  • "Having recently returned home from this lovely property , I can only say I cannot wait to return ."

The location is ideal only a few minutes out of Shrewsbury by car , shops within walking distance , The Abbey pub and restaurant is ideal if you want something to eat that is close to the cottage , although we do like The Mill in Ironnbridge the food their is excellent. The cottage is so comfortable with all that is needed to have a wonderful stay , the bed my partner and myself slept in on the ground floor was exceptionally comfortable which for me was important as I have an arthritic spine . Everything you would need in the kitchen , very well stocked it’s home from home . The deck at the back of the cottage is a fantastic place to see the local squirrels playing around , I managed to get some wonderful videos of them eating from the feeder that Grace the owner of the cottage who lives next door, put a feeder out to attract the squirrels they really were a delight to watch , she is a very nice Lady and very helpful , helped us when the tv played up , of course we were spoiled for choice having sky , Netflix , wonderful to come back after a day out to watch our favourite movies , it was a wonderful week and I can’t wait to go back , I would fully recommend this property , the downstairs toilet and shower is quirky but if you can cope with that you will have a great holiday . Ideally situated for a short walk into Shrewsbury , the accommodation had plenty of comfortable seating to relax in after a day exploring. We recommend the Dun Cow for Sunday lunch , and the Old Bell had some amazing food at fantastic prices. We would certainly recommend this accommodation, the only down side was the downstairs bathroom, while being a little unusual I'm not sure how hygienic the wooden seat is , the shower area was losing its shelving and the sink tap was very difficult to stop running, but this did not stop us from thinking it was a wonderful place to recommend

  • "I booked Riverdale cottage as a surprise for my mums 80th Birthday for her and 5 friends (similar age)."

The description of the property is spot on. It really is "home from home" and is very well equipped. Unfortunately the weather wasn't kind to them and they spent much more time in the cottage than they thought, but this really wasn't an issue. Three 3 big bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms so nobody had to share. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom met my mums mobility needs. Very well equipped kitchen, with everything you might need to prepare and cook meals. A lovely big lounge with 3 big sofas, plenty of board games. The terrace patio area is fabulous asset allowing views of the river, with plenty of outdoor seating. Room to park 3 cars off the road. I was concerned about the spiral staircase but guests just need to be careful - the group had no issues. The owner Grace (who lives in adjoining property) was very approachable and quick to deal with some minor issues that occurred during their stay. The cottage is very well located for Shrewsbury town centre and other places of interest. They had a delicious take-away from the Monkmoor fish shop and visited the Abbey pub. Would highly recommend Riverdale cottage and would book a return visit in the future.

  • "The property is in a great location on the River Severn and within a very short walking distance to the river path to Shrewsbury."

The path is excellent and you can walk right round to Quarry Park. We visited Hodnet Hall Gardens which is well worth a visit. We had Sky TV which was a bonus but it did stop working twice during our stay. The property states ‘3 adult bikes available to use’ - however the 3 bikes provided are in need of some maintenance. On one bike the gears are stuck in a high gear which makes it extremely hard to ride especially on an incline. The electric bike has no battery so is rideable but in one gear only and the third bike is unsafe as the tyres are quite bald. We are enthusiastic cyclists and were disappointed with the state of the bikes provided.

It was 'home from home'. There was everything in the property that you might need and more. Grace our 'host' was very approachable and always on hand to answer any queries you might have. The property was very central to places to visit in the area with no more than an hours drive away and convenient for a walk into Shrewsbury town centre. The local fish and chip shop 'Monkmoor Fish Bar' and local chinese 'Tim Tim' are well worth having a take away from. All in all I would recommend this property and hope to one day return.

  • "The property owner knows I was not happy with our stay at Riverdale as there was noisy building work taking place right next door."

When we arrived and Grace showed us the beautiful garden there was very noisy drilling occurring and I said to her I hope it’s not going to be like this during our stay and her reply was there’s building work going on everywhere!! They promise to finish at 5pm. On the Tuesday evening I had to message her at 6pm as there was the most horrendous drilling happeneing when we returned from our day out. She went round and it did eventually stop. We couldn’t have sat outside and had a peaceful read it was so noisy. If I had known about the building works right next door I wouldn’t have rented the cottage I truly wouldn’t have. I was so upset as my children are teachers and they came away with us for a nice peaceful rest as it’s the middle of gcse time. Grace knew I was unhappy and thoughtfully put a card through the door saying sorry with £80 cash in it to buy us some dinner. I thanked her for the thought but paying £1500 for the cottage stay for one week and spending that sort of money made me feel we were going to the best property not one with the most awful noise. I wish I had been told and we wouldn’t have gone to be honest.

  • "Riverdale is a lovely property by the river."

The kitchen diner and living room are a good size and very comfortable. The spiral staircase is an interesting feature but mind your head when walking from kitchen to living room. The upstairs bedrooms are a good size but note the bathroom has a hand held shower, not shower over bath, which means it is difficult to shower without getting the floor wet. The downstairs bedroom is advertised as being suitable for those with limited mobility who might struggle with the stairs and is one reason we chose this property. However the rugs are not non-slip and the bed (which I don't think is super king size) moves on the hard floor. Also the feature en-suite has no hand rails in shower area, a step into shower very close the sink, and a hard to reach toilet flush. The property is in a great location and if we didn't need a suitable downstairs bedroom/bathroom we would visit again.

Thank you for your feedback, I’ve taken on board and got some nonslip to go underneath the carpet , the beds in that room did have casters, but as they get separated quite often, they seem to have not been put back on so I will attend to that. I will speak to Sykes as the upstairs bed measurements and the downstairs seem to have got mixed up. and I will lengthen the cord to toilet flush. as for the other things, I don’t feel I can change, but thank you for your helpful comments. It was well equipped and very comfortable. There were nice touches like milk and chocolates but also other essentials which haven’t always been available at other properties we have stayed at - tea bags, cooking oil, salt, pepper, foil, washing up liquid and toilet rolls, to name a few. As we were 6 adults, ( 3 couples) it was ideal to have 3 double rooms, 2 en suite and a further bathroom. The lounge was particularly comfortable with lots of comfortable seating and coffee tables and a large array of games. We particularly liked the decking area which we were lucky enough to be able to sit out on several times as the the weather was good all week. Again, comfortable chairs and outdoor table with beautiful trees and the river below to look out on. Very tranquil. Good location with a 20 minute walk along the river to the centre of Shrewsbury. Also, a good location to go further a field. Can recommend Attingham Park (NT) and Carding Mill (NT) which has some beautiful sign posted walks. We would definitely recommend this property and will return when we get the chance. Town was a little further away than we anticipated but the local taxi firm had an App that made it easy to book cabs - you could book a cab for 6 for about £6 each way. Shrewsbury itself is nice and we did an escape room from Shrewsbury prison ! If you go , please visit the Quarry in town and the Hawkstone Follies is worth a visit too. Walking distance to Shrewsbury, about 20 minutes and a very nice local pub which did food just a few minutes stroll away. The owner (Grace) was an absolute delight, and did everything she could to make us, and our daughter plus grandchildren, to feel at home and totally relaxed. So impressed were we, we have already booked for two weeks in the summer. Thank you Grace, looking forward to seeing you then!

Our break was completely delightful as we had everything we needed. We had intended to dine out but the surroundings and property was so perfect, we were happy to stay in. The owner was very welcoming and the welcome pack was a really lovely touch. All in all, a fantastic short break for the five of us.

With every gadget you could imagine including electronic salt and pepper grinders! Beautifully warm and lots of areas for study or quiet time, this cottage was perfect for our 2 families. The decking at the rear of the house is far more extensive than shown in the photograph and was a wonderful place to relax, eat, party and commune with the varied wildlife. We loved this property and will be back.

Shrewsbury is a lovely town and perfect for a w/e away - not too big and not too small. The Abbey pub which was less than 10 minutes walk did fabulous food - we had Sunday lunch there. The owner at Riverdale was very friendly and welcoming and although we didn't need her after our initial meet, got the idea that nothing was too much trouble.

  • "Wow, wow and wow again!"

This is a beautiful house in a spectacular location. Supremely comfortable and spacious, very well equipped and a fabulous and very much appreciated welcome pack on arrival. Fresh lilies in the living room were a lovely touch too. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for her, she even provided food for our daughter to feed the ducks which was great fun. Our only small issue was the cleanliness, toilets hasn't been cleaned and upstairs was very dusty but this did not detract from just how beautiful this holiday home is. We were blessed with day after day of blue skies and sunshine and to sit on the decking overlooking the river was just sublime. Highly recommended.

Nothing was too much trouble for the owner. Her daughter even made sure that she was there to take in our grocery order when our arrival was delayed due to traffic. One of the best things about the house is it's situation next to the River Severn. Sitting on the back deck watching the swans and squirrels and listening to the birds in the trees was truely magical. So relaxing!

Having the 3 bathrooms made it so convenient for us as it wasn’t only family who stayed with us. The position of the home is so tranquil right by the River Severn, no noise from anywhere. Don’t be put off by the front of the house, it hides the wonderful gem of the back. Most meals we took on the decking, even breakfast. The weather was kind to us all week, we all really loved our stay.

The decor and facilities are those of a family home, not a rental property. The owners have certainly given every consideration for their guests and their needs with no expense spared. We were taken aback at the standard and style of the property, and its gardens and decking area. A true gem of place! We are booking again next year after such a wonderful vacation. Many thanks.
