  • "We had a wonderful time At Staffordshire Knot Cottage."

It is in a great location close to pubs and walking trails. If you want to got to Alton Towers it is very close. The property is really spacious and there is every convenience you could need. It has a slightly unusual layout with the twin room being off the master bathroom but it is very easy to manage that as there is also a loo downstairs. We would happily book again and recommend it to friends.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We love the house and we are pleased that you had such a good time. Property Owner

  • "This is a fantastic property - huge!"

Plenty of space for everyone and everything required thought of and in the property for you to enjoy. Parking was never an issue as either outside of property or just down the street. Pubs close by were lovely. No noise in property from anything outside as all well insulated. Only slight issue for us was not realising that final bedroom Only had the bathroom as a through-door so did mean we meant some good timing to ensure everyone could move about freely. Wouldn't stop us rebooting just mindful how we sorted ourselves as a group.

  • "The cottage was very beautful."

It was bigger than it looked in the pictures. It was also in a lovely area. I was very dissapointed though to find that in the games room the games did not work. The cue for the pool table had no end on it so we couldnt use it. The other games in the room all had bits missing so this room couldnt be used at all. This was the main reason we choose this property as we wanted a games room. Also the furniture outside was very dirty so i spent the first day cleaning everything. I also got an email after we left saying the sheets and table cloth were left dirty, I did not realise we were meant to clean them before we left which seemed unusual. If the games room had been working and it was cleaned outside it would have been a lovely place to stay. The location was perfect.

Firstly, apologies about the games. When items are broken or lost and we aren't told it is sometimes difficult to know about them. Regarding cleaning, guests are not expected to do washing but, as you would at home, if something is dropped and it might stain, it is normal to expect the guests to try and remove the dirt before it stains. After extensive cleaning we managed to clean the tablecloth, sheet and matress protector but one pillowcase is ruined and the carpet isn't perfect. Property Owner

The property

Nestled in the rural village of Alton near the Peak District National Park, sits this Grade II listed cottage, Staffordshire Knot Cottage.

This stone-fronted cottage was built in the 1660s and retains much of its character with its original beams, woodburning stove and brickwork.

Bring along your family and pooch to this pet-friendly dwelling, which is positioned close to Alton Towers and hosts a games room to keep you entertained.

Step inside to discover the entrance hallway, where to your left you will find the dining room, hosting a table for six.

Relax and unwind in the sitting room; here you can choose between a selection of books or the Smart TV, as the woodburning stove crackles before you.

Stepping through the property, locate the kitchen, with everything you need for a self-catered stay with an electric and hob to rustle up heart-warming meals.

The young ones can escape the adults and head to the games room, where a small pool table, table football and Smart TV with a PlayStation is certain to keep them busy.

Meanwhile, the adults can unwind out on the rear patio and savour a glass of wine as they recount the day’s events.

As the evening cools, retire inside and climb upstairs to pick your bedroom, with a spacious super-king-size, a double and a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room.

The twin bedroom is access via the family bathroom, the ideal place to relax your muscles after an action-packed day, with its deep tub and walk-in shower.

In the morning, head out on foot to explore the quaint village of Alton, home to rustic pubs serving local ales and meals, as well as a Post Office to stock up on the essentials.

Jump in the car and venture to Alton Towers for thrilling rides, see adorable animals at the Peak Wildlife Park or embark on a hike around Dimmingsdale Valley & Furnace Forest Walks.

Take advantage of the close proximity to the Peak district National Park, where you can roam the unspoilt landscape either on foot or bike; be sure to visit the stately home of Chatsworth House to immerse yourself in the past!
