet roll were missing or inadequate.
General cleanliness was below par. On the plus side, the equestrian centre who administer the property were very responsive to any issues that I had and did their best to resolve.

"Lovely cottage, refurbished to a high standard and very well equipped."
When you go away you expect the place to stay to be at least as nice as the place you live in. This felt very homely.

"The accomodation was spot for us as we had 2 young girls (18-21 months) and a 7 year old and the garden was perfect."
There was plenty room for them run around and for us to sit and socialize. House was just what we were looking for and peaceful enough. We will definitely stay this cottage again.

"Lovely cottage, but when packing do remember to pack and bring your own Logs ."
I've stayed in many cottages with a log fire, but this is the first one where logs are not supplied.
Unnecessary in my opinion. Nice cottage though.

"The cottage was really spacious and clean, the garden was large and our granddaughter enjoyed playing in the garden."
Views and walks were incredible just like being at home.
We were in Chester for a family wedding which was great and would visit again however, the adults were unable to sleep due to the extreme noise of the traffic. It was fast and ongoing all night no matter which room you were sleeping in. This really spoilt our holiday as we were all so tired..
On the day of our departure the cleaners turned up at 9am on the doorstep it all felt really rushed we were packed and out by 9.25am so it was not like we were late and putting them behind.
Other than no sleep we enjoyed our stay.
