  • "Post Office Cottage is an ideal base for exploring the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales."

A delightful little cottage, clean, comfortable, warm and cosy in a quiet, pretty village with lovely surrounding countryside. Well equipped with up to-date facilities. The owner Steve was very welcoming and helpful. The Traveller's Rest Pub next door was an added bonus with good , reasonable priced food and we had no issue with noise or or customer traffic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very well equipped and comfortable quality furniture. The beds are extremely comfy, and there is plenty of storage. We enjoy walking and there are many walks from the door eg. Stanley reservoir and canal walks. The pub next door is a gem with Steve the perfect host, friendly staff and excellent food.

The owner made us very welcome, with complimentary essential food supplies too. He is the owner of the lovely village pub next door. Their meals are delicious, and they will even deliver a cooked meal round to the cottage if required. The location is quiet in lovely surroundings, and very near to The Potteries and to Leek. Can thoroughly recommend this cottage.

  • "The cottage was clean, well maintained and had high quality fixtures and fittings."

A welcome pack containing bread, cereal, biscuits, milk and fruit juice had been provided as well as tea and coffee and toiletries. There was a small terraced garden and parking either in the pub car park or outside the cottage. The owners pub was next door and we were able to book a table for the day of our arrival. The menu provided a variety of pub grub and the staff were efficient and friendly. All covid precautions had been put in place. Impressive scenery was in the doorstep as well as interesting towns including Buxton and Bakewell, We really enjoyed our stay.

Steve who owns the cottage and also the Travellers Rest Public house, which is literally next door but one, made sure we had all that was needed and was very attentive in ensuring each time we met him that all was okay. The meals at the Travellers Rest were also excellent and the staff therein very friendly and helpful. There are also some lovely walks in and around the area. Thank you to Steve and all his staff.

All you need is provided for at the cottage along with some extras, always a nice touch. It is very clean and well equipped should you want to cook, though the pub next door serves beautiful meals, and very good selection of drinks all at very reasonable prices. Steve the owner of both cottages and pub is extremely welcoming and on hand if necessary. We are planning to return soon.

  • "It was a pretty cottage, with lots of period charm, furniture in the lounge, and beds are very comfortable."

Modern large pretty kitchen. But limited dishes which we found a problem as we were visiting family in the area, and when we brought them back for a meal, I had to borrow dishes and cutlary, as we only had four of everything, apart from plenty of drinking glasses. The single room is also small and dark due to the small windows, I appreciate that due to the age of the property nothing can be done about this. Having the owners very nice pub\ restaurant next door was a great bonus, both for the good food which they will deliver to the cottage if required, and locked safe car park at night. In all we had a lovely time it's a clean pretty period cottage, with friendly staff and we would be happy to recommend it. We will visit again in the future no doubt.

Having milk, bread, cheese etc there so that we didn’t need to go food shopping immediately, knowing that if we had any questions or issues there were friendly staff on hand. That made it special. The booking process was simple and communication from Sykes was good. The cottage was cosy, traditional but with all mod cons, a lovely comfortable bed and a power shower, good WiFi too. It really was a home from home! My partner and I both agreed that we would more than likely return again in the future.
