“The Beeches was a great home away from home for a week and we really looked forward to returning to the cottage after a day exploring the Derbyshire Dales.”
The cottage was equipped to a high standard in terms of equipment and just some of the small touches made by Jane (such as a box of Maltesers on arrival) just added to the overall impression. The Beeches felt lived in and a home and on a couple of days when the weather was at its worst we were quite happy as a family of 4 watching TV, reading or just relaxing. whilst our SatNAV didn't take us to the precise location, the detailed description and directions got us safely there. ...

“Cottage was very comfortable well furnished and kitchen equipment good.”
Nice bedrooms with good storage for clothes etc and comfortable beds. Only recommendation we would make is that the garden furniture is replaced at sometime it was looking a bit jaded but believe that the garden is a work in progress. Dog friendly garden fully enclosed we enjoyed our stay
“This cottage is fantastic with great views.”
The downstairs bedrooms are really useful for people less mobile but the downstairs bathroom has a shower inside the bath and getting leg over to step into bath to stand under shower can prove difficult with people less mobile. Also it states it sleeps 6, which it does, but there are only enough seats for 4, in the living room. One chair and one 3 seated sofa.
“On arrival at the cottage In the information pack it stated that dogs had to be restricted to the kitchen or porch.”
This was NEVER made clear on Sykes website when making a booking, if it had been we would not have booked this cottage. If there are any restrictions regarding dogs in any holiday cottages this should always be made totally clear before making a booking.
“A lovely, comfortable cottage in a peaceful location.”
Very tastefully furnished and well equipped.
“We spent a fantastic week at the Beeches.”
Lovely cottage with a nice welcome pack to greet us (wine & biscuits). Cottage is near to Matlock & Bakewell and a great base for walking. Also dog friendly (the enclosed garden was a bonus). The owner was very helpful when we had a few queries. Hope to return soon.
“In response to a water problem both Sykes and the owner of the property went beyond expectations to help”
“It was a very ,very nice cottage well equipped and warm'.”
The owners kindly left flowers chocolates and a bottle of wine on arrival. We will be booking again this year we hope.

“A really comfortable, homely and well equipped cottage.”
Everything we needed for a relaxing break in the Peaks.
Everything was fine ,a very relaxing holiday set in a good position for getting to most of the usual places to go for pottering and exercise .
“A beautiful cottage with pretty views.”
“Fantastic cottage, lovely area, lots of great walks.”
Jane was very helpful with various questions we asked. Highly reccommend
“What a relaxing weekend away!”
This is a lovely property in a very peaceful and scenic location, and it is a great base for exploring the Peak District. The property was immaculately clean, and is clearly well looked after by the owners. The kitchen was very well equipped, the beds were all really comfy, and the log-burner was most welcomed after a day out exploring in autumnal weather. Also, the wine, flowers, biscuits and milk on arrival were a nice touch, as well as the logs supplied.
“The holiday let was more of a beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean private home.”
...everything you could possibly need was there, including a stunning rocking horse that our three year old granddaughter loved to bits! It was our 50th wedding anniversary....the owners sent us a card. The position for exploring the peak district was "spot on"...There are too many good things to mention...you should stay there to find out!
“Excellent cottage with good links too all the surrounding towns.”
We had the dog with us and the enclosed garden was perfect. The wine and chocolates on arrival were a nice touch as were the flowers. The cottage has a real home from home feel about it. Would definitely consider booking again.
“Lovely cottage set on its own in the countryside, very well equipped everything looked "as new" with plenty of space for 4 adults.”
Very comfortable lounge, pleasant dining area, comfortable beds and garden a sheltered sun trap in the evening. Lots to do and great places to eat within a few miles.
“Beautiful comfortable well appointed cottage -quiet and relaxing”
The three bedroom cottage was ver well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable relaxing holiday. It was very clean and tastefully decorated with wifi and parking for three cars. The owner had excellent taste which was reflected in the nice finishing touches in every room. Many Peak District attractions were within a short drive. The owner provide a welcome pack with chocolates, milk, tea and wine. This was one of the best holiday cottages we had stayed in recently and all our party thoroughly enjoyed their holiday.
“The cottage was very clean and tastefully decorated and appointed.”
It was warm and comfortable with good parking facilities. The enclosed garden was a great advantage if you have children or pets. A very pleasant relaxing holiday was had by all. The location is very good so the Peak District attractions are just a short drive away.
“The cottage was beautifully appointed and surrounded by lovely countryside.”
Although rather remote, there were also places of interest within 6 -10 miles, as well as many a little further afield.
“Fabulous place, such comfy beds with nice bedlinen.”
Really well equipped kitchen, with bottle of wine, chocolates and tea and coffee with milk in the fridge on arrival. Had an issue with the cooker ( element had gone) and the owner, Jane could not have been more helpful in getting it fixed. Great supply of books and games for days when you want to stay close to home. Lovely garden area with three areas to sit with tables, birdsong all around, so very relaxing. Bonus is being able to take our dogs. Will definitely return
“The property is in a Wonderful position to take advantage of the local walks.”
The cottage itself is very comfortable and warm with everything you need and the owner is very helpful and obliging. We will hopefully return sometime in the future and will most certainly try and book up the Beeches again.
