About the property

Nestled within the beautiful Cheshire countryside and just a few miles away from the bustling village of Tarporley is this self-contained unit, Wagtail, set within the walled gardens of the owner’s home.

This superb self-catering cottage is ideal for couples or solo travellers seeking to enjoy the plethora of walks within the surrounding countryside or to use as a base to enjoy the city of Chester and the magnitude of attractions within the pretty county.

Enter into the open-plan living room, where the large patio doors flood natural light into the space or can be opened up to allow a fresh breeze to wash over the contemporary furnishings during the summer months, creating a tranquil environment to be in as you unwind for the evenings.

The kitchen comes with a quality electric oven, gas hob and microwave to assist you in cooking up a storm, as well as a sleek island unit, where a glass of wine can be savoured as dinner simmers on the hob.

Joining the space is a spacious sitting area, complete with a plush leather sofa and a Smart TV; flick through the channels or get lost within a good book as you relax after an action-packed day.

Completing the interior is a well-presented double bedroom with space to prepare for your day and to hang your clothes.

To the exterior, table and chairs within the walled garden offer an opportunity for alfresco dining, whilst the large paddock is great for allowing your canine companion to stretch his legs as you soak up your magnificent surroundings.

If you do not feel like cooking one evening, venture into Tarporley, a sought-after village, which is home to a number of takeaways and a pub, as well as a cluster of shops for picking up any essentials.

Those feeling adventurous will be spoilt for choice by the number of walks available within the immediate area, including a walk along the Shropshire Union Canal and up towards Beeston Castle or there is Delamere Forest, where you can escape the crowds and find trails suitable for all abilities.

Alternatively, head into the historical city of Chester, where there is even more places to eat and drink, as well as great opportunities for some retail therapy.

Whilst in the city, be sure to complete the city walls, visit the oldest racecourse in Britain, the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain and the impressive 1000-year-old Cathedral.

Other attractions within the area include Chester Zoo, which is home to 35,000 animals from 500 different species or venture to one of the National Trust properties situated slightly further afield, including Dunham Massey House & Garden or Erddig House in Wrexham.

Secure your stay at Wagtail and look forward to the Cheshire adventure.

About the location

Chester 10 miles.

Tarporley is located in the local authority area of Cheshire West and Chester in rural Cheshire and the village is considered one of the county’s most attractive villages. The countryside surrounding Tarporley is perfect walking terrain, the famous Sandstone Trail, one of the best of the shorter long-distance trails in the north of England, passes close to the town. Tarporley Carnival, an annual event which takes place in July, is a popular community event with a parade in High Street to the show ground on Community Field. The village has also become something of a shopper’s haven.
