  • "Beautiful cosy little cottage down a quiet country lane in an ideal location for exploring the surrounding pretty towns of Nantwich, Audlem and further afield."

We visited in November and the cottage was warm and comfortable, with a smart TV and little electric fire for those rainy afternoons. The kitchen is well appointed and modern with a dishwasher. The memory foam bed was comfortable and the rainfall shower a real highlight. The garden is extensive and off-road parking right outside the cottage. We visited with our dog and enjoyed plenty of local walks, including down the back lanes to the local garden center, there was also a full under-counter freezer for her raw food and a utility room with washing machine, wine cooler and dog bowls. The only improvement I could think of would be a set of sharp knives rather than serrated ones in the kitchen. Definitely follow the arrival instructions after booking and approach from the north, the approach from the south of the lane requires crossing a ford and using a significantly muddy road. Overall a cosy little bolt hole.

The hosts were extremely friendly next door. Nice to be on hand, but in an unobtrusive way. We liked the fact that the cottage has an electric car charge point. The cottage is much better then the online photos illustrate. In the summer, the garden is a delight and so peaceful and tranquil. The cottage is well catered (apart from no dishwasher!) and spotlessly clean. It is basically furnished but has everything one needs. Please be aware that the garden is shared with the owners who have dogs. Whilst not a problem for us and our dog, some visitors may not appreciate this. Also, there is a cat and chickens that can be wandering in the garden from time to time. All in all, we very much liked our stay and had a very well deserved restful break in a lovely part of Cheshire.

Exceptional doesn't begin to say enough about this beautiful cottage and surroundings. My husband and i went for 4 nights with our 2 excited Huskies, and were immediately welcomed by the hosts. The pictures do not do this cottage justice as it has been updated. The minute we walked in we felt at home. The wonderful finer details to the cottage were stunning and i couldn't hide my amazement to the wonderful, friendly hosts. It literally has everything you could ask for. From 2 enormous sofas, the extremely comfortable kingsize bed, the wonderful shower with the largest showerhead i have ever seen! It even has a small utility/ doggy room with extra sink, toilet, husky fridge and separate large freezer. The outside seating area has a wonderful view of the manicured gardens and beyond with a bbq and wood burner for us to use. The lovely walks surrounding the property exhausted our 2 huskies and my husband! There were 3 pubs within 5 minutes drive. I can personally recommend "the boars head" which had a wonderful outside seating area. If you are contemplating this cottage. Please dont hesitate, you will not be disappointed. Quite frankly, i think this property is undervalued. Thanks again Mark, Mark and Kieran who were the best hosts imaginable. We are already planning to go again soon.

  • "This was a lovely base for exploring Cheshire and Shropshire."

I don't know why this is listed as 'North Wales' - it's not in Wales at all. You can drive there from here, but it's quite a distance. It's much more suited bimbling around the area and going up to Chester for a day. The cottage is attached to the owners' house but feels separate. The garden is a joy, with places to sit out in summer, ducks and chickens to talk to and plenty of space to play 'fetch' with the owners' dogs. In the summer the plants outside the windows are alive with bees and butterflies and the trees are busy with birds and the occasional squirrel. The owners are very friendly and kind, and gave helpful suggestions for day trips and finding local amenities. The only thing I could find fault with was the limited storage space for dry goods in the kitchen, mainly because the cupboards are filled with practically every implement you could need.
