  • "Property was lovely and the owner welcoming."

Cottage was well-appointed and having the logburner already going when we arrived (at a pre-confirmed time) was a nice touch. It was spacious for 4, with the pantry in the kitchen providing lots of storage space (not always a given in self-catering properties). The courtyard garden was nice and being able to access the grounds was less important to us during the autumn (although it was great to have the space for children to play outside). During the summer, it would be great to be able to sit outside in the courtyard. We really enjoyed our stay.

Unfortunately, our car broke down and it took the AA four days to fix it which we were extremely grateful to them for. That said, being unable to travel far for those 4 days wasn't a problem because Courtyard Cottage was so comfortable, cosy, well equipped and full of beautiful character. The grounds are also vast and beautifully kept. Mark & Adrian were also extremely welcoming and supportive (especially reference our car issue) which was much appreciated. We would love to return and cannot recommend Courtyard Cottage enough.

Mark is very friendly and helpful (giving us some tips of where to visit) and gave us a very warm welcome. There was a lovely welcome pack of bread, butter, milk, tea, coffee and homemade jam. There is plenty of room in the cottage and although there were only two of us we thought there would still be ample room for more people. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen had all the equipment you could need. The courtyard was beautiful and a good place to watch wildlife that flitted in and out (mainly birds). We would thoroughly recommend it.

  • "We returned yesterday from a wonderful stay at Courtyard Cottage."

Mark and Adrian were warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The cottage was wonderful - spotlessly clean with everything we could possibly need. The cottage is well-furnished, and we found everything to be of high quality. The beds are comfortable, the heating was easy to control and the house was warm and toasty in a chilly November. There's a lovely log burner with kindling, firelighters and wood provided to get you started, but the house was so cosy anyway we didn't use it. Lots of light switches mean you can turn the lights on & off from lots of different areas in the house which was great. There were plenty of coat hangers in the walk-in wardrobes, and a hairdryer (thank you! I forgot to bring mine!). Some of the sockets were for 3 round pins, but there were plenty of normal sockets. The wifi was strong & reliable and the en-suite shower was hot & easy to use. The TV isn't a smart TV so don't plan to watch Netflix (wasn't a problem for us). We were given milk, eggs, jam, bread & butter, and tea, coffee and sugar. The website said to take your own tea towels but these were provided along with oven gloves, dishwasher tablets, washing up cloths, sponges & liquid, clingfilm & tin foil (very handy, thank you!), and there were plenty of spare toilet rolls. The cottage is in a wonderful area only 25 minutes from Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth, and just over an hour from Chester. Mark gave us some great recommendations for places to eat. We especially enjoyed SpiceLand curry house in Woodbridge. Directions to the house on the website were perfect - it was easy to find, and our sat nav took us directly there anyway. The house is in a small hamlet so it's very rural and you definitely need a car, but this was part of its charm - and it was only a very short drive to the nearest shop. post office and restaurant. Would we return? Definitely. And we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the house to others.

Just to clarify as we weren't sure from the listing - there is one single room downstairs. Then two bedrooms upstairs - a twin with a bathroom opposite, and along the landing a king size with ensuite. The courtyard was a sun trap and the gardens great for relaxing. Lovely quiet location but lots of attractions within half an hours drive - we went to Ironbridge museums, RAF Cosford, Shrewsbury Prison, Hoo Zoo, Arlingham Court & Hawkestone Follies and a bit further afield to Drayton Manor - plenty to do with children.
