  • "Lovely house and pool."

Pool was enjoyed daily by all of the family. House is getting a little tired, front patio door would not lock in the sun, few points that can be easily improved. Couple of shelves missing in fridge No protectors on mattresses or pillows, would be more hygienic and extend the life of the bedding. Could do with an airing line, especially for the swimming costumes, although washing and drying was available, this would be more eco.

  • "The property was lovely, but some things are getting old, there is a induction hob but we could only find 2 pans that could be used, the cutlery and crockery was dirty and we had to wash it, only 6 dinner plates."

The twin bedroom carpet was dirty and under the bed was quite a lot of sweet wrappers and rubbish, the bottom sheets in 3 bedrooms looked like they hadn't been changed as had hairs on them and the towels were very rough and dirty grey. We have been to quite a few houses over the years and this is the first time we have had these isses. Bev

Comfortable stay for 9 of us, plenty of room in the kitchen, dining room & lounge. The house has all the amenities that we need, it is modern, clean and in beautiful surroundings! The pool is a bonus with a lovely warm area to sit! This is the second time we have stayed & have booked again for next year! Love the place !!!!

  • "This is a beautiful house in a good location, however we also found similar issues described in other reviews."

The pool temperature needed to be a few degrees higher since it was quite cold. We also found a plate of food which had been left in the microwave accounting for the unpleasant ordour in the utility room. General cleanliness could have been better , we had to clean the fridge etc to remove food stains. The bedding was also a little threadbare and old, given the price we paid for this property we would have expected better quality bedding . A little more TLC would make a difference to what is a gorgeous looking and spacious property

  • "The house was lovely and as described."

However there were a growing number of issues. Many spotlights weren’t working. The crockery wasn’t clean and some plates still had food on, one of the bedroom door handles didn’t work properly and one of the showers flooded. to mention but a few things. Basically the house lacked a little T.LC and a decent clean. It was a lovel my house but all these things took the shine off a really lively place

  • "The house was ideal for us (great facilities and locations etc), however there were certain things which we felt were not acceptable."

The house, though superficially clean was actually dirty. We found food under the beds, the rugs were filthy, and the floor was not clean (we had a crawling baby so this was not good). The pool was not sufficiently chlorinated Some of the window blinds did not work and in most of the bedrooms they were basically inadequate (let so much lights in they might as well have not been there) The shower in the main bathroom had no grab rail so was a health hazard and had nowhere to put soap. In the shower in the other room the light was handing down out of the socket There were no recycling bins

  • "We loved our stay at Clouds Hill for my partners birthday!"

The property has been updated since the photos in terms of furtinure in lots of the sitting areas being new, had seen reviews saying things were in bad condition, we did not find this at all, it was lovely. Loved using the pool which was a little cold when you first got in but was offset by the room being boiling so didn't really matter. Few walls in here and the gym could do with a bit of TLC but didn't take away from our enjoyment at all. Kitchen had ample plates, and pans/dishes for cooking and was all easy to use - but we couldn't find any cutlery! (Not sure if we were just being daft to not find it but couldn't find it anywhere) Overall we had a brilliant time and it was a great to celebrate a special occassion with friends!

The photographs really don't do the house justice, it's just all totally amazing. The whole family had a wonderful weekend either in the swimming pool, gymnasium or just chilling out in the huge house. Would recommend Clouds Hill as the place to stay

  • "Clouds Hill is a great place to have a girls getaway to."

The house is spacious, comfortable and warm. Some of the bedrooms are rather small, but that's not really a problem as you only sleep there. It is rather echoey though, so even though the house is on 3 floors, you can hear everything throughout. The lounge and dining room are perfect and the swimming pool is fantastic. There are a few things that need mending, or replaced. A bit of extra care is required to make this a perfect venue.

Location was really good, you can walk to nearby village in only a short time. The house itself was beautiful, very spacious and inviting. There was everything you needed there (towels included) and it has a lovely sized swimming pool to. The bedrooms are all good sized. Clean and tidy. Plenty of parking space and the security of a electric gate also. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "There were very few glasses in the property and the hair dryer did not work."

The tin opener was broken and the peeler didn’t peel. However the owner sorted these issues the day we raised it with him. However one of the reasons we chose this particular property was because it had WiFi. My daughter has exams next week and needed to study. Most of the revision materials are online. The WiFi wasn’t working for over a week which meant we had to buy extra data to enable her to study. This problem should have been brought to BT’s attention prior to the day of our arrival as the owner said he had been having issues with the broadband. The photos made the property look high end but in reality it wasn’t. The beds were very uncomfortable, even with the mattress toppers. Some of the slats were broken. The sofas were very low and awkward to get out of and again uncomfortable. One end of one sofa was broken. There were cracks in the floor tiles. The showers were dirty and mouldy. Some of the windows had mould in the corners. The set up wasn’t practical in terms of layout. The dining area next to the kitchen wasn’t big enough and the dining room was not close to the kitchen. There were lots of rugs which were trip hazards. One of the bar stools in the kitchen was assembled back to front! I would be interested to know if anyone from Sykes has actually stayed in this property. If so, did they also find the layout bizarre. Having a swimming pool is great, but it really wasn’t worth the money. Do you do an inventory or check that the property meets the minimum requirements? Unfortunately it was a poor experience.

  • "Everything was better then expected."

A few sofas could do with some TLC but that’s the only thing I’d say could do with being improved. Everything was clean, the bedding smelt of washing powder and really fresh. The bathrooms were clean and everything was well stocked (had to nip out for more toilet roll) it was a fantastic stay. We loved it. More then enough seating and areas to relax. The pool was the perfect temperature (leisure pool temp) We didn’t want to leave. The pictures don’t do it justice enough, it’s beautiful. Every person staying had nothing but good things to say.

  • "The house itself it’s amazing."

The furnishings leave a lot to be desired! Some of the couches are broken leaving them very uncomfortable and the slats kept falling out of some of the beds. I think because of how lovely the house is we expected it to be furnished to a 5* level but it was more a 2/3* level. The pool was really cold and we had a 5 month out who couldn’t go in due to the temperature. We did contact the owner who came to have a look but unfortunately the temperature didn’t increase. Most of the equipment in the gym doesn’t work or is very rickety. The house needs some TLC as some of the paint was coming off the walls, floor tiles cracked/loose, bulbs out or a mixture of different bulbs in the same room (we saw this on another review and thought they were being picky but when your there it makes a difference).

The house was lovely, I was here for my 60th birthday with my children and grandkids, they loved the pool and we loved the surrounding areas, we have recommended it already to friends who loved the pictures we had taken, there is a few minor repairs that need to be done to the house, like door handles were loose, and curtain pole in the lounge loose, hoover wasn't working which my hubby stripped down and sorted it out haha, needs someone to go in and snag it, but it didn't put me off, we had a fab time and hopefully go back again , thank you

Clouds Hill allows you to live in luxury for a week. The pool was the biggest winner but there are plenty of showers and two Jacuzzi baths to enjoy too. The kitchen is well appointed and there are lots of different options for relaxing after a day out in one of many nearby attractions.

  • "Whilst the property was spacious, well-equipped and generally clean, it was in need of general “TLC”."

For example, the decoration was very scuffed and marked in places, the furniture was very worn (facings peeling off chairs and settees), the patio furniture was rusty, the kitchen utensils limited and the carpets stained. There were curtains in the lounge but every other room had Venetian blinds. This made it impossible to shut out the light so that the bedrooms became bright as soon as the sun rose. Due to the arched shape of some of the windows, there were no coverings or just fixed blinds, which exacerbated the problem. The broadband speed was appallingly slow with the connection failing on three occasions. These factors detracted from what was an otherwise exceptionally well thought out and pleasantly situated property.
