It is the first time all of my family having gone away together and I would highly recommend this property. Extremely spacious (there were 14 of us and we didn’t feel on top of each other), fabulous hot tub! We saw cows, donkeys, chickens, hares, house martins - a real country stay. It is well equipped with outdoor bbq facilities, table tennis and plenty of outdoor seating for seeing in the sunset. A truly wonderful find that my whole family thoroughly enjoyed! It was spotlessly clean & all the bedding, towels, kitchen equipment, crockery & cutlery were as new. The view from the lovely garden was absolutely stunning. We spent a lot of time sitting & eating in the garden, the outdoor furniture was very comfortable. The house is very child friendly & our 6 grandchildren spent a lot of time in the hot tub, running around on the lawn & playing outdoor games such as table tennis & croquet that were provided. All the 10 adults joined in as well!! The owners were really friendly & welcoming. One of the many highlights for the children was watching the 3 'on site' donkeys being fed & being able to stroke them! We used a caterer, recommended by the owners, on Saturday night to celebrate one of our daughter's 40th birthday, ksimcockcatering.co.uk, she was excellent & the food she produced was delicious. I initially chose Lee House because of the location, lovely photos on the website & the spacious nature of the property. However, seeing & 'experiencing' the house in person was even better! We found the hot tube in the garden great as sat in it watching over the hills watching the sunset was a nice feeling. We found the location ok as all my family came from all parts off Britain i.e. West Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Hertfordshire, Surry, Colchester so Lee House Cottage was in the middle. The owners Rosie and John were so helpful kind and would help with anything that wasn't right or needed fixing. Nothing more you could need for a weekend away. The welcome hamper was a lovely addition when arriving after a long journey. The separated cottage was ideal for the sleeping babies (which the travel cots have great mattresses in). Only thing I would say for us was the hot tub was situated in the wrong place as when people using it at night the noise can be heard in the annex cottage so babies woke up. The road to the cottage isn’t too friendly to the car so be prepared for a bumpy ride. However this will not stop us booking to cottage again (as babies will be older). The garden was great but we didn't get to sit out much as it was so cold The hot tub was a huge hit with everyone! Reviewed by HazelApr 2018 "The listing of the property was not accurate to the room configuration." I asked for a floor plan on a number of occasions and was told one was not available, I now think this was because had we seen a floor plan we would have cancelled the booking. The master in the main house is listed as having a ensuite with a water fall shower, the bathroom with a waterfall shower is accessed from the main kitchen and is also the only toilet on the ground floor so with multiple occupants is in constant use. So to access the bathroom the downstairs bedroom and the unexpected mezzanine bedroom have to walk through main rooms and past the front door, not at all the level of comfort you would expect for a luxury cottage. Their are two mezzanine bedrooms, one in the cottage and one in the main house so these rooms offer no privacy. We travelled to celebrate a big birthday and paid what we thought would get us a level of luxury, instead the bathrooms and mezzanines left us feeling like we were back in university halls, waiting with your wash bag in a kitchen for a bathroom to become free and unable to have a private time with your partner. I was sadden by this as we had previously been pleased with cottages we have booked through Sykes Reviewed by SarahMar 2018 "Lee House Cottage was immaculately presented and the views were spectacular." The hot tub is a great asset to sit and enjoy the views and the stars at night with no light pollution. On arrival a welcome drink and walnut bread, chutney and local cheeses was a big hit with our extended family group gathering for a late Christmas celebration.
