We received a bottle of Prosecco and some lovely flowers and eggs upon arrival a nice touch. The property was light and spacious and had the benefit of an enclosed garden where we could let our two family dogs run around in safely. Location was very quiet but not too far from amenities if required. We used the Aldi supermarkets nearby for food shopping. Whilst staying here we visited Chester Zoo about 45 mins away and Hawkstone follies about 10 mins away. I could highly recommend both for families. All in all the property was excellent and if we are ever planning the area again as a family would not hesitate to book again. Thank you Paul again for sharing your property with us

The property is lovely inside and out with everything you need for a nice break. The hot tub is a nice addition and we made good use of it even though it was only 3 degrees outside while we were there. The garden is also ideal for dogs as it’s fully enclosed with access to a big field at the back. Paul was on hand to welcome us and answer any questions. Will definitely return here.

  • "This property is stunning."

The owner was great at communicating and also left us some goodies on arrival. The only downside was that the hot tub wasn’t warm enough for the evening of arrival. The visitor’s book mentioned that this is the case because it is ‘fresh’ on arrival. I presumed they had replaced the water and it hadn’t achieved full temperature yet. Other than this, the weekend was lovely and the setting was idyllic. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Thank you for the great feedback. Sorry for the hot tub normally Sykes mention with bookings that it might not be available the first night but coinciding with the extreme cold it didn’t quite make it on temperature Property Owner

Paul was welcoming and available but discretely so. The property is beautiful, clean, spacious and we made good use of the hot tub. Great to have a dishwasher, washing machine and streaming sites available on tv to use own accounts. There was plenty to do in the area, there was a lot we didn’t have time to do that we would have liked to. The stairs are quite steep so would be difficult for someone with bad mobility issues and possibly could do with a shower mat as it’s a little slippy. That’s being really picky as I don’t have anything bad to say.

On arrival you get the sense of wow factor, lovely area and lovely plot! Was greeted by the owner Paul, very polite and kind, was a quick check in procedure and even allowed an earlier check in! The house itself is very spacious, gorgeous kitchen/dining area and the garden was perfect finished off with a great hot tub. The only negative I’d say is it requires more kitchenware (cooking equipment). All in all a great snd would defo recommend!

Thanks Richard and glad you had a great week. I’ve gone x1.5 to x2 the recommended for six people from Sykes checklists and do recognise it requires keeping on top of the washing up whilst on a break and hence why I’ve included the dishwasher as an aid. It’s a balance between minimum and controlling the breakages hence I’ve added extras but would encourage anyone to ask for anything they feel missing or would help Property Owner

  • "The Cart House was an a fantastic base location for our recent family holiday to Shropshire."

Property was finished to a really high standard (as per the pictures in the listing). Everything we needed was on hand to ensure a relaxing family holiday for 2 adults, 2 children and our family dog. Hot tub was an added bonus and we put it to good use. The garden was secure and we had no concerns from a dog owners point of view. The Owner (Paul) was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of local areas and was kind enough to have provided some nice touches with bread, milk, eggs and prosecco. We used the Cart House for a base location and did 6 day trips to: - Trentham Monkey Forrest (would recommend) - Hawkstone Park Follies (would recommend) - Edrigg (National Trust) - Shrugborough (National Trust - would recommend) - Chirk Castle (National Trust) - Attingham Park (National Trust - would recommend) .... all within a 45 min drive of the Cart House. David Austin Roses is 40 mins away but we'll worth a visit if you like something different British Ironworks at Oswestry is a must with some great deals to be had to. Addington House is a good trip out if a member of the National Trust. For those who fancy a run there a nice 5km loop and if you like a short cycle a 17km loop with a pub in the middle. The hot tub is a large tub and we had a great time to relax after a day out. Superb for our dog who could roam in the fenced in large garden Only point I would suggest would be to install a downstairs toilet but that’s only a small thing just my old legs running upstairs. • "A beautiful house in a beautiful location."

You really are in the middle of nowhere so I suggest you do a food shop before you arrive! Paul was a fantastic host and always on hand if we needed anything. Lovely touch leaving milk, eggs, bread, flowers, and alcohol for the first evening. The property is in the middle of nowhere very secluded, with two parking spaces at the front. The property was done out to a very high spec and the underfloor heating downstairs was amazing. It gets extremely hot in the afternoon with the sun on it. We struggled to work the heating though and think it maybe a good idea to explain how to use the heating in the manual, as not everyone is use to all this technology! The kitchen area was great, I do think it maybe worth providing more cuterly, plates, pans etc, as of there is six of you staying and cooking a big breakfast you had to wash and reuse pans. It would have been nice to have some kitchen foil and kitchen roll to use. Upstairs area is fantastic, three spacious bedrooms all with wardrobes. One en-suite and one family bathroom. The Hot Tub was amazing, very clean, could do with more lighting outside though, as the security light goes off after a minute or so and the solar lights are no good in the winter! Overall a fantastic week would definitely recommend it. Thank you Paul.

Thanks for the kind worlds. Living in the beautiful Shropshire scenery you get used to the shops being 5 miles away - I’m an old city boy I’ll will look at some more lights or move the sensor to go with the lights built into the tub as would love you to come back in the future. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous, hidden gem in Shropshire We wanted a short break to escape our self-imposed lockdown of two years plus an escape from the diagnosis of cancer and before the real treatment starts."

Cart House is just brilliant for this. The owner, Paul is very keen to welcome guests personally and is on hand during the week to help with any assistance and advice. The property is very quiet and secluded with off-road parking for two cars. Inside is magical – a literally barn-sized, open plan lounge, diner and kitchen. All with oak beams overhead but modern in its equipment and design. There’s even a breakfast bar with stools. One amazing contribution to the homeliness is underfloor heating – a boon for guests as well as canine visitors. The backdoor leads out onto a large, enclosed lawn with picnic & BBQ area and the fabulous hot tub. Back inside, up the stone feature staircase, you are lead to the three impressive bedrooms – the first is ensuite but all three have a vast headroom up to the original oak beams. There is also a family bathroom at the end. The whole home is well furnished with luxury touches – blinds as well as curtains. A thermostat just for upstairs which shows the good design. For the chef – the kitchen is vast and well equipped (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, electric touch hob and extractor, fridge & freezer plus a pod espresso machine). The whole place has a brand new feel to it and it is all well maintained. It’s a great area to explore: hiking, dog walking, pub visiting (a huge and I think well researched list is in the welcome pack). We came here in part to revisit old haunts when we sailed by in our old narrowboat – everywhere now is so easily reachable – Market Drayton (Joules Brewery), Whitchurch, Whixall Moss, Shrewsbury . . . . An ideal place for couples, whole families, two families and dogs! A gem and highly recommended

You were fantastic guests and thank you for the lovely feedback - you are welcome anytime. Property Owner

Paul the owner sorted out 2 minor issues very quickly and efficiently. He had left us a "welcome" pack with some essentials milk, bread, dishwasher tablets, flowers and a bottle of prosseco - all appreciated and a nice touch. If we were to suggest any improvement it would be a bigger dining table, we were unable to sit 6 of us around the table provided but it did not detract from the holiday. We have stayed at 15+ rental homes/cabins in the last 4/5 years and this definitely has been the best one to date. Paul, the host, was incredibly humble and welcoming which is always a plus. The home itself felt like it was made with great care, attention to detail and consideration as it has been made so very well. Every room in the property was refreshing, clean and spacious! The open plan kitchen space is perfect for either a family stay or even if you are staying with some friends, simply because of the large space which allows everybody to relax and enjoy themselves in one room. The kitchen was well equipped with pans, utensils and cooking space. A large induction hob which make cooking very easy and quic. The fridge/freezer has more than enough space to hold plenty of food/drink for the full weekend for 6 adults. The bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect and each room has plenty of space. We made great use of the hot tub daily, both in the day and night. In the day, the garden gets a perfect view of the sunset and fields and at night the hot tub has LED lighting in with a nicely lit pergola. This property most definitely exceed my expectations and we will 100% be re-booking this place in the future as it was 10 out of 10. Thanks for such a great and long needed weekend break!
