“Jacks Cottage is in a beautiful location.”

Horses in the field adjoining your back garden, which was great. Beds were really comfortable, the pillows were great too (which is unusual in my experience). Great communication with owner prior to arrival. Lovely welcome - we met the cleaner who was super helpful and friendly. We had a delivery of cake and milk later in the day too which was unexpected. Lots of hot water. If I had to offer a negative comment it would be very difficult but I would say that we could not find the WiFi code ...

Lots of hot water. If I had to offer a negative comment it would be very difficult but I would say that we could not find the WiFi code and also we could not find a first aid kit when I needed something for a bite. Jacks Cottage is truly a lovely cottage in a great location. We will definitely return at some point.

About the location

MARBURY

Whitchurch 3 miles; Chester 20 miles; Shrewsbury 25 miles.

Marbury is a picturesque village in Cheshire, 3 miles north east of Whitchurch. There are mere lakes to the south and east sides of the village, the largest of which is a fishing lake. At the heart of the village is the 15th century church of St Michael’s, next to which the annual Marbury Merry Days fair takes place each May. In the centre of the village stands The Swan Inn, a classic old English farmhouse pub which serves food and has a beer garden. There are wonderful local walks, some of which have featured in The Times, and the views from the top of Marbury Hill across the lake and the Cheshire plains are idyllic. The village is half a mile away from the Llangollen canal, ideal for long walks and nature spotting. The historic city of Chester is easily reached, with Roman walls, a pretty riverside, famous zoo and plenty of shops and eateries. To the south, the black-and-white buildings of Shrewsbury house an array of amenities, and the castle, cathedral and river all make great places to explore.
