“The barn has everything you need to keep you occupied and entertained, particularly in bad weather!”
It is warm and cosy and a very comfortable nights sleep. The owner is always there when you need him and supplies can be dropped in whenever requested. Highly recommend, we will be returning.

“Cottage was nowhere near as clean or well equipped as photos suggested.”
Cobwebs from light fittings, biscuit wrappers under bed, whiteboard not clean. Toys broken or very tired. Smart tvs required updating. Garden very muddy (understandably as weather cannot be helped) but decking very slippy. Sadly, the photos and build up were so nice that it just didn't live up to the hype. Our little boy had looked at photos prior to visit and was disappointed when it wasn't what he saw e.g. Broken water pistols. The host also puts blue food colouring into the hot tub which dyed our guests blue! The host was very attentive and helped during a power cut, however The cottage required a really deep clean and all the facilities, whilst wonderful to offer, lose their appeal when unchecked. Wouldn't revisit sadly as whilst it had the potential to be a wonderful place, and excellent for large groups I'm sure, it just was too expensive for basic cleanliness/ maintenance to not be upheld. Hopefully the host will improve upon some of these points and if is it will be a lovely holiday location.
“David's cottage is the perfect place for a friends gettogether, even in the middle of winter.”
The woodfired hot tub keeps you toasty outside and if you'd rather be inside there's the massive kitchen with enough space for everyone to sit around the table! We had the perfect weekend.
“Excellent facilities, spotless, perfect family cottage and nothing was too much trouble for Dave the owner.”
This is THE best holiday cottage we have stayed in and everyone was catered for. The cottage is packed with books, family games and toys to suit all ages and the welcoming pack was a lovely touch. I will definitely be returning and have raved about it to all my friends, a real GEM of a place.
“We were a group of old friends having a girly weekend away and squirrel barn was the perfect location.”
David could not have been more helpful and even before arrival he ensured we had all the information to make our stay even more successful. Little details were greatly appreciated such as the abundance of towels, and a file full of local walks. A soggy countryside walk and a few drinks in the local pub made Saturday hilarious and coming back to a lovely warm cosy cottage was the icing on the cake. We would definitely recommend squirrel barn.
“Squirrel Barn is a spectacular place for families and parties.”
It is great for any large adult group, but Squirrel Barn is brilliantly designed for families with children. There are toys, games, a sandpit, Bluetooth sound bars, speakers, and a massive curved screen TV with surround sound! There is even an Alexa with its own sound bar! Swings and slides, toys, bikes, trikes, scooters, there is everything you can imagine. We used the zip wire all the time, this is some zip wire! The bouncy castle was used every day. Badminton every day. Darts. Basketball. Table tennis. Bowls. Croquet. Go carts, even a tandem! The paddling pool has a hot water supply and a hot shower! The hot tub was amazing, I have never seen one like this. Nothing is too much trouble for the host David or the cleaning staff who called in twice to check everything was fine and asked if we needed anything and even supplied us with more free range eggs. I would recommend Squirrel Barn to anybody.
“Fantastic family holiday”
This is a fantastic property to take children. We were a party of 4 adults and 4 children. There is plenty of space both inside and out, the children are kept brilliantly occupied by numerous toys and games plus a very popular zip wire. A wood burning hot tub is a novelty for adults to use and there are numerous tvs throughout the property, The owner, David, couldn't be more helpful. There are always things that can go wrong in a property of this size in fact his checklist of things to do before a family arrives must be enormous. David was available all of the time should we need him and checked during the week that we had everything we needed. When there were things we asked for they were provided. There are loads of things to do in the area with Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham all just over an hour away but to be honest children don't want to leave.(Ours were crying at the end). We will be definitely looking to go back in the future.
“We are a family of 2 Grandparents, 4 parents and 4 children and were celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary at Squirrel Barn.”
It was the perfect place for us to meet up and we all had a very enjoyable stay. The garden had just about everything we could imagine from a hot tub to a children's pool and sand pit. Our son and son in law took the children out on the tandem for rides, we played darts, golf, basket ball, so many things and there was even a zip wire which the children loved. We were lucky enough to have mostly dry days having arrived in pouring rain but there would have been plenty for us to do if it had remained wet as there are plenty of board games, dvds to watch and books to read. It was lovely after a longish journey to have everything we needed to begin our stay - we particularly enjoyed the freshly laid eggs. We had a meal at the Green Man Pub which was a few minutes walk away and excellent. We can highly recommend Squirrel Barn. Thank you David
“David, our host, was extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming.”
Nothing was too much trouble, and we were able to contact him at any time.
“We really enjoyed the barn, we felt really safe and relaxed, hot tub was definitely hot!”
Great bbq. David and Sophie were very helpful and speedy response to any requests. It really was outstanding service. Only downside which unfortunately is a biggie is that we found the beds very uncomfortable but having said that some of us are on the larger side so other families/ groups may not have the same problem, beds are always hard to get right. I thought I had left a Fitbit charger behind and contacted David who was still impressively helpful even though our holiday was over. So to sum up I would and already have recommended Squirrel Barn to my friends who looking at arranging a get together next year. PS our French Bulldog woofing loved it!
“Squirrel Barn Is Amazing!”
One word "Amazing!" Ideal for family groups as there was so much to do for all ages. We stayed as a family with children ranging from 6 to 14 and we all enjoyed every second. Outside is like a children's paradise with a zip wire, sandpit, bouncy castle and more toys than they could imagine. The hot tub was a bonus for us adults in the evening and we had many laughs sitting around the fire pit. Inside the barn is beautiful! Spacious, clean and very well equipped with everything we needed, even on our 1 rainy day the children still had plenty indoors to keep them occupied. David the host was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We had fun and have definitely created memories to last a lifetime, see you next year when we will definitely be returning!
“Smart, clean and stylish event spot”
We hired Squirrel Barn for an event and were very impressed by the quality of the facilities, cleanliness of the accommodation and professionalism of the host. Our event included children and adults during the day and evening. The children’s activities were perfect to keep them happy and entertained with a garden of toys, sandpit and rope swing. We enjoyed use of the hot tub and fire pit well into the evening, and the sound system kept the party atmosphere going. We are sure to return to Squirrel Barn for future events.
“Fantastic property and David looked after us really well”
“Had a great relaxing few days here, location lovely and a perfect stop over if visiting Alton Towers :)”
“Fantastic for kids as loads to do”
We booked this for a pretty relaxed stag weekend, and it did not disappoint! A really modern kitchen with a huge dining table. Well equipped for cooking, good showers and comfy beds. The hot tub is fantastic, and most definitely hot! Spent a good few hours in there with plenty of beers relaxing. Lots of parking, zip wire that looks pretty tame but is a damn good addition and way faster than you think. David the owner was incredibly helpful and welcoming, plenty of info on the initial tour. Couldn’t do enough to help and explain, was really good. Will be staying again!
We stayed here for a 40th birthday party for our friend. A group of 12 girls. We loved it! David was so helpful and very friendly. I even left my coat there and he’s posting it back to me free of charge. Ideal for adults and families. Lots to do for everyone. Caters for kids very well. David was so helpful with us decorating the kitchen for our friend. He provided us with Blu-tack and cellotape which we forgot! Lovely cosy place. Everything was very clean and tidy. Bedrooms are lovely. Beauitful surroundings. Lots of games for adults to play there too. We had cereal , eggs, bread, milk, tea and sugar all provided which I thought was great. We only stayed one night but we will definitely be returning . Thanks again David!!
“Brilliant place to stay especially with young children.”
So many toys and so secure they can happily play outside knowing they can't run off anywhere.
“Myself and all the family had a lovely weekend away here, the barn as everything you could possibly need and if there is something you require David is always happy to pop round with it.”
The kids loved it with all the indoor and outdoor toys to play with, would love to see what it’s like in summer so we could make full use of the garden and all it’s facilities as we went in January. There is also a town 10 minute drive away that we also visited. Overall lovely weekend away and would defo go again! :-)
“For a large family gathering this property was ideal, especially with four dogs!”
There was everything we needed and the grandchildren were most impressed with the number of TVs.
“Fantastic place, superb host”
We stayed overnight at Squirrel Barn for a party and it was everything we hoped for a more. The host David went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and was very kind and helpful. It is clean and stylish, full of mod cons and gadgets, and loads of entertainment for the children. The hot tub was a big hit with everyone, the kids during the day and the adults in the evening. I absolutely recommend Squirrel Barn for events or holidays.
“Fantastic setting and an abundance of equipment for adults and children alike.”
Friendly and helpful host.
“I recently booked Squirel Barn for a hen weekend, We had a fantastic time, really clean and David the owner was fab, anything we asked was never too much trouble.”
Squirel barn is a lovely place that is very cosy and well kept. Will definitely be going back
Especially if you have kids. Very well thought out. Host David was phenomenal you couldn’t ask for better, very attentive and accommodating.
This is Our 2nd stay @ the barn we really like the homely feel it has everything you would need for a Family holiday we went along with Our Grandchildren + Our children+ followed by Great grandma we especially enjoyed being out in the garden which is fully equipped for Fun not forgetting the Steamy Hot Tub ! that was enjoyed by all. The layout of Squirrel Barn is great fun for children, we found plenty to do even though it was January and very cold the barn was very cosy with family huddled together having fun I would recommend this hide away. Thank you David .........The Staffords
“Squirrel Barn is fantastic.”
Squirrel Barn is a fantastic beautiful holiday cottage. Ideal for families, parties, children and pets. The facilities are beyond imagination. The garden is full of child and adult games, a wood fired hot tub, fire pit, large BBQ. Darts, basket ball, bowls, boules, badminton, swings, slide, sand pit... The kitchen is full of equipment, even a chocolate fountain, garlic press, pestle and mortar, multiple types of oven...Every bedroom has digital TV, fire stick, blue tooth speaker. Huge family TV downstairs with surround sound system. Extensive outside lights, lit patio, seating, a truly amazing atmosphere. The property manager is always available for any problem, however small, and supplies endless free range eggs from the chickens! We had a wonderful family get together. Would recommend to anyone.
Just home from a week here. Barn is excellent. There is literally everything provided. Its a home from home. Tons of towels, Amazon sticks and tv in every room. Wi-Fi works great. Garden is brilliant the kids really enjoyed all the toys and basketball stand / darts etc. Hot tub and paddling pool were great too as warm water could be fed straight into them. Fresh eggs milk bread orange juice etc on arrival is a nice touch. Owner David is happy to help with anything. We stayed as a family of 6 but can see how barn is usable for hen nights etc as well. Supermarket within a 4 mile drive and we visited alton towers plus water park and cadbury world as days out. The barn is secluded enough for privacy but easy enough to drive to get the other areas. Spacious and comfortable. Thanks for a lovely week :)
“The funnest holiday cottage ever!”
We had a BRILLIANT holiday and we're all still raving about it. This is the perfect holiday cottage for having a party (though I think all the toys would also make it good for kids too). The hot tub is utterly divine: we lounged in that tub, supping fizzy beverages, laughing, and listening to 80s music until unholy hours on both nights. The gate into Squirrel Barn is fairy-tale esc: it's vast, wooden and has a great big handle like you're entering a castle. Then there's loads of parking; every kitchen utensil you could need; loads of fridge space; clean and well-designed rooms; and let's not forget an awesome fire in the middle of the garden that was actually lit for us on arrival so we could huddle round that and feel like excitable kids at bonfire night! Overall I couldn't recommend this place enough: thank you David the owner for providing a cracking stay! (plus, the pub down the road serves delish food and is perfect after a chilly afternoon walk in the countryside)
We are currently on our last day at Squirrel Barn and it's amazing! We have everything we need for us and our small children. The facilities are fantastic and David is so helpful. He dealt with a couple of queries so quickly and efficiently. We have been given fresh eggs daily and they are delicious! We had a welcome pack on arrival which was a lovely touch (bread, milk etc) We really don't want to leave tomorrow! Can't recommend it enough and can't wait to come back!

Seven of us in total! what a delightful place.....ticked the box for everything you could possibly want....we wished we could have stayed longer.. David the owner very pleasant and welcoming....
