  • "Perfect escape to the countryside for a week."

Could not fault it. Felt like home away from home from the moment we arrived. The full fridge on arrival was amazing. We loved seeing the lambs and chickens just outside the house. Plenty to do within the area with Alton Towers, numerous National Trust places and the peak district all within a short drive. Overall very highly reccomended. 5 stars isn't enough!

Thank you so much for the lovely review. We hope to see you all again soon! Property Owner

  • "When we arrived the owner was very friendly and welcoming and The Granary gave you a big hug as you entered."

The owner had kindly filled the cupboards and fridge with food for us, which was lovely. When we met the rest of the family, they were also so friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The Granary was clean, comfortable and warm and was in a lovely place with extensive views. Everything you needed was provided for from kitchen utensils to linen and towels which was great. We would like to say “Thank you” to Janet, Cynthia and all the family and feel that we have made some lovely friends. We would definitely recommend The Granary to anyone who wants a lovely, restful holiday with owners who really make you feel at home. Thanks again

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. We have really enjoyed playing host while you have stayed and will hopefully be able to keep in touch with all the knitting ideas! So glad you were able to see the beginning of lambing season too! Property Owner

It’s a lovely cosy warm house with everything you need. The hosts are lovely but not interfering - we had particularly bad weather whilst I was there and they dropped me a message to warn me that the power may go out and where the torches were, when it snowed they gave advice of where to be careful but that I’d still be able to get to work, offered logs for the fire when it got cold. It was brilliant to be able to feel at home whilst working away. Id recommend the cottage to anybody!

Dear Holly. Thank you for such wonderful feedback. It really was a pleasure to have you even if the weather was so awful! Good luck with the future! Property Owner

It was just as comfy and welcoming as we remembered from our first visit. Having some food in the freezer, fridge and cupboard to get the week started is such a thoughtful touch, so that your guests don’t have to go off to the supermarket or arrange a delivery straight after a long journey. There are plenty of great places to visit and explore in the area and we would love to come back to see what else we can discover.

We really didn't need to take anything with us food wise. The only thing we were disappointed with and its no fault of the owners but the cottage was situated where there was nowhere to walk from it as the roads were narrow and there were no footpaths anywhere near.[That we could find] Just a small point for anyone who likes walking.

Janet and Cynthia are really welcoming and the cottage is beautiful. All thr little touches make it the best cottage we have ever stayed in by a margin. Location is very convenient for the Potteries and Cheshire, only 5 mins from a supermarket but nicely isolated on the moors. WiFi is now pretty good now, better than previous, enough to stream. We also had a meal with friends at the pub down the road which was very good if you don't want to cook. Look forward to returning.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments it was so good to welcome you back on your travels! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the WiFi remains stable from now onwards, it would just be lovely if it was a bit faster! Hope to see you again in the future Property Owner

Both location and description of the property suited our needs. The cottage is high up in the hills and when weather permits allows fantastic views over superb countryside. On arrival we were warmly met by Janet who gave us all the information we needed for our stay, It's always nice to meet the owners face to face. We have holidayed with Sykes over the years and most owners have left a welcome pack on arrival. On reading the reviews I was amazed on the comprehensive welcome pack awaiting us. The cottage itself was spotless, comfy beds and everything we needed for our stay. The log burner was a bonus, we had to light it twice as it was rude not to. We really didn't need to as the heating system was excellent. Found a real quirky pub..... The Black Lion at Butterton. Rudyard Lake is well worth a visit. Go to Tissington village, have a look around the quaint shop, the Hall.....what a fabulous piece of history. Trentham gardens for some retail therapy. For you train spotters there is the Churnet Valley heritage line but check to see operational days. Jodrell Bank is visible from the grounds of the property. We have booked for next year!!!!!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, it's great to hear of new places to visit as we don't get the chance to try them all! See you next year Property Owner
