  • "A quaint old cottage, full of character, which has been thoughtfully updated to provide lovely cosy accommodation."

In a super quiet but very handy village location, close to Shrewsbury and Attingham Park (NT) but also not far (c. 35 mins drive) from Powis Castle and the Shropshire Hills area for Cardingmill and Stiperstones. Stokesay Castle and Ironbridge are also good places to visit. The cottage is warm and cosy with excellent kitchen facilities. We appreciated the beautiful vase of roses in the window, the wine and goodies on our arrival and the Christmas decorations. The owner was exceptionally attentive and kind. We loved our stay. I can't recommend the cottage highly enough.

The ceilings are low but this is stated in the description. As with another reviewer I would have found it useful to have a washing machine as we were there two weeks, although I can see there is limited places to put one. Ro was great at keeping in touch and messaged to check we were OK.

  • "We had a wonderful week at Borrowers Cottage."

Ro was a very thoughtful host, we especially loved the treats we found on arrival at the cottage. We had brilliant sunny weather which allowed us to enjoy lots of walking in the local area. The views from both Lyth Hill and Carding Mill Valley are amazing and the snowdrops along the woodland walk at Attingham Park were lovely. We visited Ludlow on Saturday and had fun strolling round the local market. The cottage is in a brilliant location with so many lovely places to visit not far away. We enjoyed lighting the wood burner each evening and ate in most nights (the kitchen is well equipped to prepare your own meals) but can throughly recommend the food at Dorrington Horseshoes, the pub in the next village. My husband had the roast of the day and I had pie of the day, both very tasty and served with lots of fresh veg. Thank you Ro for sharing your lovely cottage. It was a joy to return to each evening.

We would 100% stay again. It would of been nice to have a washing machine as we were there for 2 weeks and had to go to laundry matts, the shower is coming off the wall and the stair case is quite rickity which may be dangerous for others in the future. Other than this we couldn’t of enjoyed our stay more, thank you :)

It was perfect for myself and husband and our toddler. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring our surroundings and cosying up in the cottage of an evening cooking a nice meal. All of the cooking facilities were great- the kitchen has everything you need. Only complaint was the shower pressure but it really wasn’t a big deal just for a short stay. I would highly recommend Borrowers cottage for anyone wanting to stay in Shropshire.

We had been in touch prior to our visit. Everything was perfect for us but as the owner stressed in the advertisement, if you had problems going up and down stairs it would be tricky and the beams are low. These things are stated. We had a wonderful stay regardless of the weather, which we were able to dodge.

The village squire of old decreed that there would not be a pub in the village, but there is a social club, and the stewards and regulars are very welcoming and helpful. Lots of great food to be had in the restaurants and pubs in the area. Easy drive from Condover to Shrewsbury and other beautiful locations in Shropshire.

The welcome cakes quickly disappeared and were delicious. The cottage was well equipped and very quaint, but not far from amenities such as a large Sainsburys just up the road and right next door to the Shrewsbury Park and Ride. Even the low doors didn't prove too much of a challenge to us being vertically challenged, and we would love to return. Little touches like fresh flowers on the windowsill and toiletries in the bathroom were nice too. The yard was lovely on a sunny afternoon to paint in, relaxing, listening to the children chattering in the adjoining garden. Perfect little cottage in the heart of the countryside.

Our 12 year old enjoyed the single bedroom being private and with access to wifi was a bonus! The cottage had everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing and comfortable stay including a well equipped kitchen. The area is quiet and peaceful with a small post office selling some bits and bobs and an excellent butcher shop within walking distance to the cottage. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet location but within easy travelling distance to lots of local attractions.

  • "A wonderfully warm welcome by the lovely host Ro."

We had a lovely welcome pack of milk, wine and little cakes. We were so impressed with this cottage. Everything about it is of hotel standard and top quality - Ro has very good taste! Absolutely spotlessly clean. So many thoughtful touches and extremely well equipped. Everything you could need in the kitchen if you decide to cook. Also for our convenience the kitchen cupboards contained tea, coffee, and all sorts of condiments. There is a cute little courtyard garden. Parking is easy, you have your own parking space. There is a TV and DVD player with a selection of DVD's there is also a good selection of books and also a CD player and CD's. There is Wi-Fi which worked well. The dining room is lovely, when we ate it felt like our own restaurant. It was very peaceful and quiet here, we slept well. The beds were very comfy with luxurious quality bed linens and quilts. This is a traditional cottage with low doorways and beams, surprisingly my 6'3" husband coped well! The only tricky bit was the shower beam, as the shortest in my family I was the only one that didn't have to duck under it to take a shower! The stairs are steep, particularly the ones to the single bedroom, but this bedroom with it's own staircase was perfect for our teenager who liked to have her own space. But I wouldn't recommend the single bedroom for small children as the stairs are steeper with slippery polished wood treads. A washing machine would have been more useful than a dishwasher which we didn't use. The village has a post office where we bought eggs and also Bert the Butchers (1 minute walk) where we regularly bought delicious bacon for our breakfasts. It was such a treat to stay here and were sad to leave!

Upon arrival, my expectations were exceeded. No picture can portray just how unique, quaint, quiet and refined your holiday will be, nor define the historic atmosphere of the immediate area. The church can be seen from the windows to the rear and a thoughtful and unitrusive chime of the hour bells help coordinate the day! Being introduced and welcomed by Ro, the owner was great. Such a very kind and welcoming introduction and only lives 5 minutes away so, is on hand if needed and yet respectful of privacy. I am 5ft 8" and had no issues with head space so, don't be put off by the required health & Safety advice - it's an old cottage with two seperate staircases which gives added privacy to the second single bedroom. Located down a very quiet single cobbled lane, it is secluded yet has great parking for two cars. I have stayed in many cottages and this was spotlessly clean. I couldn't praise it more!

We received a very warm welcome from the owner, along with a bottle of wine and tasty cakes. She even sent us a text the next morning to check if everything was alright once we had settled in. We thought this was exceptional and a really nice touch. The cottage was much more spacious than we had expected, with a good sized breakfast kitchen, lounge and separate dining room. Even a separate dressing room next to the master bedroom. We are both 5'6" and the cottage just fitted us! We could comfortably walk through all the doors and under the beams, without ducking. We can imagine this being a bit tiresome for taller visitors though. The shower over the bath, in particular has a very low beam, but with care, is still perfectly usable. The location suited us very well, being a small village, but within easy reach of main roads. Beautiful walks in the Shropshire hills, historic sites and gardens, and the industrial archaeology of Iron Bridge Gorge, all within half an hour's drive. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

The cottage is along a very quiet lane of about 5 houses and we very much appreciated the peace and quiet.. It was very comfortable and very clean and lovely to come back to in the evening and chill out in front of the fire It is very well equipped particularly in the kitchen and we catered for ourselves every evening on return. We found the Shropshire locals to be extremely helpful and friendly and Condover itself is very pretty. I particularly enjoyed the snowdrops in the churchyard - never seem so many. There is a big supermarket 10 mins away in Shrewsbury as well as a local shop in the village.
