The cottage

Nestled on the outskirts of the small village of Whixall, Shropshire, this wonderful detached lodge is situated next to the owners historic Grade II listed home, Toll Keepers Lodge.

The lodge offers modern accommodation for couples in the heart of the English countryside.

For a one bedroom lodge, this property offers spacious rooms with high-quality furnishings, and is ideally situated near many local attractions - boasting lovely stone floors throughout.

Internally, there is an open-plan living room and dining area with seating for up to six people.

Boasting wonderful exposed beams, which shows the wealth of character this property has.

With two brown leather sofas, where you can relax and unwind after a long day, in front of the large TV with Sky and DVD player.

The kitchen is wonderfully fitted with a set of black units, white worktops and an attractive grey tiling, with plenty of appliances on-hand.

There are a few steps leading up to a spacious super king-size bedroom with zip and link features, so it can be twin beds upon request.

There is off-road parking available for several cars.

Outside, there is a spacious lawned garden and a decking area with a table and chairs provided, the perfect place to sit out of a morning with a warming cup of English breakfast tea.

Toll Keepers Lodge is situated along the banks of the Shropshire Union Canal where fishing is permitted with a licence.

Walkers will love the area as the lodge is a stones throw away from Fenns, Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses National Nature Reserve, part of Britains third lowland raised bog site of Special Scientific Interest.

For nature lovers, there is an abundance of mosses trails where kingfishers, flag iri, butterflies and banded demoiselle damselflies can be seen.

The property is situated along the Shropshire Union Canal where fishing is allowed as long as a fishing permit is held.

Further afield, you can enjoy Hawkstones famous Follies, which are a collection of man-made caves, cliffs and grottoes along with the beautiful towns of Shrewsbury, Chester and Telford, not forgetting Iron Bridge.

Toll Keepers Lodge is the ideal place for a romantic holiday.
