  • "Loved Dover Cottage."

    Enjoyed all the animals on the farm including the Kestrel that perched on the telegraph pole in the mornings and evenings. Loved sitting out in the evening listening to the sheep in the hills and the cheeky goats in the farm yard. It was all very comfortable and we had every thing we needed.

  • "Idyllic setting for a relaxing holiday."

    Irene was very helpful to us. The property is extremely clean and was a perfect place for us to stay with our two young children who loved seeing the animals on the farm. The property is well equipped, ample parking and there are useful contacts / amenities listed in the Barn.   • "A lovely stay."

    A great, peaceful location and excellent accommodation. Tom, the owner, was very helpful and pleasant. Friendly goats and donkeys and lovely Lucy the horse. Beautiful Collie dogs. Tom just needs to get another farm cat (or two or more!). Even the local wildlife like the farm. I opened the bedroom curtains just after dawn and saw a hare running by the window. He paused to look at me before going on his way. Magical.

    The cottage was comfortable and warm with great facilities. Everything you need in the kitchen. Our children loved seeing and feeding the animals everyday. The location is perfect for Dovedale, Bakewell and Matlock. We also went to Alton towers which is 30 mins away. The owners were friendly and helpful.     Visited Bakewell, Buxton, Ashbourne, Tissington village and lots more loved coming home to see and feed the donkeys and the goats . Chocolate, Bluebell , Lizzie and Annie did enjoy their carrots each day. The best part was the peace ,quiet and so relaxing break.

  • "This cottage was perfect for my farm loving 3 year old to go out and see the donkeys, horse, goats and sheep every day."

    The cottage itself was clean and well equipped with everything we needed for cooking and playing games to entertain ourselves. A well located cottage for day trips to Alton towers and Matlock, also in easy reach of Buxton and Ashbourne. Would highly recommend.

    We stayed end Feb 2022 and had a great week, the cottage is well kitted out, warm and quite. Easy parking. Only issue for us was that BT mobile phones did not work, but that made a nice change if honest. Owners were helful and friendly but not intrusive.

  • "The cottage was clean and cosy."

    Our children loved being able to feed the donkeys and goats (don't forget to bring carrots and apples). We've done lots of cottage breaks over the years and we have to say that this was probably the easiest to drive to of the lot (only a short stretch of single track lane with lots of passing places). It was also really well situated for many day trips within 30 minutes of travel. All in all, it was a lovely stay.

    The cottage was comfortable and well appointed with a wonderful back garden area (shared) with patio furniture, picnic bench and bbq stand (disposable bbq required). The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. While being very rural, it is in easy reach of Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne with plenty to do in the area.

    It’s an ideal peaceful base for touring the many lovely towns and villages of the Peak District. It’s clean, well equipped and has a large garden to enjoy the views. The upgraded WIFI is an additional bonus. I’d certainly recommend it.

    Beautifully situated on a farm with very friendly goats. Good parking and the property is easy to find. Places such as Tissington, Ilam, Dovedale and Carsington water are only minutes away. Polite and friendly hosts who are keen to ensure guests have a pleasant stay. A large lawned area with bench seating at the rear of the property is great for long sunny summer evenings.

    The accommodation was extremely clean, warm and comfortable. Great place to access all the activities the Peak District has to offer together with a lovely outdoor seating area when you return. Enjoyed the farm’s free range eggs for breakfast and feeding the donkeys and goats. Don’t forget to bring apples and carrots for them! Had a great few days away.

    A bit hard to find when we arrived in the dark - suggest slightly tweaking the instructions - turn off the A515 into lane marked with two circular lorry 7.5 ton weight signs - Dover Barn is part of Whitecliffe Farm, which is the first farm on the right. We will go again.

    Property was spotless. A cot and highchair was provided which was very welcome. Lovely shower. Good to have plenty of items such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, toilet roll, kitchen roll etc as it is very annoying when places only provide the bare minimum! The only complaint was the mattress in the double room was very uncomfortable. Would strongly recommend this property.

    Very friendly owners. The facilities were great! Even had a dishwasher and all the little extras that you expect to take yourself eg: washing up liquid and cloth. Salt and pepper, board games, etc. I would highly recommend it. We loved the goats, horses and donkeys right outside our front door and fed them apples and carrots. The outside land is extremely well presented and well maintained. If I had to give it a score out of 10... I’d give it an 11.

  • "This was a very nice cottage, perfect for the two of us."

    Parwich was a good centre for all the places we wanted to visit and nowhere was very far away - that includes Buxton, Cromford, and Matlock - the furthest place we visited was Hardwick Hall. The local attractions of the Tissington Trail, the High Peak Trail, Dove Dale, Magpie Lead Mine at Sheldon - all brilliant - and never fail to satisfy. Food Shopping at Matlock and Ashbourne excellent, plus all the various farm shops, cafes, Ilham Park, Eyam, and the High Peak Bookshop. All in all a very good base for travelling around, close to the A515, and friendly locals!

    Alton towers was a short drive away as was Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock. Ashbourne too was also a bit of a surprise, a lovely little village and one I will be visiting again. I loved being able to sit back and relax with a glass of wine in the barn and really enjoyed feeding the donkeys and goats that were so friendly. I’ll definitely be back again.

    It is on a farm, so very quiet, surrounded by fields and situated just outside the village of Parwich. There were two rooms, one with a double bed and one with two singles, perfect for our party of two adults and two children. There are donkeys and goats on the farm and we could feed them carrots! Dover Barn is perfectly placed between Ashbourne and Bakewell in the heart of the Peak District. Our hosts were lovely and couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. We would definitely book again.

    Perfect for families like ours with a toddler, there’s a large enclosed garden for running about in. The farm’s donkeys & goats were our little boys favourite part of the holiday! The cottage has all the home comforts needed with a lovely traditional farm cottage feel. The owners are friendly & helpful. It’s a great base for visiting places - we had days out to Matlock Bath, Bakewell, CBeebies Land, Buxton and The Derwent Dams. We’ll be coming back next year!!

    Set in a wonderfully peaceful location. The barn itself was very clean and comfortable. It had a well equipped kitchen with everything you would expect and more. The household bits that we took expecting to use (as we have done in other properties) stayed in the car. You could sit both in front and at the back of the property taking advantage of the sun in both the morning and evening. There was a nice well kept, secure large lawn area. The pub at Parwich served lovely meals.

    It is in a peaceful location yet within easy reach of the many attractions the Peak District has to offer. The Tissington trail is a mile away and is an easy bike ride from the property. This was our second stay at Dover Barn and we had a very enjoyable time.

    Initially the cottage was a little difficult to find but was very well situated between Buxton and Ashbourne and with a wonderful pub in Parwich village just down the road. The Sycamore Inn was very welcoming and the food was excellent. Everything in the cottage was of good quality and it was well equipped and clean. We were there over New Year and it was always nice and warm no matter what time of the day it was. We will definitely return when the weather is a bit warmer and drier. So handy for the Tissington and High Peak trails.

Ashbourne 7 miles; Bakewell 13 miles.

Parwich is a lovely old village surrounded by verdant green countryside, boasting a delightful country pub set on the village green, a church, a village hall, a playground and many pretty cottages. With an air of peace and tranquillity, Parwich dates from Saxon times, although at nearby Roystone Grange the remains of a Roman farm have been discovered. The nearby Manifold River cuts a course through superb scenery and is a delight for both walkers and cyclists, with the 'Manifold Trail' following the route of the old Leek to Manifold Light Railway. Nearby are the pretty village of Ilam, the award-winning village of Alstonefield and Brassington, while golf, horse riding, cycling and sailing are all available within seven miles.
