  • "A lovely cosy, homely, comfortable cottage."

Lots of thoughtful ‘extras’ provided - welcome milk and wine, doggie treats & bags, a selection of books and dvds, a very good information file, Lots of tasteful touches including lovely pictures coordinated with the furniture and stylish ornaments creating a lived in feeling and encouraging relaxation.

Thank you both so much for such a lovely review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and also that you took time to notice and comment on the things we hoped would make a great guest experience. The village has a new coffee shop/ cafe opening this must return to try it at some point! Property Owner

  • "A very well thought out holiday home in a lovely village."

Immaculately clean, well equipped and a true home from home. The beds and linen are high quality and very comfortable, with good quality furniture throughout. We stayed for ten nights and loved Nutwood and hope to return. The communication with the owner were very informative, helpful and prompt. Many thanks for letting us share this special place.

Thank you SO much for your kind words. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and enjoyed the surrounding area. Your feedback is very reassuring - thank you! Property Owner

  • "Wonderful three day Christmas stay in this lovely little cottage, welcome pack of wine and cakes much appreciated and milk in fridge."

Cosy little living room, central heating and coal effect fire. Decent size tv but no Netflix or Sky, I'm 70yrs old and not a techno, but choice of films and live sport would of been nice especially on winter nights. Kitchen well stocked with cutlery, pots, pans etc but hardly any work top space. Outside space to sit and dine in back yard. Shower room/toilet downstairs, small shower but adequate. Steep stairs upto bedrooms, nice large front bedroom and smaller back bedroom both very clean with gorgeous bedding and very comfortable bed. Parking outside property troublesome at times, but free car park across the road. Cottage Virtually in centre of village on a busy road, shop, chippy, pub close by. Wouldn't recommend more than two adults with maybe one child, both me and my partner found it very cosy with even a Christmas tree to greet us !!

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry that you were expecting subscription TV; this is surprising as it's is not mentioned in any of the details for Nutwood Cottage. A DVD player and selection of DVD's are listed in the description and there for guests to use. Unfortunately, the cost of fast broadband and subscription TV is not something we can presently accommodate in the pricing of the accommodation. The current broadband is not fast enough to stream movies etc. The cost of gas and electricity has more than doubled, but our prices have not changed- even over the winter period. I also wish to respond to your other comments, as below: Parking is not usually a problem, the date and time of your arrival (Christmas Eve) was the busiest day of the year in the village and everywhere was busy both with visiting relatives and shoppers/ hairdressers etc. Nutwood Cottage is not situated on the main road, it is on a side road, which is one of the oldest lanes in the village, benefitting from two carparks directly opposite and the riverside gardens beyond. The maximum occupancy for Nutwood is three guests, as specified on the details and property description. Again, the pricing of the accommodation reflects the occupancy. I have passed your kind comment about the cleanliness of the accommodation to our housekeeper, who works very hard to ensure that guests enjoy their stay in clean and comfortable surroundings. We have endeavoured to supply high quality items of furniture, bedding and equipment and again, we thank you for your kind words of appreciation and take your feedback very seriously. Property Owner

Beautiful cottage, very cosy, served us well after a long day/night at Alton Towers for the fireworks. Welcoming friendly hosts. Would definitely stay here again.

  • "Gorgeous, characterful, well loved cottage with kind, generous hosts."

Great communication re key collection, smooth, safe check in into a beautiful place where the lights and fire had been turned on to welcome us. The moment we stepped in, we were wowed, our daughter immediately said she wanted to "come back here soon". Beautiful, tastefully decorated rooms, great attention to detail, everything has been thought of. Lovely pressies for all of us, including the dog. Beautiful bedrooms with comfortable beds and nice beddings and throws, it made such a difference having the child's bedroom vs other places where the third guest sleeps on the living room sofa. Our nearly teenage daughter so loved her beautiful little room and having her own space. There were a few books and DVDs in the living room, a folder with lots of useful info re places to eat, visit and walks as well as the cottage and its appliances. The small kitchen was well equipped, the shower and heating worked well, we had all the home comforts. During the day it was great to have the toilet / shower room downstairs, a bit harder during the night down tall, steep, creaky steps but just a small inconvenience considering. The courtyard was so colourful and beautiful, I can only imagine what it's like on a summer evening. Lovely riverside garden with painted walls just opposite the cottage, we had the run of it to ourselves, perfect for late night / early morning doggie walks. So much to do further afield - check the red folder. Easy to catch buses into nearby Cheadle (check the "Cake and Gelato Shop" for gorgeous desserts and the best espresso this side of Italy) and Uttoxeter ("Fuel" is a great dog friendly cafe). Thank you for a wonderful week!

Bev the owner was great throughout our stay. Very clean and everything you could possibly need. Lovey days out just a short drive away, locally you have plenty of family/dog friendly pubs , Fish and Chips, Chinese takeaway, supermarket, petrol station, park just over the road that my daughter loved and walks over the fields for the dog.
