  • "This cottage was perfect!"

!! It was the most amazing pre Christmas break and the cottage provided us with everything to make our stay complete. Luxury is at the heart of this property with an extremely homely feel. The Christmas tree added to the experience. A lovely welcome gift pack…. For the adults and furry friends was a splendid touch. Can’t wait to visit again. Thank you so much for sharing your little gem with us.

  • "Beautifully appointed very comfortable accommodation with everything you could need."

Lovely handwritten welcome card and complimentary pack (+ 1 for our dog), and helpful information about local facilities/events. Patio area furniture and enclosed space very tempting, although in December we didn't make use of it! Can walk out if the door to local hostelries and shops, and then onto moorland if you wish to test yourself. Station just up the road for train to Manchester / Huddersfield. Brilliant.

  • "This cottage really does have everything, the kitchen is better equipped than ours at home!"

The house itself is lovely, really clean and well kept. It has a great, secure yard for the dogs, comfy beds and plenty of space. The welcome pack, which included a little gift bag for the dogs was also a lovely touch. The location was perfect with lots of good pubs, cafes and restaurants nearby, all within a short walk, and a big Tesco just across the road. You are spoilt for choice with walks either straight from the doorstep or a short drive away.

  • "21 Chew Valley Road is like home from home."

The perfect place to stay for lots of reasons. The favorite moments of our stay was walking! Dovestones, Bridal path and canal walk to Mossley; to Dobcross & Delph; Upperhill & lots more. Places we reccommend is The Old Bell Inn in Delph; Scona; Station Brew Cafe; Sweet Vintage in Mossley; Dobcross Garden Centre. Regards, Rosemary & Eugene.

  • "The house is comfortable and very well equipped."

Nice welcome pack (including doggy presents) even though we were only staying for 3 nights, and a very informative information book on the property and surrounding areas has been put together from very attentive owners. Lovely walks and villages nearby, along with pubs and and a handy Tesco superstore. Well recommended and hope to return in the future.

  • "We have had a very pleasant stay."

The house is very attractive and comfortable, and extremely well fitted out with everything you could need. I loved your colour schemes. We didn't cook, but it's nice to know we could have done if we'd needed to. We found you had provided very well for pets, much more than we expected which was very nice. • "What an absolutely stunning house!"

Everything you could possibly need was catered for. We particularly loved the little luxuries for example, the high thread count sheets and soft fluffy towels. The owner Gill is such a lovely lady and even posted my little dog’s squeaky toy back to us which was left behind. We will definitely be returning. As for the area.. beautiful walks straight off the doorstep and some wonderful eateries in Uppermill (a short 15 min walk). Will definitely be returning.

About the location

Uppermill 1 mile; Oldham 7 miles; Huddersfield 15.5 miles.

Greenfield is one of seven villages nestling amongst the 18,000 acres of moorland hills, open fields and scenic valleys that comprise the Saddleworth area. These Pennine villages have a wool spinning and agricultural heritage dating back to the Industrial Revolution, but today Saddleworth has evolved into an attractive South Pennine and Peak District National Park area with breathtaking views and glorious stone-built buildings. Greenfield is a thriving little village with a good range of amenities, and well placed to explore the South Pennine region. Greenfield has Saddleworth’s largest park in Churchill Playing Fields, which includes a skateboard park and tennis courts. It also has the canal marina and Saddleworth’s train station, which is an extremely popular stopping off point on the ‘Real Ale Rail Trail’ and offers easy access into Manchester for a city visit. Live entertainment at local pubs includes folk, rock, jazz and classical guitar concerts, and the ‘Off the Rails’ comedy club.
Saddleworth is home to a wide range of festivals and community events, the most famous of which is the Whit Friday Band contest, which attracts the UK’s and Europe’s top brass bands and was the backdrop to the film ‘Brassed Off’. Another well loved film ‘Yanks’ was set in Saddleworth and is also commemorated by a major weekend festival.
Almost every weekend features a visitor attraction, be it a canal festival, vintage car rally, the Saddleworth Rushcart procession, real ale festival, morris dancing competition or the well regarded Farmer’s Market. Nearby attractions include Dovestones Reservoir for boating and walks, and the Castleshaw Valley with an interpretation trail for a Roman fort, the highest of a series built on the Roman military road from Chester to York.
