  • "The Stables was a wonderful holiday stay."

The location is excellent, up a quiet country lane but still within easy reach of a main road. It has large grounds which are well fenced off and our dogs enjoyed running about in. A great deal of thought and care has been put into the house which is very comfortable and relaxing, sitting outside in the evening listening to the birds singing each night was one of the simple pleasures of our holiday. It is within an hour and a half drive to North Wales, Manchester and Gloucestershire. Ironbridge, which is a lovely place to visit for an afternoon, is only a twenty minute journey away. We highly recommend Sykes cottages, and in particular the Stables, and will not hesitate to return sooner rather than later. Thank you for a great holiday!

  • "A lovely holiday cottage in a very peaceful rural location."

The Stables was very comfortable, clean and homely with everything you could possibly need. The basket of wine, crisps, cookies, jam and marmalade was a nice touch together with the fresh flowers on the kitchen table. The enclosed part of the garden was great for our dog. We particularly enjoyed the use of the bigger field to the side where our dog could really run after the ball and have lots of fun. The owner was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We definitely hope to go back again the future.

We had a lovely peaceful getaway that is perfect for all types of dogs with a completely enclosed garden and an additional private field/paddock beyond that which is all included in the rental . Jo, the host, is so warm, welcoming and very knowledgable about the area. Fully equipped and well stocked kitchen with Netflix and Amazon prime accounts to use at your hearts content. It was beautifully equipped with every utensil and comfort needed. The garden space was ideal for two dogs with a large secure paddock space which they really enjoyed. The situation was total peace and quiet. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful including saying that they were understanding if we were a little late leaving on check out day. This was really appreciated as in many cottages you feel very pressured to leave. All in all a brilliant stay and we will be back.

On arrival, their was Christmas music playing and decorations, Joanne said that she enjoyed setting it and you could tell. The welcome basket was lovely too. • "This was one of the best equipped cottages we have ever stayed in!"

Everything was thought of and the furnishings and fittings were all of high standard. We chose The Stables because it looked very nice in the photos (I always check how comfy a sofa looks!) and for the private 2 acre field for our reactive dog (who hates other dogs) so it was blissful to let her charge around without it and we didn't need to walk her elsewhere for fear of bumping into other dog walkers. Sitting on the sofa looking out of the sliding doorways onto the patios and the field was just as lovely and relaxing in the rain as in the sun when we had the doors all slid open and the sun pouring in. What a lovely, lovely place to relax. My most important criteria is a comfy sofa and we barely left this one, where we snoozed and read. The beds were really comfy too. Lots of loungers and outside seating, plus a fire pit and a very smart BBQ and I think this would be a lovely place to stay in the warmer months. I would definitely return. Excellent in every way.

Jo (the owner) has thought of everything to ensure her guests have the best possible holiday experience. It was lovely to have plenty of green space around us, great for our dog, peaceful and tranquil for us. The property was welcoming, comfortable and immaculately clean. You could tell a lot of thought and consideration had been put into this holiday accommodation . The owners obviously wanted their guests to want for nothing and to enjoy the time spent there.. The sunsets were spectacular, however during the day if you wanted to enjoy the sun you had your choice of sun or shade due to the excellent location of the building and and the various outside seating provided. The area was perfect to travel to lots of interesting places with lots of choice of good restaurants or handy cafes dependant on your appetites. Our only regret was that we had not booked a second week. Ann Adams

Apart from that, we had a wonderful time in a quiet, private, comfortable cottage in a beautiful area. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Jo.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay, unfortunately the low water pressure was due to maintenance happening in the area during this week. We do hope this did not inconvenience you too much andlook forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes Property Owner

Clean and welcoming upon arrival with a pleasant welcome-bundle. The garden is large and secure for dogs - there's a private road/lane along one side which sees only very light resident traffic. Exclusive use of the adjacent paddock is a bonus (again, secure and safe for dogs). Inside the cottage, the kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and large fridge-freezer. Can't fault the property! If you're feeling exhausted after walking the Shropshire countryside, there are menus in the cottage for local Chinese and Indian takeaways - both deliver to the cottage, both are fast and both served excellent food.

It's in an excellent location, being surrounded by woods, fields and a beautiful paddock area with nearby stream. It has lovely sitting-out areas, with enough outdoor seats for 12 people! Whilst it's very near the owner's house, it is completely on its own with almost no traffic noise or other distractions. From the lounge area we could see only fields and trees, and one visiting fox.Facilities are first class, with everything you might need. The bedrooms and kitchen / diner are a bit on the small side, but the living room is excellent with lovely views on two side through enormous floor to ceiling windows. There is a good barbecue and fire pit outside, but no tools so you should bring your own if you want to sample the outdoor life. We only met the owner - Jo - for a short space of time - due to the current restrictions on contact, but she made sure we were OK and she could be easily contacted if we'd needed any help (we didn't). The televisions come equipped with Netflix and Amazon Prime - which gives plenty of viewing choice, and you can also stream content from your mobile device if you wish. There is also excellent WI-FI. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well sanitised - even the bedroom pillows are changed and cleaned every week - no need to take your own. We thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage.

Facilities outside of the property are exemplary. We bought a paddling pool and Jo was so kind as to let us fill it up! The grounds are spacious (too spacious for my aging Patterdale, after a run round the field, she was shattered!), there is also a hosepipe, which is great for cooling down too! The cottage itself is incredibly well equipped, immaculately clean and the ceiling fans are a Godsend! Jo and Mike will do anything for you and are incredibly helpful. • "We were surprised about the interest available in the area, in particular the number of walks."

The area and this time of the year was a 1st. for us and based on this experience we feel we can extend our holiday periods. The owner was most pleasant and runs an excellent ship.

It is very rare to find dog friendly accommodation with such high standards. The location was perfect for us too, being so tranquil yet within easy reach of superb dog walking, lovely parks and great shopping centres.

  • "We have two dogs and rarely, if ever, can you find anywhere like The Stables to rent, which is at one end of a well managed field and ideal for the dogs to run around."

The proprietor, Jo Deane and her partner, Mike, who themselves live just across the lane from The Stables were very friendly and helpful as our daughters both live in Shropshire and part of the reason for our stay was to check the area out with a view to relocating. The accommodation was on one level, modern, clean, extremely well equipped and lovely and warm. Highly recommended. We wrote in the Visitors Book, but would be pleased if our comments could be passed onto Jo. With thanks. Susan & Andrew Harfield
