Hot tub was ready and hot for our arrival and the fairy lights around the outside area are a really lovely touch. Knives need a little sharpen but everything else was perfect.

  • "The photos didn’t do justice to how lovely this lodge was."

The lodge had everything we needed for a pleasant stay and was very comfortable. It’s a great location off Rudyard Lake, and is very private with huge, well maintained hot tub and veranda with underfloor heating. High recommended.

  • "Amazing stay at Kipling Lodge, the lodge itself was clean, fresh and beautiful views."

All the appliances in the lodge were very high standard and the hot tub was fantastic. The only little issue is if you have little children like ours (3 years old) they can easily unlock the doors and escape. A bolt or something similar at the top of the door would have made us worry less.

  • "On balance, it was a fantastic holiday, the lodge was amazing and Matt and Mark were very helpful."

The lodge is very near to the lake but at the same time far enough away to be private. The hot tub and giant Connect 4 were very popular with our grandson! The welcome bottle of wine waiting in the fridge was a lovely touch too. The only words of caution we have are that the lodge does get very warm at night, there is a big portable fan but we could probably have done with another one. Plus, please be aware that this is a remote spot, there is no local shop, the one advertised as being on the adjoining caravan park closed over a year ago! This did not spoil our stay but would have been good to know in advance.

  • "A true home from home in super relaxed surroundings - hot tub is fantastic."

Useful to know - there are no shops in the local town, nearest supermarkets is approx. 10 minute drive. You do need to seek out activities/places to go and visit. Perhaps one small suggestion would be an information pack with activities/places to visit/ supermarkets/ takeaways etc. as you find in many holiday homes. Peaceful, relaxed and chilled time had by all. Garden and decked area are both gated and were ideal and dog friendly for our beagle. Thanks for a lovely stay x

Plenty of room. Best thing......HOT TUB. Owners came every morning to check water safety. Hot tub saved our holiday with 3 grandchildren because weather was a ‘washout’ even though it was August. Garden Great for our 2 puppies. Loved Rudyard Lake. Fishermen get a few pounds of the daily rate if resident at the lodge. Nothing to moan about we had a lovely week despite the weather.

The lodge has a small garden that was well fenced in for our two small dogs. Great for a base for good walks. Lodge itself was very comfortable with great undercover terrace with dining and hot tub privately positioned to the side of the property. Owners Matt and Mark serviced the hot tub everyday and were available for any issues. Thanks for a great stay, see you soon.

The cottage was very comfortable, nicely set and very well equipped. We felt particularly like at home as the interior was arranged similarly to our own house, even the cutlery and crockery was the same! We had great expectations so I've marked 'Met Expectations', but everything was really good. The hot tub was working and clean, floor heating was on at the veranda so even on a cooler day we were very comfortable. All cleaning equipment and materials were supplied, we were only short on bin bags. The arrival and leaving date on a Friday was not most convenient either.Other that that highly recommended.

Lots to do without having to resort to driving: Boat hire. A five mile scenic walk around the lake. A flat cycle/footpath route beside the narrow gauge railway leading to Leek in one direction, and a lovely dog friendly pub (the Knot Inn) in the other direction. The Rudyard Hotel is a very short, safe walk, serving good value pub-grub and is also dog friendly. Thank you Matthew for providing us with the ideal location for our summer break. We will highly recommend Kipling Lodge to anyone seeking a relaxing break or a more active holiday. An easy 5 stars across the board from us.

We were three adults, two children and a dog and it accommodated us all well. The kitchen is pretty well equipped for a holiday home, lots of towels and other comforts and newly decorated. The kids loved the hot tub and the dog loved the adjacent field. The lake is two minutes walk away and the nearby hotel has a great beer garden. We also took bikes and a kayak. I only marked the cleaning down one as the floor wasn’t entirely clean when we arrived, but everything else was totally spotless. Suited us well and would def recommend.

This Lodge is kitted out to a high specification, including a large Jacuzzi. It is set in a beautifully enclosed area where the birds and squirrels wake you up in the morning. The owner Matt was so helpful and ensured all our needs were met during our stay. We were a party of husband and wife and two children in their 20's, plus Digby the dog. 100 yards away behind a body of trees is the Rudyard Lake and small steam railway. The town of Leek is 5 minutes in the car for all your culinary needs, although there is a small shop on sit for any necessities. This place is so nice I actually didn't want to write a review so that we could go again without too much competition.Great WiFi reception, great TV, great Fridge Freezer, great underfloor heating etc.etc.. I could go on and on, but do yourself a favour and spent sometime here before it's booked out forever. Perfect place to return to each night after walks like The Roaches or Dovedale which were fabulous. Even found 'The Lazy Trout' Pub which was excellent! We are definitely going back soon for more of the same.John, Jeanette Harry, Maria and Digby....rated 5 'woofs'.

I usually always take cleaning products with me when I go on holiday but no need because the lodge was spotless. The attention to detail and the little extra's going that extra mile are what I feel make a holiday that little bit extra special. Soap, cleaning products, cloths, dish washer tablets,T.towels were all provided. It doesn't state that there is an iron and ironing board provided but there is. This lodge is beautifully refurbished to a very high spec. The beds and pillows are pure luxury are extremely comfortable, the best weeks sleep I've ever had. The kitchen goes beyond being fully equipped as there is an extensive range of crockery and utensils. We loved the heated hot tub, especially after long walks and despite the colder November weather, it was heaven to relax in the secluded hot tub. My two youngest children didn't like water on their faces but after a day in the hot tub, they both had the confidence to dunk their heads under water. The children particularly enjoyed playing with the giant Jenga game and the giant connect four. Set in a stunning, tranquil location along Rudyard Lake. Sainsbury's superstore is 7-10 mins by car for everything you need and Leek is 3 miles. Mathew (Matt) was the perfect host and he and Mark's hospitality was great! A lovely welcome gift of a bottle of wine on arrival was very much appreciated. Almost don't want to write a good review because I want to keep this little gem of a place secret! We will definitely stay at Kipling Lodge again in the future. Michelle, James and family

  • "For the three of us, all over 60, admittedly, Kipling Lodge is now the benchmark other lodges will have to live up to and it is clear that the owners have not stinted in its refurbishment."

The lodge is incredibly high-end in terms of the quality of the fixtures and fittings. The kitchen is superb. The dinner service and matching oven to tableware is just beautiful and encourages the user to make the table presentation for meals more like a five-star hotel than a holiday lodge. The saucepans etc are also good quality as is the range of cooking utensils. The main bathroom is excellent and the shower is big enough for anyone to get in easily. The showers themselves in the main bathroom and in the ensuite are identical, but the cubicle in the ensuite is more challenging for those who are less flexible. Two bedrooms have 5’ beds and the third is two bunk beds. The underfloor heating can be zoned, so that the bedrooms remain cool whilst the main room is warm underfoot. The furniture in the main sitting area is also good quality and comfortable with a pleasant view over the well-maintained garden and grassy area beyond. The outside eating area is secluded and next to the hot-tub. We found the adjacent lakeside excellent and the Rudyard Light Steam Railway, which runs alongside the lake is an enjoyable resource, although we found it fabulous for walking the dog early in the morning before anyone else was up. Within easy reach is Leek, a charming market town which has a substantial Sainsburys and a big Lidl will opening soon. 30 minutes away is Buxton and Chester is about an hour and twenty minutes drive. We loved it and we will be back
