  • "Spotlessly clean quiet and comfy , close ( 10 min walk) to the beautiful town centre and a bus every 30 mins if you dont fancy the walk."

Loads to see in town and nearby. Very kind host providing a starter pack of tea cake and milk . 100% recommend both the house and Shrewsbury

  • "Great cottage withing walking distance of the town centre (I'm 55 and have a dodgy knee)."

Would book again but in fact I don't think I can. For a very good reason this place is booked solid for the next 12 months. I just hope I can find a place as good as this one. Great welcome basket by the way. Can not fault.

The owner had certainly gone the extra mile to make sure everything we might require was available, even extras in case we ran out during our 2 week stay. Thoughtful welcome pack was very much appreciated.

  • "Very comfortable stay, stairs were a challenge expecially if you need the toilet at night."

Hi Ann Thank you for your recent review, and very pleased you had a comfortable stay. As regards the stairs, this is, of course, a late Victorian property and, inevitably, the stairs are steeper than more recent ones. The stair rail was extended, at my instigation, to the bottom of the stairs before any letting was started and can safely be used when going up or coming down. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage."

Very comfortable & cosy. Wasn’t expecting such a long ally way path to it but it wasn’t a problem for us & easy to park. Great communication with owner. Would definitely recommend to others. Perfect location for walking into Shrewsbury & nice to leave the car behind. Good base for exploring Shropshire.

  • "An immaculate and cosy cottage in a peaceful neighbourhood of the city."

Nearby a large Sainsbury's store and petrol station. One mile of easy walking to the city centre. A generous welcome pack to start our holiday. The owners provided lots of information on things to do in the nearby. The kitchen is well-stocked with a dishwasher and all the usual appliances. Spacious downstairs bathroom with large shower, toilet and sink. There is no bathroom on the second floor. Although we didn't mind, we were cautious about the steep steps at night. The bannister was very useful and with the light on. Netflix and other apps are available on the smart TV in the cosy living area with modern furniture. Lovely, private back garden that receives afternoon and early evening sun. Two bedrooms upstairs, one double and one with two twin beds. We slept like logs on the comfy double bed mattress. We have no complaints about the efforts the owners have made to ensure that we had a good stay. We will undoubtedly come back.

Hi Chris. Thankyou for your kind feedback, and very pleased you had such a great time staying with us. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely little house, all you could need."

Only criticism the stairs are very steep may be a problem if you are old or have mobility issues. Would be more than happy to go back.

Hi Angela, thank you for your recent review, and I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. As regards the stairs at the property, the cottage does, of course, date back to late-Victorian times and, as with a lot of similar properties from that period, the stairs do tend to be steeper than nowadays. For that reason, before we started letting the property for holiday guests, and with their safety in mind, I arranged for the handrail to be extended so as it led to the foot of the stairs. The handrail can be fully used as an aid when either going up or coming down the stairs. Property Owner

  • "We stayed at 3 Brook Gardens in July 2022."

The house is small and cosy but very comfortable, clean, quiet and well equipped. We appreciated the welcome pack, the lovely pink carnations, all the tourist information leaflets and being able to sit in the back garden in the warm weather. The house is ideally located, being only a short walk from the town centre. The directions to Brook Street were very good but we then struggled to find Brook Gardens. I think it would help if you mentioned that the path leading to the house is between numbers 17 and 18 Brook Street. The only slight disadvantage of the house is that the bathroom is on the ground floor and that the stairs are quite steep with a curve at the bottom, a bit tricky if you have some mobility issues and have to go up and down them in the night. Nevertheless, we had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Hi Anne thank you for your recent review and I am very pleased that you had such a great stay at the cottage. As regards the directions provided to all guests to reach the property, I have had a discussion with Sykes. I am assured by them that in their confirmation e-mail sent to all our guests it states that the entrance to Brook Gardens is located between 17 and 18 Brook Street. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at 3 Brook Gardens."

The property was clean and really comfortable. Slept so well in the really comfortable bed. No problem with parking at all. And approx 20 minute walk into Shrewsbury. The welcome pack was very welcome and a lovely surprise. My only criticism would be that there are no instructions advising guests that the central heating is controlled by a thermostat which is above the stairs. The thermostat was set to around 15 degrees which meant the cottage was cold on arrival and despite "boosting" the heating as advised in the instructions it would not stay on and it kept going off. After a lot of wasted time we spotted the thermostat and realised this was the problem. Very glad we did as it was a very cold weekend and we needed the heating on. We would certainly recommend this property.

Hello Kenneth. Many thanks for your feedback and I am very pleased that you had a great stay at the property. Thank you also for your comments about the thermostat and I am sorry for any inconvenience you were put to. As a result of your comments I will ensure all future guests are made specifically aware of this point. Rob Property Owner

  • "Would not like to try to find this location in the dark!"

The picture is misleading in that it is picture of the back of the house and bears no resemblance to the front. The premises were pristine and evidently great thought had been put into setting up the let. Everything had been provided to ensure a seamless stay. The welcoming provisions were great.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the property, and we are very pleased that you had an enjoyable stay. Further, in view of your other observation, I have amended the directions to the property with Sykes to advise that the private footpath leads to the rear of the property and not the front.
