The owners always leave lovely welcome gifts! We very much enjoyed the wine, biscuits and fresh flowers. I can reccomend a visit to Newport's traditional indoor market there are treats and antiques for everyone. If you come in winter make sure you bring wellies as some of the rights of way have become very muddy this year with all the rain we've had. Looking forward to visiting again!

There was a lovely atmosphere. Thank you for the welcome gifts, towels and lovely bedding. We had a wonderful stay the kitchen great and it was nice to have a big room so everyone could sit and eat together and our little dog loved the garden. The only thing I found difficult was the stairs as I have mobility issues maybe a better description would be useful for people with similar difficulties. We would highly recommend staying here.

Thank you for your feedback Rebecca. I will make sure to update Sykes’ information about the narrow stairs although we hope the downstairs bedroom compensates for that somewhat. Best wishes Sarah Property Owner

The owners were so accommodating after our sons graduation ceremony moved from 2020 to 2021 and then again to this year as the pandemic ravaged, enabling us to move the booking for which we were very grateful. The ground floor room was ideal for our elderly parents as the stairs are very steep. It was lovely to have the garden to use as the weather was fantastic during our stay.. WiFi was good in the kitchen but the reach upstairs was limited. We had a great stay Thankyou.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased the accommodation worked out so well for you in the end with all the delays. Apologies about the wifi, it can be intermittent upstairs but the extra wifi discs provided should help. Best wishes to all Sarah Property Owner

There was everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The lay out works well for the family coming together for meals, or relaxed sitting in the extensive kitchen/lounge/diner. We used the living room in the evening to watch television. The enclosed garden is safe and ideal for children or a dog (our small dog enjoyed chasing the birds and we knew she was safe and would not escape). The beds were really comfortable too, so we all slept well. The village has a small post office/shop for essentials and we enjoyed a good meal in 'The Lamb' in the village. Larger supermarkets are in Newport, about 3 miles away. Great stay and would highly recommend it.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and recommendation. We think the garden is a special little place too. The Lamb is brilliant- allows dogs too. Best wishes Sarah Property Owner

Property is a great holiday home with enclosed garden. We enjoyed fire in the separate sitting area on evening. Staircase is steep and a 180 degree turn so don’t bring large bags unless you only intend to only use 2 bedrooms for sleeping then you can leave bags in third downstairs. Well equipped.

1.Total lack of cleaning materials for both toilet and kitchen area. 2.Microwave oven integral to main oven and very difficult to understand instructions.House needs a simple open/close,on/off microwave that can be used in an instant. 3.large amount of electrical wiring unsecured in utility room, which could accidentally be touched, whilst usuing the washer/dryer.

We are so sorry to hear you felt that the property was lacking. Had we been made aware of these issues at the time we would have looked to rectify them for you immediately. We are rather surprised that you did not come across the washing up liquid by the sink or the antibacterial cleaning spray in the cupboard underneath. The Microwave instructions are pinned to the wall next to the microwave to help if you are having difficulty using this. The electrical wiring you have noted is a data cable from the router to the socket and this is perfectly safe and used in homes and modern offices. We leave a Welcome note in the property with 2 contact numbers on for ourselves in the property, we are very sad that you did not contact us so that we could have helped you make your stay more comfortable. • "Holiday accommodation great."

My only complaint is about Sykes itself. I complained early on about the incessant irrelevant emails most with no direct Information about my booked accommodation. I sent in a complaint asking you to stop sending them. I received a reply saying your complaints section was busy and you would reply as soon as you were able. There has been no response from you. Do you really have that many complaints? The emails have kept coming with no respite. My frustration and annoyance continues to the point where, apart from this one where I can make my point again and hopefully you will act and respond, I no longer open them. As each day passes and each new unnecessary and unwanted email arrives the chances of Sykes getting a future booking diminishes. I don’t bother to consider opening them anymore. I understand you feel direct marketing is something you want to do but really what is the point when it is used so much that it is then ignored and quite frankly they become a ‘b - - - - - nuisance’ . I could unsubscribe but is that the impact you want to achieve? But I will likely soon if I don’t get a timely response this time.

The underfloor heating was fab and the enclosed garden (that is actually enclosed!) was lovely for our little dog. Beds were very comfortable, the house was beautifully done and a real gem. We would definitely recommend The Lamb Inn pub - fab food! A few things we noted that were a little disappointing/things to consider for future guests - • the wifi only worked in the downstairs bedroom & kitchen. • both toilet seats were broken and needed fixing or replacing. • the towel rail in the upstairs bathroom was a hazard (especially for children) as it was placed right next to the loo and got extremely hot when the heating was on even low. • Upstairs shower head needs replacing as only half the jets worked unfortunately. •

  • "The house is really modern and well stocked."

It is in a quiet village but note that the pub next door is closed. We were not informed of this until 2 days before we arrived. It was advertised when we booked that there was a pub next door and only when we found out the info ourselves and asked the vendor was it confirmed. However, there is another pub only 5 minutes walk. Nice canal walks into the local town and the town has many pubs and restaurants. We recommend visiting BOD. The Kitchen/ dining/ lounge area is lovely but note that the TV is not in this room. Although it was lovely, the floor was very dirty. We noticed this after a few hours after arriving and our socks were filthy. Thank goodness for slippers and the mop! There is underfloor heating which we couldn't quite work out. It was often very cold in the house during the day and then very very hot at night. The floor was very warm and this made it difficult with a dog. We had a cage and had to regularly move the cage to cold spots so that the dog did not over heat. The welcome book said that the floor temperature was set during the winter months. We tried to work out how to turn it off but wasn't very successful. If it wasn't for the dog we probably wouldn't have cared so much. The snug room was great with the fire and gets warm very quickly (great after a new years day walk). Note that the snug room is not really big enough for 6 adults. There is 1 large sofa and 2 chairs (not arm chairs) only. The bedrooms were great and beds were very comfy. Both bathrooms were good size and clean. Nice garden and big enough for the dog to run around for 5 minutes between walks. The kitchen had everything we needed. We took our own tea towels and cleaning products which was useful - it's fairly standard that there are few tea towels and 1 or 2 dish washer tablets which is why we take our own. This might feel like a mixed review which is fair. However, we would stay at this house again. The modern cottage style was lovely and with a downstairs bedroom i would even consider a family holiday with grandparents.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you struggled with the room temperature. The owner does leave instruction in the manual on how to operate this. The floor is thermostatically controlled in zoned areas with a simple on/off switch for each zone, if you had advised ourselves or the owner we would have been only too happy to have someone come over to resolve this for you to make your stay more comfortable. With reference to the floors, again if this had been raised it could have been rectified for you, the owner has never has a previous comment of a similar vein to this and was surprised to read it. We hope this didn't detract from your time at Cornerways and the owner looks forward to seeing you again soon. Property Owner

Great space for the dog and the garden was a nice safe space for our GSD. We have friends in the village and we would definitely use Cornerways again. We have stayed in a lot of cottages and this features near the top in terms of space and comfort. We live the surrounding area and think that Shropshire is a beautiful destination. The welcome gifts were really appreciated. The cottage and garden were big enough for our family of 5 people and our large dog. The cottage is situated between 2 pubs but unfortunately were closed when we were there but that didn't spoil our holiday. (one is opening up again after refurbishment about 2nd August). The car parking is a bit of an issue as the road can be quite busy trying to get on and off the gravel parking bay but we managed. There is a large recreational area about 200 yards down Shrewsbury Road, which has a cricket pitch, goal posts and multi sports court. There are plenty of places to take a dog for walks. The people we spoke to were very friendly and gave us some ideas where we could go to eat and places to visit. We ate a few meals at The Sutherland Arms in Tibberton about 10 mins drive. On a Monday The Swan at Forton do a carvery for £5 and is really value for money and gets quite busy so you may need to book. Newport is the closest shopping area where there is a fish and chip shop, curry shop, kebab shop and Waitrose and a few more shops. Places we would recommend to visit would be Chester, Ironbridge,Llangollen, Cadburys World,
