The property

This unique, stone-built detached cottage is beautifully furnished throughout and is set at the entrance to the stunning Combermere Abbey estate sited on the borders of Shropshire and Cheshire between the market towns of Nantwich and Whitchurch.

This charming gothic gatehouse, built in the 1830’s, was designed by Morrison of Ireland, and is ideal for friends or couples to enjoy a relaxing break together in a tranquil setting.

The cottage provides cosy, luxurious accommodation.

Head into the well-equipped kitchen and through to the cosy sitting room with lovely woodburning stove and comfortable sofas and from there to the elegant dining room.

This cottage exudes quality and style throughout.

The double bedroom with sumptuous headboard and luxurious fur throw has its own wet room, whilst the first floor twin bedroom has a well-appointed en-suite bathroom.

The cottage is set in private enclosed gardens with its own damson orchard and surrounded by beautiful trees.

The large enclosed lawned garden is complemented by a large terrace with comfortable seating to make the most of sunny days.

The fascinating nearby market town of Whitchurch and Nantwich offers a wealth of independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and is just 20 miles from Shrewsbury, Chester and Wrexham making this an ideal spot for touring Shropshire, Cheshire and Wales.

Enjoy the beautiful countryside cycling or walking on any number of routes, take a stroll along the Llangollen Canal or indulge in a day’s retail therapy in delightful historic Chester.

There is plenty to see and do and with so many historic houses, lovely gardens and wildlife sites all within a 20 mile radius, you will be spoilt for choice.

At the end of an adventure filled day, Stone Lodge awaits with a luxuriously warm welcome.

Known as Mediolanum in Roman times, today this delightful market town has many splendid buildings, from Medieval, Tudor and Georgian times, all dominated by St. Alkmund’s Church. Internationally renowned for its clock production dating back to the 1650s, Whitchurch is known as "the Home of Tower Clocks". There are many excellent shops, pubs and restaurants in the town which is perfectly placed for touring all of Shropshire, North Wales and Cheshire. Close by are attractions such as Ellesmere with its beautiful lakes, a variety of National Trust mansions and gardens, Chester’s wonderful shops and zoo, Hawkstone Follies, the Ironbridge Gorge museums and lovely Shrewsbury with its medieval architecture and riverside walks.
