  • "Lovely lodge with all the amenities you could wish for."

Surrounding areas and cleanliness are excellent. Similar to other reviews we found the lounge suite a little uncomfortable but not to the point that it affected the overall experience. We were allowed to check in an hour earlier after contacting the owners. A 4.00pm check in when the surroundings are unfamiliar and its almost dark in winter seems a little late to me. Overall a very relaxing stay.

  • "Everything was thought of from milk in the fridge and some biscuits as well as teabags, coffee and sugar."

We were able to unpack and relax with a cuppa within half an hour. The marina is beautiful and the residents are really friendly. The cafe on site is competitively priced if you don't want to cook, but everything from crockery to cooking utensils and pans, is provided in the lodge if you do. I highly recommend this venue.

  • "The only downside to this property is that if the weather is hot, it gets very warm inside."

A fan is available which does help. Otherwise absolutely perfect for a couple.

  • "A delightful chalet with all amenities."

The location is fantastic - so quiet and chilling. Love the sounds of sheep, birds and the occasional chugging of the barges. Loved clocking the birds in the hedging to the side - whitethroats, lesser whitethroats, blackcaps, chiffchaff, robins, etc.,etc. So peaceful. Love it and will return some day soon.

High quality fixtures and everything you need for self-catering. The lodge is set in a beautiful location with lovely views to admire from the high quality outside furniture. Very comfortable bed, though the bed/settee is not the most comfortable. Bathroom is roomy with lovely large shower. Owners are very friendly and efficient. I would not hesitate to return.

  • "This is our second time staying in the Swift."

It is a lovely location with so many local places to visit. A nice cafe in the Marina and a number of good eating pubs in the area. We hired a dayboat from the Marina through Anglo Welsh and had a peaceful day out on the canal. No doubt that we will be back for a third time.

  • "It was such a pleasure staying in this lovely lodge, situated in a secluded position yet conveniently located to explore Shropshire."

Everything is brand new and spotlessly clean. It is beautifully furnished and very well equipped. We enjoyed every minute. The reason we have given 4 stars for comfort is due to the fact that it gets unbearably hot and it was only in the low 20s. Thankfully, we had taken our own fan. There is one provided in the bedroom but the extra one we used in the living area. I must add that the bed is extremely comfortable. This is definitely one of those rare hidden gems.

  • "Nice peaceful location."

Exactly what we wanted. Everything was spot on. The only downside is the main gate into the marina as it becomes annoying if you want to go out and come back after 6. This is the only negative point. Will definitely be looking to book another stay at The Swift!

A bonus for ourselves with it being pet free. In a superb location at Whixall Marina again so well presented and with a friendly team.. We are returning. Thank you.

  • "I had a lovely stay with my family at Swift cottage."

I really enjoyed going to the on-site cafe and chatting to other people staying / living there. The facilities were good. The guidelines were just enough so everything ran smoothly. I commented in the messages book that the Swift was a lovely place to stay with a young family. We all enjoyed the local attractions such as Bewilderwood and the zoo with Dinosaur Land. One final comment, we were staying with our six- and four-year-old. As you can imagine, bed times went out of the window. We swapped the boys from the bedroom to the fold-out sofa bed once they were asleep. A four-person family in the single bedroom and fold-out sofa worked very well. ;-) Thank you, team Swift.
