  • "Our second visit to Nook Farm Holiday Cottage."

Such a lovely, comfortable, spacious, practical, warm traditional house, bursting with homeliness. The owners live next door and go over the top to add little touches to make your stay special and make the place spotlessly clean and provide a lot of things you need. In my last review I didn't really get to mention much about the area, as it was winter, but this Spring we did some walking and explored the countryside and walked around the reservoirs and on some of the local trails, and it is absolutely stunning! The area is a hidden gem and there are some fabulous walks and far reaching views without even using the car! If you want to drive there are many popular tourist spots not far away, and lovely towns and villages such as Bradfield, Holmfirth, Castleton and Bakewell. Within walking distance there is a pub, and there are supermarkets and shops within walking distance or a few minutes in the car. I've loved staying here and would love to return again.

We thank you again for your comments. We are so pleased you managed to get out and about, down in the valley and sourrounding area. Yes we have a lot to explore. Property Owner

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay at Nook Farm Cottage and it felt like home, in fact, I had to remind myself I was not at home as it was so relaxing."

The peace and quiet was lovely. The house is ideally situated in beautiful countryside, yet a short drive from shops and supermarkets, and walking distance to the village of Bolsterstone with a church and pub. If you want beautiful countryside and hiking, it is on your doorstep along with places of interest to visit, or the City of Sheffield and the Meadow Hall Retail Park are accessible if you want world class shopping. The house has spacious rooms and is clean and warm and well maintained with a well equipped kitchen. There is lots of information provided about the area and books and games to keep you entertained. The furnishings and bedding were very comfortable. Paul and Helen, the hosts, were available should you need any help and were very concerned that everything was perfect for our stay. There were nice touches like milk in the fridge, wine and biscuits and many other things you use in the the home were already there. Christmas decorations were up and it made it really special. There are a couple of steps to remember about as described in the information with a step down into the bathroom but it is the character of the house. I would recommend Nook Farm Cottage and hope to return.

We thank you for your amazing comments, so glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

What a great cottage everything we needed was in the cottage we had a great week The owners were very helpful and extremely welcoming all we needed The only thing I would say ( sorry ) but the Photo on the website was a bit misleading as you had to go down the path to see that view which is shown That's why we picked the cottage for the view from the cottage It's a minor detail though thanks again to Paul and Helen

We are pleased you had a great week with weather to match. The opening photo is intended to show the location of the cottage. We apologise if this missled you, which we had no intention of doing. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "This is a wonderful place to stay for a short break."

The cottage is very cosy and very well maintained. The surrounding area, forest, the dam etc. are all excellent places to day hikes. The owners live on site next doors and were very friendly. For city dwellers this is a DREAM SHORT BREAK.

  • "We were the first visitors."

Helen had thought of everything we might need, and the cottage was fabulous. We knew the area having lived there a long time ago. Most people will not know how beautiful it is, nestling in the foothills of the Pennines, and within easy reach of the lovely city of Sheffield and the Peak District. Off the usual tourist trail, but well worth a visit.

Thank you for your kind remarks. We are pleased you enjoyed your holiday. Property Owner
